    GE TODville.

Bittersweet watching PBO on the campaign trail — LOVE it, but know he won’t be doing many more as President. 😦

Add voter “enthusiasm” to the list of things MSM lies and spins to create false narrative in this election:

And the crazy part is Hillary supporters are also enthusiastic about THE MESSAGE. Trump supporters are merely against EVERYBODY he’s against, and are finally getting their last gasp of hate out.

Thank goodness I grew up in a Democratic family, with Democratic values! 🙂

    • November 4, 2016 at 8:40 pm

Don’t let anyone say her supporters are not enthusiastic! At the rally today we were fired up and ready to go! Hillary gave a great speech; funny, sincere, and inspiring. Our mayor, Mike Duggan opened it up and Brenda Lawrence, John Conyers, Gary Peters, and UAW president Dennis Williams gave rousing speeches. Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of Detroit brnch of theNAACP, preach to thecrowd and set the tone as he introduced Sec. Clinton. She gave a great speech and looked totally at ease, fresh and happy. I couldn’t believe she’d just come from another rally! She’s 3 years older than me – how does she do it?

I missed the event, but I read that Donovan Livingston would be introducing PBO.

Here’s him speaking at his Harvard graduation ceremony last May. Impressive young man.

Their constant distortions while reporting about HRC is a huge contributor to Voters misunderstanding of her.

Just letting campaigns spout talking points without challenging them with the truth is not journalism. Letting the spokesperson talk over the host, change the subject to the opponent and run out the time slot is not only irresponsible to the audience but nonprofessional, showing inexperience, and deplorable (as in Hillary speak). I think if the campaign representative uses this ploy the station should refuse to put them on air for a number of days so there is a consequence for their actions. I also think a similar approach should have been used with televising Trump’s rallies. If he kept using debunked lies either they quit broadcasting his speeches till he quit repeating the lies or they run a disclaimer fact check across the bottom of the screen. Not many people research fact checking on their own. They want to believe what they want to believe.

I have said this so many times, now POTUS said it tonight, if he had said the things Trump said, or done, these same Republicans and the media would have said he is not qualified to be President of these United States. These Trump supporters who have no problem with what Trump have said, would be having a dam fit if Obama said anything like that.

      November 4, 2016 at 9:58 pm

I’ll heartily second that sentiment, Bill R! I have shared TOD with many of my friends who have been despairing over daily news for the duration of this election campaign. I always tell them “turn off your TV, and make a habit of checking in on this site (TOD) as often as you can. It will keep you sane, happier, AND much better informed.” I cannot wait for Nov 8th to be behind us. Even though I’m Canadian, I was horrified to discover several months ago that a couple of my obviously extremely uninformed/misinformed friends are Trump supporters. To say that it broke my heart, and made me physically ill is an understatement. And now, this close to the election, I refuse to take any phone calls from those friends, because if we got back onto the topic of DT, I don’t think I could control either my temper or my tongue. And it’s very bad for my blood pressure! My only consolation is that they’re unable to vote in the US election. Thank God for small mercies.

    • November 4, 2016 at 10:08 pm

Second, third, fourth…………..what you said, Bill. I can’t imagine surviving this without TOD. I, too, have told so many people about this lovely place.

Thanks to those who responded to my post on last thread about the crazy right-wing link that someone shared on my Facebook page. I knew when I saw the website name, i was some far out right-wing site. Still astounding to me that people believe this S—!! Sorry.

I also agree. TOD is my refuge. The place I go to to avoid a heart attack or insanity. I am living in a rural Oregon community where people are narrow minded and always do the same as their families always have done. Reasoning with them does not work. They do not listen to learn or participate in a discussion they only speak louder escalating their volume to a shouting level. Facts are just propaganda to them. Anything that does not match with their own beliefs is discarded. Trump gets by with his crap with them cuz “Hillary is far worse”. They believe he will surround himself with knowledgeable people even though he has shown by whom he surrounds himself with now not suggesting he would be open to that. They believe he is a successful businessman even with the business history of bankruptcies and stiffing contractors, hiring immigrants instead of Americans, and making and buying materials in and from foreign lands. Unbelievable to me. Thank you TOD for being here. Thank you fellow participants too.

