    http://www.centralmaine.com/2016/11/03/usm-investigating-possible-hate-crime-graffiti-at-student-senate-office/

University of Southern Maine police are investigating a possible hate crime after graffiti was found in the student government offices, officials said Thursday.

A student who is known to at least one student senator wrote the Latin phrase “Deus Vult” or “God Wills It” on a desk and a wall, according to student leaders.

The phrase was used as a rallying cry for Christians during the Crusades in medieval times, and more recently has been adopted by the alt-right political movement as an anti-Muslim insult.

This couldn’t be said much better, and is an apt illustration of the media’s and voters’ failure to apply any normal standards of scrutiny to his candidacy.

“Donald Trump’s closing argument is that he can use a teleprompter. Not necessarily that the words he reads off the teleprompter are true or intelligent, just that he can say all of them out loud and in order. In the final days of this campaign, we have returned to where we began, with an odd fixation on whether this man who aspires to the presidency can avoid saying anything ignorant, bigoted, inscrutable, or otherwise disqualifying for an hour or so at a time, once or twice a day.

    ….

But Trump’s bar was never raised, and was actually lowered for a time. As the campaign winds to a close, reporters are still treating fourth-grade demonstrations of poise as political masterstrokes, when the fact that this is an open question at all is actually horrifying.”

Some good stories out today, which we should be passing on. People’s Magazine finally does a write-up about Trump’s rape case. Vox has an Iglesias piece about the phony email issue and the explosive Newsweek Story on Russia’s attempt to take down NATO through Trump. More stories on FBI RW cabal leaking fake stories.

I have poly myo sitis so I can relate to this. I am not in a wheelchair but when I get flares I can hardly walk so this is breaking my heart. No one should be ridiculed over a disability. The president of the United States have to lead by example. He was mocking, flaying of the hands and everything, then he lied. By God’s grace this young lady will get justice. All the disabled folks around the world will get justice and that is from my mouth to God’s ears.

Given the history of the FBI, the fact that its employees are motivated by racism is no surprise (remember Hoover v. MLK and the Black Power movement). I hope President Hillary Clinton takes them on for their blatant attempt to interfere with our elections.

.The election is just five days away, and something truly frightening is happening, something with far-reaching implications for the immediate future of American politics. Republicans, led by Donald Trump but by no means limited to him, are engaging in kind of termite-level assault on American democracy, one that looks on the surface as though it’s just aimed at Hillary Clinton, but in fact is undermining our entire system.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2016/11/03/republicans-are-now-vowing-total-war-and-the-consequences-could-be-immense/?utm_source=rss_plum-line&utm_term=.081798fa00b9

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Where has Waldman been…this has been going on thru the whole Obama Presidency….their Obstruction…the filibuster…not confirming judges……this assault on the constitution…shutting down the government…threatening default…

It is time for the white folks of good faith….to stand up and be counted…to engage in Truth and Reconciliation…Now Is The Time

just to know…that these forces…Trump and Trumpism will not go back under the rock…indeed they have been waiting in the wings for such a man…they will not go away….if they lose the election…it will be seen as a temporary setback…they will not stop…and neither can we…after this election…there will be a primary in the spring and another election in the fall….we must keep our marching shoes on…because they surely will

    Good Afternoon TOD

Only 1 Republican in my office is going to vote for Trump. Some are just not voting (which I am perfectly okay with) and others are leaving the top of the ticket blank and voting on the down ballot candidates (which I can respect). BTW most of these people live in battleground Virginia 🙂

    On another note:

I don’t know what is happening in other states but I can tell you that early voting in Maryland and particularly my highly AA county was off the chain this cycle. The lines were endless this week. Every single person I know that early voted this week stood in line for over an hour to vote.

Musical goodness coming our way the first week of December: The Hamilton Mixtape!! Remixes put together by Lin-Manuel, Questlove and the Roots. Artist are all wonderful mix of current R&B, old-school and new school rap artists all the way to Kelly Clarkson. Some of the other artists are Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Usher, Andra Day, John Legend, Ashanti, Chance “The Rapper,” Jimmy Fallon and the Roots, Busta Rhymes, and an entire hosts of hip-hop and rap artists whose names Nerdy would recognize. The only cuts available now to listen are “My Shot” that has the same chorus, but a modern rap that deals with life today (off the chain) and the grief-stricken song, “It’s Quiet Uptown,” sung by Kelly Clarkson. You can listen to these two songs on Spotify and from the link in the article on pitchfork.com. Amazon has the information but not an available date. I have yet to check ITunes.

Even though I have seen this before (and loved seeing it here to watch many times again), you often post things that I had not seen before, many of them soon after they occurred. They are always uplifting and they remind me that we sill have an awesome president and First Lady named Barack and Michelle Obama and we should be enjoying every moment of their time with us, even more so in these turbulent times. I really love your contributions and thanks again for all that you do.

REGARDING PHILADELPHIA TRANSIT STRIKE — INJUNCTION / ELECTION DAY IMPACT

… SEPTA says it is considering seeking an injunction that would force union members to work on Election Day, Nov. 8, if the strike continues through Tuesday. The transit agency has not yet done so.

Other efforts are also being prepared to help voters if the union remains on strike Tuesday. The Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council says it will run vans to help voters get to the polls. Indego will also offer an Election Day deal: The first 30 minutes of each trip will cost just $1 Tuesday. And the ride-sharing service Lyft says it will offer Philadelphia users a 45 percent discount on one ride between 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. … http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real-time/Latest-SEPTA-strike-updates-Nov-4-2016.html

Heard two callers on TH’s show in last hour. Here’s the points they made. Woman: When people see charisma, they either want to own it or destroy it. GOP saw that charisma in both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama and their choice was to destroy with whatever means necessary. Of course, BO had the added issue of race and the first AA president. She also pointed out what we all know and that is that some of Bill rubs off on Hillary. She had a lot of excellent points, but that is the one thing I wanted to share. I had never looked at it in that way. Shortly after her call, a man called and said that he remembered (so he Googled) that the Bush administration had bragged about installing lots of career people into lots and lots of positions. His question was: These rogue agents at the FBI–are they some of those people? If it’s a ‘career’ position vs. a ‘political’ position, those people remain in place with the change of an administration. Food for thought………..

The good news is that Madeline Albright is coming on Sunday to our Democratic Party offices in our tiny county to thank people for all their hard work on the campaign. The bad news is that I will be working on setup for our Salsa the Vote rally and will simply not have the time to see her. We are expecting a bigger than usual crowd this year and there are thousands of details to have in place before it begins. Every time I have run into a campaign worker, I’ve seen fatigue and an almost desperate need to get this punishing campaign over with. I remember that in 2008, PBO called the presidential election process “the march to Bataan” and it truly feels that way right now. If not for a fluke of the calendar that puts election day later than usual, it would all be over by now.

Seeing these photos reminds me of my 2008 attendance of Obama’s campaign rally at U of O in Eugene, Oregon. I went by myself driving to Eugene the evening before to stay in a motel overnight so I could stake out a spot in line early in the morning for a 9pm rally. I also planned to stay in the motel that same night as the rally as it was still March and the weather was questionable that time of year. I waited from 7am till 9pm, second in line for the rally. The people were friendly, helpful and positive all fourteen hours of waiting. I remember jumping to my feet in the stands and waving when I saw Barack enter. It was so exciting and like an outer body experience as I seemed to have no control over my own response to being in the same space as Obama. People still feel that way about him as do I.
