I wrote this a few years ago, and thought I’d share on this anniversary… this was “another” beloved President of my generation.

    ***

    Poem for JFK

    This is no mere mortal
    Who rests here today
This is a man who went out to sea.
This is not a man who hid behind
    His mother’s skirts yesterday
This is a man who went out to sea.
This is a man not afraid of saving
His fellow sailor from a scuttled boat
This is a man who went out to sea.
This is a man who dreamed in poetry
This is a man who quoted the masters
This is a man who went out to sea.
This is a man who served in elected office
Although many thought he, far too young
This is a man who went out to sea.
This is a man who knew his God
And brought Him (in his heart) to D.C.
This is a man who went out to sea.
This is a man who loved his little children
A man who played with them, lovingly
And this is a man who went out to sea.
This is not a man to forget
This man who went out to sea
A man whom we lost in 1963.

Rest in peace, President Kennedy ~
    Sail On.

    Good Morning TODers

Hi Nerdy, and thank you keeping this space going.

    (((((((((((((((((Chips))))))))))))))))

  11. November 22, 2016 at 10:34 am

    Good Morning TODers,

So, for the past 8 years, I have been of the thought that the media is a detriment to this country. I watched them coddle the GOP, gave Birther a platform to spread lies about PBO, and often treat PBO disrespectfully. Then came this election, you also saw the one-sided coverage of Hillary, as compared to the Birther. There is something wholly corrupt about the media and we have to do something en masse to push back at them.

After the election, I curled up and felt so helpless and just wanted to shut off everything. Then slowly, I began to peek in here and into my twitter feed and saw the horror emerging.

Most of what Birther has been able to get away with has been sanctioned by the media. They claimed he told too many lies to cover him. They made excuses that they just didn’t know where to start. All of this is bunk. Just this past Sunday, Megyn Kelly stated that networks, not just Fox alone, would pretend to be tough with Birther in public, but were totally different toward him in private.

There are few in the media that are trying to warn us, tell the stories, do the right thing.

But they never get the play, all because of the many, who pretend every now and then to do their jobs, but in fact are corrupt, to my mind.

As I said on twitter, I have carved out a space to where I go to get news from a few people. You will note that there is a consistency about these folks.

But the rest of them have to be challenged.

The media feels comfortable because they assume people just won’t come together to challenge them in a unified, collective way. It is too big of an issue, they think.

I don’t know how we do it, but I wonder if, in the same vein as we have done with phone banking for our candidates, we can organize and perhaps choose a specific day to go after one major media outlet at a time — bombarding the newsroom, their executives, the advertising lines — every segment of the organization. We continue to do this on a sustained basis.

If possible, couple that with the kind of protest we see in the streets now against Birther.

I don’t know, I am so frustrated. I just want to do something before these people help to completely ruin this country.

    Yes We Can!

Anybody have any ideas, think it is worth a try?

Writing this makes me so sad that we lost the elections. Now, the Jackass-elect is speaking of healing after all the racist things he said, the vitriol he spewed. What a shame!

    ——

President-elect Donald Trump’s administration will not pursue further investigations of Hillary Clinton’s private email server or the Clinton Foundation, according to his former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway.

Trump’s decision represents a significant break from a major campaign promise — at the second presidential debate in early October, Trump threatened Clinton, saying that “if I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation.”

Conway said Clinton “still has to face the fact that a majority of Americans don’t find her to be honest or trustworthy,” but added that “if Donald Trump can help her heal, then perhaps that’s a good thing to do.”

He will break every single of his racist, hateful, promises before he takes the oath of office…..and the ONLY ones that will care are the white supremacists. He will do exactly the opposite and follow the GOP tax cuts, try to gut Medicare, Medicaid, SS, ship more jobs overseas, and bankrupt the entire country.

How Ryan Plans to Undermine Obamacare
by Nancy LeTourneau – November 22, 2016 8:44 AM PO

    // ……………………………..

From the time the exchanges were implemented, House Republicans have refused to appropriate the money for these cost-sharing subsidies. The Obama administration found a work-around for that in tying them to the tax credits which are available to enrollees. In House vs Burwell, Republicans challenged that work-around and won a ruling from a DC Circuit Court Judge. Payment of the subsidies has continued awaiting appeal by the administration.

    …………………..

This is classic Republicanism – especially the kind we’ve seen from Speaker Paul Ryan. What it amounts to is that they do what they can to ensure the failure of government programs and then claim that their condemnation of those programs was correct. It is similar to what Ryan is likely to try to do with Medicare. The plan is to remove the Obamacare cost savings to that program and then claim that Medicare is going broke and needs to be privatized.

This is a deeply dishonest way to govern. But I suspect that someone like Ryan is aware of the fact that most Americans won’t dig deep enough into their shenanigans to blame them for undermining successful programs rather than working to improve their functioning. In the end, if the Speaker was so confident that the American people would support his Randian views, he could be honest and tell us what he wants to do. Instead he engages in this kind of subterfuge because he thinks he can fool us.

On his radio show, Chris Christie said he reminded Trump he’d like to finish out his term as New Jersey governor. Meaning he may not be invited to be part of the administration.

Lucky for the world at large, but poor New Jersey. Ugh.

Just recently joined Pantsuit Nation in my area.

Their website is a great resource for daily acts.

    Here are 3
    1. Call to action: call your representative and ask him/her to support Katherine Clark’s Presidential Accountability Act which would require the President and VP to avoid potential conflicts of interest. Also express your concern about the appointment of Steve Bannon as white house advisor. http://usecalltoaction.com/

    2. Call Senator Lindsey Graham’s office at (202) 224-5972, push 2 if you get the recording.
Tell the staff member “I support Senator Graham’s investigation into Russia’s participation in the election of Donald Trump.”

    3. Call the House Oversight Committee at 202) 225-5074
Tell them you support the call for a bipartisan review of Trump’s financials and conflicts of interests.

I am also planning to join ACLU and SPLC as I need to prioritize now. I have to put keeping the Constitutional rights of all as my first priority. Getting Dems into the majority in the Senate and House is second. Not allowing all the good PBO did along with our social protection programs is next. Actually preserving our freedom and way of life overarches all.

I love President Obama and Vice President Biden, I think I’ve made that clear.

I despise Trump and Pence, their thoughts and deeds, all their followers, their spokespeople, and their supporters.

And now Trump has already said he does not plan to “go after” Hillary Clinton (“She’s been through enough”), Reince Priebus says (no doubt on Trump’s behalf, because he’s his puppet now) that certainly there won’t be any little ol’ Muslim registry (don’t be silly), and so on and so on.

And today it has been announced that President Obama has had a few conversations with Trump, since that first ghastly day he had to host him in the Oval Office (before he left and they wiped down everything with Lysol).

Coincidence between the latter point and the former points? I think not. #ThanksObama #MagicalObamaDust

Oh, and, I don’t believe the wall and repeal of Obamacare made it into the “first 100 days” videotaped rant, either, although I couldn’t confirm that – since I don’t listen to Trump.

So all the political media is now saying “Hillary not to be prosecuted” – she was NEVER going to be prosecuted – she committed no crime – but you wouldn’t know that from the US media – and the fools around the world who repeat what they say.

Here is some beauty and grace to feast your eyes on: I was in Barnes and Noble to get the Vogue issue that features MO when I came across special editions of Essence and Rollingstone magazines that feature retrospectives on the Obama years. They will be on stands to Feb. 2017. The Essence publication is named: The Obamas: the White House Years and the Rollingstone’s is The Obama Years: Inside a Historic Presidency.
