I’m really puzzled about that. On the face of it, there’s a rogue doing this. It would appear actually to hurt the FBI and even the Trump campaign to do this sort of thing.

    A Trump Rally — straight from George Orwell’s ‘1984’

Bill Weld reads from ‘1984’… Welcome to Donald Trump’s America

“…before the hate had proceeded for 30 seconds, uncontrollable exclamations of rage were breaking out from half the people in the room. In its second minute, the hate rose to a frenzy. People were leaping up and down in their places and shouting at the top of their voices. The horrible thing about the two minutes hate [that’s the name of the exercise] was not that one was obliged to act the part, but that it was impossible to avoid joining in. And yet, the rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a blow lamp…”

“the hate rose to a frenzy”
Powerful. It’s sad that so many of our fellow Americans are perfectly comfortable electing such a bigoted and hateful person. Thank you, Mr. Weld, for speaking out as someone who was a Republican Governor.

Sometimes when I read comment after comment after comment here on TOD, I feel like that wave has washed over y’all and I have to walk away and read something …like the father giving his daughter Halloween at 30,000 feet. And lately, I get my renewed energy and optimism from working at the phonebanks and only briefly reading TOD comments.

The media is trying to spin the Clinton new ad buys in Michigan , Colorado and Virginia as a ” nervousness ” .

I think they are just reminding voters of their closing argument before election day.

The media needs to go to rehab to address the chronic negativity .

I have a question for PA folks. I have read there is a transit strike in Philly which would affect turnout next Tues. What’s up with that?

    • 60 JER
      November 1, 2016 at 5:09 pm

While the two parties still have a week to resolve their differences, a closely contested presidential campaign looms on Nov. 8 and the region is expected to be critical for both candidates. SEPTA would seek an injunction from U.S. District Court to force striking workers back to their jobs for Election Day if the strike threatened to overlap with the election.

The possibility of a strike stretching to Election Day has prompted concern from Hillary Clinton’s campaign, said [Congressman] Brady during a visit shortly after 7 p.m. to the Sheraton at 17th and Race streets, where negotiations were held.

“Hillary Clinton’s guy, Corey Dukes (director of the candidate’s Pennsylvania campaign), had a little concern,” Brady said.

The Philadelphia Board of Commissioners, which oversees elections in the city, said in 2009 a TWU strike overlapped with an election and didn’t hurt turnout, but that was not an election where a president was being chosen.

“It’s gonna hurt,” Brady said on the possibility of the strike extending to Election Day. “It’ll hurt.” … http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/in-transit/SEPTA-strike-begins.html

      • November 1, 2016 at 5:16 pm

Hmmm.. seems like this should get settled. PA is absolutely critical.

      • 62 GGail
        November 1, 2016 at 6:24 pm

Then the campaign should go to Plan B.
Round up volunteers with Vans, SUVs, and vehicles of all kinds to volunteer to transport voters within a certain square mile radius

        • November 1, 2016 at 8:02 pm

Most of the polls are located in the community itself…within walking distance.. some folks will vote before work…some will vote after work…the trouble comes in the with the timeline available to vote because of the strike…you may have had to make other arrangements to get to work…or pick up your children after work…it definitely will have an impact on folks availability to get to the polls…

i believe that either TWU or SEPTA or both hope to your the election as leverage to force the other side to concede

  30. November 1, 2016 at 4:57 pm

I have to wonder what’s going on behind the scenes with PBO and Loretta Lynch and how they are dealing with Comey’s rogue behavior.

    • November 1, 2016 at 4:58 pm

There’s been a relative silence in the media today from Dems on this. Makes me wonder if there isn’t an understanding to leave Comey alone because he intends to do the right thing and wrap this up.

      • 66 carolyn
        November 1, 2016 at 6:20 pm

Whenever there is silence like this, I KNOW something is going on, and some announcement is soon to be made. PBO plays his cards close, and his group does not leak. Either he knows Comey is going to do the “right thing,” I don’t see that from his actions, or he is giving Comey enough rope to hang himself. Frankly, I don’t see any good outcome for Comey over this. the President will look to the future of the entire FBI…..that is more important than Comey’s future. He is damaging the credibility and integrity of the FBI.

Thanks to the TOD’ers who posted that Architectural Digest story about the Obama’s residence at the WH. So beautiful. Much too big for my tastes, but they’ve made the bigger spaces look so warm and comfortable with the colours and the comfy-looking couches, etc. Also, I spied a turntable and some LP’s! 🙂

Belated birthday greetings to all those who have celebrated very recently. I myself recently tuned the big 5-0 and feel that this would be an excellent year for me to also be able to celebrate the US electing it’s first female president. 🙂

In light of the barrage of horrid faux ‘news’ we’ve all been facing for too long, every time I see RanMan’s “Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America,” I stop and re-read it, and really let it sink in, and I.AM.SO.GRATEFUL.

Also eternally grateful to Chips for her good sense and taste in creating this online haven, and to Nerdy for maintaining it for everybody in Chips’ absence.

      GE FoxfireTX.

Not really in the loop as to what’s going on with @fbirecordsvault, except for the sprinkling of tweets in my timeline and upthread.

      But there’s this…

Can’t find the tweet now, but saw one which mentioned that all tweets in question were posted at 4am EDT, clearly auto-posted by a bot (am also confused because those tweets are dated October 30 [Sunday], but it took over 24 hours for twitter freak out)/

The only other tweet this year was posted yesterday at 8am (the one about WJC and Marc Rich).

Other notable things in PBO’s speech today too.

Hard to believe that it’s apparently warmer in Cleveland now than SoCal (think our high temp today was 65F-ish, and radio tells me temp in Cleveland when the World Series game began was 72F.

Know or have any ‘Christian’ friends/relatives who still need to be zapped back to their senses in this final week of campaigning? Maybe Rev Barber at the DNC would be a timely share.