For the first time in this campaign, my heart is singing! Seeing all the Latinos turn out in NV and FL, all those young girls going after Trump Jr, it is time for all to have their voices heard. From the looks of it, the GOP has lost women, POC and millennials for years to come, possibly a generation. And no one is more deserving given what they have pulled with PBO these last 8 years, and now capped off with that disgrace of a candidate. Hallelujah! I was beginning to wonder if the day would ever come when they would pay a price. Just maybe it has arrived.

And with that, off to watch PBO’s interview with Bill Maher!

  46. 117 CEB
    November 4, 2016 at 11:55 pm

One of the things that makes me so proud and hopeful is that we (everyone voting for HRC and against the carnival barker) do not cower in fear; that we do not let the msm hype and lies stop us; that we, with our feet, our voices, our prayers, our talents and our individual votes are boldly doing everything to save the country that we love for now and for the future. The GOP forgot that even with gaming the system, it is still one person, one vote and this can make all of the difference. We also have leaders who have courage and heart, who will stand alone if necessary to fight the good fight (I often think of PBO, alone on the stage, taking on the R’s at their own retreat, with cool intellect and sang froid and of HRC, alone, in front of a pack of dogs doing the Benghazi witch hunt for hours without breaking). The privileged white males have lost control of their party; the very dogs that they unleashed have turned on them and they are left to lick the boots of the usurper who has brought the barbarians from outside of the walls into the courtyards.

As long as we get it done, it does not matter if we are Black or Brown. This talking down of the A-A voting numbers is needlessly divisive. When all is said and done, A-A’s still make up less than 12% of the overall population. Latinos out-number A-A’s. It is all good; we are all here to do our part. So glad that Hispanics/Latinos are stepping up and claiming their place in the U S.

I dislike the divisive quality of blaming and crediting groups of people for political wins or losses. I like The Stronger Together meme. I am Native American/White and hate when I hear Whites are electing Trump. I am a Dem voter, an elder and a woman. I am annoyed when I am lumped in with Whites and my vote is not valued as being different than the majority of that group. However, if my being a woman was separated from my race I would think I was in the majority.

One other thought about Latinos voting in record numbers in NV.

Really pulling for @CatherineForNV to retain Harry Reid’s seat — despite stonewall obstruction by GOP, Harry Reid managed to get the Senate to do the right thing whenever possible.

He’s had PBO’s back for 8 years, his legacy deserves a Dem successor, who will be the first Latina US Senator ever!

Saw a tweet earlier this week that said something to the effect of “Has anyone seen Joe Heck this week? Is he OK?” Don’t know where or what #HeckNo was doing this week, but looking forward to Senator Cortez-Masto.

Mass data releases, like the Podesta emails, conflate things that the public has a right to know with things we have no business knowing, with a lot of material in the middle about things we may be curious about and may be of some historical interest, but should not be released in this manner.

All campaigns need to have internal discussions. Taking one campaign manager’s email account and releasing it with zero curation in the last month of an election needs to be treated as what it is: political sabotage, not whistle-blowing.
    .
    .
We can’t shrug off these dangers just because these hackers have, so far, largely made relatively powerful people and groups their targets. Their true target is the health of our democracy.

    GM TODville.

Just heard this on the radio, so thought I’d share.

James Dyson (of Dyson vacuums fame) is opening a 4-year university in Britain for engineering — and will be tuition free. That’s a great way to encourage local engineers — think some of the US billionaires who have more money than they could ever spend should consider doing likewise here. Wouldn’t it be something if you got awarded higher points on an application for not being an affluent white with alumni ties to the school?

While on the subject of billionaires, @CBSradionews quoted Carlos Slim saying that US would suffer rampant inflation if DJT were to win.

I have faith in sane Americans to keep the (true) orange menace and his deplorable supporters at bay.

Good Morning and happy Saturday to all of TOD, thank you as always Nerdy for keeping it going here for all of us.

Cannot wait to vote on Tuesday 🙂 However I am a little worried about our Baltimore City Mayoral race: Catherine Pugh won the Democratic primary.. but Sheila Dixon (an ex-Mayor) refused to accept the outcome and has been pushing a write-in campaign. My concern is that because both are popular, what if they split the votes and we end up with a republican winner? I am certain that this city will be the biggest loser if that happens. I know that Baltimore City is largely Democratic, so don’t know if this is even a real possibility, but I admit I am concerned.
