    Timing again…..

Well, well, well…a Danish friend of mine just provided a link to Danish news where the Russian deputy foreign minister confirms that they were in contact with the Trump campaign during the election. Here’s part of the google translation from the link she provided:

Russia recognizes that it was in contact with Republican Donald Trump’s campaign during the American election campaign.
It says Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Rjabkov to the Russian news agency Interfax.
    – There were contacts, he confirms, but without going into details.

They are going to suck up to Trump.. they may tweet little bits of anger/frustration/angst over him/his policies, but they are going to be his biggest fans/spinners of Bullsh*t. They’ve learned nothing from their complicity with Bush, nor their “both sides” malarkey or they hogwash they’ve written about President Obama. I feel zero camaraderie or empathy for 99% of “journalists”.

  8. November 10, 2016 at 2:33 pm

    Bringing this over…

The thing is, the republicans have given us the blueprint as to what works, and we have ignored it. I’m not talking the negative s#^t, I’m talking being engaged in the WHOLE political process! You must be involved in every level of government, run for every office starting with dog catcher; when you lose a battle, don’t run to your cave, stand up, dust yourself off and continue to fight like hell. WHY DO WE NOT SEE AND FOLLOW?

Then campaign for her a couple of days just before the election.

I think you just about covered it, Meta! But I’ll add on my two cents, just because I am so pissed at this shit!:

This MoFo couldn’t even beat HRC, which (then) Senator Obama manged to do, but she and he were both loyal Dems, and knew how to ultimately work together for the team.

Bernie’s followers were composed mostly of lefty versions of those for whom DT’s racism, resentment and misogyny appealed, and too many others who were willing to attend a rally, but not to vote. Even though Bernie had a penis, which is apparently the #1 requirement for the Presidency, he and Donald were competing for a great many of the same voters and Donald didn’t stop at dog whistles and talking about the mythical “white working class” DT just came out and let his racist, hateful, woman-hating flag fly. THAT is what got him votes, from those who agreed and also from too many for whom an authoritarian “daddy” is appealing, even if he denigrates them. Plus, Bernie is Jewish. Good luck running against that Alt-right mob!

Putin is right wing, and he has damaging film on Donald. He would have Wikileaked the shit out of Bernie, because Donald is the puppet he wanted and could control. Bernie’s old essays about lack of sex causing cervical cancer and how he thinks women fantasize “about being raped by 3 men simultaneously would have been playing right alongside the Billy Bush tape on a constant loop.

Bernie had no ground game, was terrible at budgeting.

Please! DT would have mopped the floor with him!

Exactly how many of Bernie’s endorsed candidates and initiatives actually won? Our Revolution seems like a bust already. Not a good indicator Bernie would have done even as well as Hillary. She WON the popular vote, and if his dead-enders who didn’t vote at all or voted third party had listened to him when he finally came around to supporting Hillary, we would have Obama’s third term to look forward to instead of the tangerine nightmare.

    The Uniqueness of Barack Obama
by Nancy LeTourneau November 10, 2016 3:18 PM POLITICAL ANIMAL BLOG

    // ……………………….

We’re witnessing a lot of mea culpas from people who are admitting they were wrong about this election. Here’s mine: I believed what Simon wrote. I bought it lock, stock and barrel. The “New America” he described was the one I thought had finally arrived. We were obviously wrong.

Barack Obama brought a unique set of skills to a unique moment in our history. Perhaps the most important skill set he brought to the table was his ability to inspire with soaring rhetoric at the same time that he was being pragmatic about the details. You don’t find that combo very often in human beings. Usually when we talk about the latter, it is in reference to how he governed. But the campaigns he built were incredibly well thought-out and meticulous.

    ……………………………….. snip ……………………………

No one will ever convince me that we shouldn’t have elected Barack Obama when we did. I believe that his presidency is one of the best things that has ever happened to this country. But what I’ve learned is that it’s not going to be likely that we can repeat the fact that this was a unique candidate at a unique moment in history. During the coming months, we’ll have to figure out what that means in terms of how we go forward. But for now, it helps me understand the grief I’m experiencing over the fact that the New America hasn’t arrived…yet.

      November 10, 2016 at 4:17 pm

“Let’s face it…there aren’t a lot of Barack Obama’s out there. Certainly he has his flaws too. But he set the bar pretty high. As a result, people like David Simon and I thought that the country had changed more than it had, while we minimized the backlash that had formed – not only to his presidency – but to the very changes he represented.” N. LeTourneau

The same has been reported by a friend living in FL, telling me that people she has never seen before coming out of the woodwork to vote. These people existed among us but were not seeing by us nor by the elected officials that are there to serve them. Therefore, when a demagogue comes along and promises them to make America great again, they all come out of under the rocks or from the hood to listen, cheer, and ultimately vote the demagogue into the most powerful office.

It’s a petition and I’m not going to ask you to sign it, but I just want to know. Can this actually happen? This petition is asking the people of the electoral college to go against what the electoral votes were and vote for hillary as the popular vote went. can they actually do that? does anyone know?

    • 145 FoxfireTX
      November 10, 2016 at 5:41 pm

This from an article in the NYDN:

Basically, the Electoral College is an anti-democratic measure built into the Constitution,” Andrew Trees, a post-doctoral fellow at Roosevelt University and author of “The Founding Fathers and the Politics of Character,” told the Daily News.

The Founding Fathers “didn’t want the people voting on thoughtless political impulse,” Trees said, calling the Electoral College “a cooling-off site” after the popular vote.

Trump, he added, “fits to a T” the kind of “unprincipled demagogue” the Fathers wanted to block.

Here’s how the Electoral College could prevent a President Trump http://nydn.us/2aDtDkK

But it won’t happen. It would require convincing the majority of the electors and that is not something that either HRC or PBO would sanction.

I have a feeling Trump is not really going to enjoy being president– too much work, too much oversight, too many rules and checks and balances.

Remember when RMoney was running for President and it came out that he ran the MA Governor’s office like he was a “king” with rope lines and how he would not meet with people or press……Well meet the Real Presidential RMoney DTMoney.

I think it’s all a reality show to him– just act ‘presidential’ and memorize your script. What really scares me is the horrid rethugs in congress who are salivating over their new power and the fact that their president is anyone’s puppet.

this. the original article on CNN’s site is full of juicy factoids from the exit polls. this one really counters the current narrative.

Is he really the guy who talked Trump into running?

Ya know, you have to really think about just how much personality matters in these elections. For those of us who are so committed to policy, it is secondary. But we are NOT the majority of the electorate. The majority doesn’t have time to watch long speeches, read extended policy discussions, etc. etc. While Trump is repugnant to many of us, his personality won out with the voters he was targeting. Hillary doesn’t have that charisma that PBO does and could not attract a sufficiently large coalition to win the electoral college. We simply have not changed much since 2012 to see such an incredible discrepancy in these results. While the media never got it (because he too despises them) he was warm and welcoming and attractive and young appearing and on and on. I think it is easy to undermine this factor because no one would admit that this is the basis for their vote but I simply do not know what else to attribute the difference in results from 2012 to 2016.
