Dave Chappelle’s monologue is a must watch today.

Chappelle did not disappoint last night. Not at all. Enjoyed every minute of it — especially his opening dialogue. Was pitch perfect given what we’ve just been through this week. I was in tears when he spoke of attending a party at the White House with other Black guests (except for Bradley Cooper) and how historically Blacks have been prohibited from the White House.

    one thing crossed my mind.

when you this talk of he may not do this because he reconsidered after talking to PBO, be very skeptical.

while it would be nice to think that this is the case, I suspect that a more nefarious trick is probably being played here.

may be I am cynical but I believe this is because he lied multiple times to their deplorables when he was campaigning.

but because throughout his life he never accepts responsibility to his actions, he is using this (PBO made me reconsider) as a way to escape from his promises while making sure that his rabid supporters’ anger is still directed at PBO as usual.

I could be wrong but we may continue hearing this as their new refrain for every broken promise : PBO made me do it (just like billy bush)

the impact on the lives of real people is WHY I will never give him a chance.

I always give people I meet the first time a chance and it is their responsibility to either maintain my love and respect or they squared it by how they react and behave.

anyone can be kind to friends and family but what about those who you don’t know?

through out my life this has been my test for the character of a person: at the core, individuals are who they are based on the way they treat strangers and the vulnerable people.

The Trump terrorists need to be stopped – never mind ISIS.

It’s as if they were just waiting for their cue to put their nastiness on display, and the election flipped the switch.

They’re going to find out they’re not in the position of strength they think they are…and wait til Trump starts backing down on his grandiose promises to do the ugly Muslim banning and deportation they voted for.

Good morning, TOD. {{{Nerdy}}} โค YOU. โค YOU. <3YOU.

    November 13, 2016 at 11:42 am

Good morning TOD! Nerdy, thank you for keeping this space for us to process what is happening in our country. I took a break from everything yesterday just to try process what is happening in our country from a less emotional level. Thought I might share some thoughts.

    President Obama
Our beloved PBO loves this country more than his pride and his legacy. Accordingly, he will do everything possible behind the scenes to stop Trump from dismantling the things most important to Americans.

He knows two things: Trump is fairly easily to influence because of his lack of knowledge, and two, he tends to listen most to the last person who talks to him. Accordingly, for as disgusting as it it, I expect PBO to try to develop a relationship with him to influence him as much as possible. PBO will put aside and mask his distaste for the man for the good of the country. I am hoping that he will also try to sow some discontent between DT and Congressional leadership so they do less harm. Remember, the more the GOP is united the worse it is for us.

    He has two guiding principles:
    1. Enrich himself and his family and now it will be at our expense. Anyone who thinks he will go away at some point is crazy. Given he will never release his tax returns, just think of the wealth he can accumulate in the next four or eight years. Putinesque?
    2. Revenge–he will Hooverize the Justice Dept. and use the IRS to go after everyone who has ever wronged him. This will also help him keep people like Ryan and McConnell in line, and btw will also stop them from ever trying to impeach him no matter his crimes or depravity.

Bet on it. Everything else is just a tool to achieve these ends. There isn’t a policy in the world he cares about unless it enriches him. If you view everything he does through this lens you will understand him. Unfortunately, given he will never release any tax returns much we will never know.

This morning, given the biggest challenge of his life ahead, rather than using his time productively he is tweeting his anger at the NYT for the article they wrote on the waning days of his campaign. He is in revenge mode.

    The Press
A big press shop is going to be critical to hold him accountable. When the WH shuts down the press, it takes incredible resources and time to try to dig up the facts from other places. Bet on the fact this WH will shut out the press, they are doing it already.

My anger at the NYT for normalizing him immediately after the election led me to cancel my subscription. But I am sticking with the Washington Post. They never bought his schtick, condemned him from the day he won the last primary, and are letting their opinion columnists urge resistance from the start. They still have some of their old conservative reporters who will try to normalize DT but they are not taking this as a strategy. In addition to my financial support, I have taken to sending the individual reporters/columnists email thank you notes when they write an anti-Trump position. I have been surprised that all responded to my emails, thanked me for the support and promised to keep on course.

Jeff Bezos owns the WaPo and has the money to defy DT. It should say something that DT has threatened to sue him for his paper’s coverage of him and pulled their press credentials for months.

I’m still working on where and how my own resistance will shape up. That will take a little more time, and frankly I’d rather focus on enjoying PBO’s remaining days in office. But I would like to find a way to keep this space going. The fight will remain for PBO as in everything we can do to oppose this president will be to preserve PBO’s record and legacy.

In the meantime, know that I love and appreciate all of you. This feels like one of the few safe spaces as our world is being torn asunder.

I don’t think that Elizabeth truly believes that DT will do anything of this popular lit of promises, all these promises to help little people. Those were promises made to bring poor and middle class people, including many racists, many sexists (and women) and many white nationalists who saw him as their vessel to the voting booths for him so that he could ascend to mainstream and to power.

It she believes DT, then I will begin building a bridge, a yu-u-u-u-uge bridge to sell. Besides this Demagogue must work with his republican Congress who will block him any way they want because they, too, have each a base to satisfy.

While this article focuses on how black women are treated, I do not believe that is all that is at stake here. I had lunch with my brother-in-law yesterday and he said to me: How is it possible that any woman voted for this man? I just stared at him, did he not hear me all those years?

Ask any woman who invaded the male power structure 30-40 years ago, and they will tell you that white women were as much if not more so of a problem than the men. In addition to the denigrating harassment and assaults of the men, many of the women who worked in law firms as receptionists, legal assistants and secretaries would shoot you down and stab in you the back any chance they could. By stepping outside the structure they were comfortable with, we were a threat. After a few years of learning just how damaging it could be, I became extremely selective in my hiring, fought like crazy to make sure the women who worked for me were extremely well paid, and when I switched firms I took all of them with me as part of my package with the new firm.

I suspect a good share of those white collar women voted against Hillary because she is viewed as a threat. And I suspect a fair number of white women who have not and do not work also voted against her. They thrive in the patriarchal system that has been alive in this country since its inception and Hillary’s candidacy threatens that. As PBO has reminded us time after time after time, change is HARD. And for those who have done well in the existing structure, they will fight it tooth and nail to maintain it.

I am with you 100%! We must also loudly point out to the media and the Republicans that the majority of American voters voted for Hillary. Trump represents a minority of American voters. He is going to be ptrsident because of the antiquated, and undemocratic, electoral vote system. Unlike President Obama who won the majority of American voters twice, Donald Trump has no mandate from the American people.

No, and I am sure that many will emulate him when it is time for re-election. Men are so hierarchal in their relationships; DT is the alpha and they all bow down with eyes lowered and throats exposed. Women, who are more collaborative, will be the ones to eventually bring this evil cabal down. We are used to losing and fighting on. We have no other choice because we have children to protect (no matter their ages) and a society to save. First, Ryan claims that Obamacare has put Medicare under deeper financial stress. Precisely the opposite is true. And it’s so straightforward Ryan unquestionably knows this. The Affordable Care Act actually extended Medicare’s solvency by more than a decade. Ryan’s claim is flat out false.
