    Anybody else watching Rachel? Have her on in the background and I’m not paying 100 percent attention, but has she had any guests on? Seems as though it’s been the drone of her lone voice for almost the full hour.

    Yes siree, PBO’s presidency has been historic in so many, many ways! And very enlightening (for me anyways) too!

  6. October 26, 2016 at 9:55 pm

    Thank you, Nerdy! What an amazing gift to live in these historic times.

    Hope you’re feeling encouraged about Texas!

    I know that PBO always tells us that we are the ones we have been waiting for, but every movement needs a leader. He has been and will continue to be more than I dared to dream.

    At long last, they interview some people with a grain of sanity on the teevee.

      I had a vague suspicion that there were a few sane republicans somewhere in the US of A; it’s heartening to see one or five on the picture box. May their visible presence draw more repubs to the sane side this election!

      the voices of people who put the welfare of their country and their fellow citizens before the interests of their party;

      thank you for sharing this … I hope there a few more who are voicing these or similar sentiments at the ballot box (I suspect others may be afraid of coming forward publicly).

      October 27, 2016 at 9:34 am

      Anderson asked a question that had nothing to do with the interview and is rather insulting:” Are the women voting for Hillary because they want to see a woman as president?” It is another variation of asking A-A people if they voted for PBO because he is Black. The interviewer did not ask this and none of the group brought it up. He also ignored the fact that there were men in the group. Ugh! so tired of these msm fools.

    TODville – May I just mention that my son had his appointment today with his oncologist, who again pronounced him CANCER FREE! He returns in six months, then in another six months, then yearly after that, but today’s news is great! Life is good. God is great.

    On another note, he needs to have another bronchoscopy (his 12th medical procedure since June 28, 2015, when he had his right lung removed) next Thursday … the fix he had a while back has apparently come loose (the disk inside his chest has perhaps moved) and air is leaking (he can hear a swoosh sound when he breathes, which I can’t even imagine experiencing). His surgeon is concerned (it was the first time he ever performed this particular procedure, so it’s new territory for him). My son says he is glad the surgeon’s concerned, because he will handle it quickly and with gusto! So, we are celebrating all victories and I personally am stronger because my son is staying strong!

    And he’s cancer free, so everything else seems like “small potatoes.”

    Thanks again for your continuing thoughts and prayers – love you guys.

    Good evening TOD. Still can’t quite get my head around the fact that nearly 40% of Americans are supporting DT in this election. Tom Friedman had a summary of some of his fault:

    “Who do you know who has denigrated immigrants, the handicapped, Muslims and Mexicans; trashed all our recent trade agreements; mounted a fraudulent campaign claiming our president was not born in this country; insulted the whole presidential selection process by running for the highest office without doing a shred of homework; boasted of grabbing women by their genitals; disparaged our NATO allies; praised the dictatorial president of Russia and encouraged him to hack Democratic Party emails; vowed to prosecute his campaign rival if he got elected; threatened to curb the freedom of the press; suggested that gun rights advocates might take the law into their own hands if Hillary Clinton won; insulted the parents of a slain Iraq war hero; been accused by 11 women of sexual assault or other unwelcome physical advances; sought to undermine America’s electoral system by claiming, without a shred of evidence, that it is so “rigged” he can’t promise to concede if he loses; and been cited for lying about more things more times in more ways on more days than any presidential aspirant in history?

    This cocktail of toxic behaviors and attitudes is utterly alien to anyone who has ever run for president — and for good reason. But that is who Trump is. The big question now is, who are the rest of us?”
    http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/opinion/donald-trump-alien-to-all-thats-great.html

    Any ONE of these things would have sunk any other presidential campaign. I don’t watch any of his things but saw a headline where he apparently told ABC that he could teach the generals a thing or two about the Mosul campaign. The man is too stupid to even know what he doesn’t know.

    But if we’re going to prevent this from happening again, I think it behooves us to try to understand what made him so attractive to so many Americans. He offers no plans, no specific policies, so just what it is that so many find compelling about him? I am at a complete and utter loss to understand it. I know that racism, sexism and xenophobia accounts for a portion of his vote, but certainly not all of it. What am I missing here? Personally, I can’t find a single redeeming quality in this man. He represents everything I despise.

    The GOOD news is that he will never be president! But it appears that the problems this country faces certainly are larger than anything I was aware of before this election season.

      why are people surprised?

      hate of others and lack of ability to seek and accept facts, can be very corrosive

      remember that even :

      – at the height of the economic crisis, when millions around the globe thought that economic Armageddon was here, close to 50 million people voted against the person (spoiler alert, candidate was black) who they knew was better suited to help rectify the situation;

      – after this country understood that the president had lied to them about WMDs and into a disastrous war, these same voters gave him a second term because they “hated the gays” and the liar-in-chief was someone they would prefer “to have beer with”;

      what is worse is that there are probably a number of people who are not saying it (i.e. the “undecided” or NeverTrump) but will close the curtain of their voting booth and happily vote for the homegrown demagogue

        October 27, 2016 at 1:18 am

        Linda, there is no doubt that this accounts for some of it, but when I was much younger I knew many Republicans, including my dad, who were not hate filled. On the contrary, the life he lived would make him a Democrat today. And far more people in the US are accepting of gays, once it moved that whole movement went very quickly.

        Recently, I’ve started to wonder just how much the global and technological changes simply are frightening to perhaps many people. Since the Industrial Revolution, we have not seen the kind of sweeping changes that we’ve seen in our lifetimes. Recently (for some crazy reason) I was trying to explain to my daughter what “carbon paper” was and the way we made copies of originals. She stared at me in amazement. When I was in law school, we were thrilled when the Selectric typewriters came out and we had justified margins for the first time. But for others, who are not exposed to the changes on a day to day basis–other than perhaps through cell phones–the way the world is changing around them may simply be frightening.

        In any event, I am going to try to continue to ponder it. We have a great deal of healing to do in this country once the election is over.

          GM Foxfire.

          Don’t think it’s “economic uncertainty” that compels DJT supporters.

          It’s the mindset of “it’s my way or the highway” (per Urban Dictionary: “The attitude of believing that one is always right and that anyone who doesn’t agree has no business dealing with you.”)

          Have seen one TRUMP bumpersticker (on a noisy, oversized pickup truck, natch — there seem to be far more of these far-too-loud, obnoxious vehicles around than ever before) and thought to myself “Why don’t you just ADVERTIZE that you’re an a**hole? — you just know that truck will speed, tailgate, and cut off anyone in his way).

          From this article (sorry it’s from The Intercept, which I loathe):

          And today (haven’t read due to @nytimes article limit, not worth the click to me):

          the majority of people who are hurting most economically are voting for SoS HRC;

          the core of the demagogue’s support is a resistance to cultural and demographic change … media may try to use the term “economic anxiety” but that is because they are afraid to get down to the core of the matter;

          why are supporters of the demagogue almost immediately going back to raising the argument of “those lazy people getting free stuff” although that is what their candidate has been for years

            October 27, 2016 at 9:56 am

            oh, I forgot to add that I have read reports about the average incomes of the demagogue’s supporters and estimates are about US $ 75,000 .. way above the poverty line;

            – case in point:

            – union workers in my state whose jobs were saved by PBO and earn much more that the state’s average.

            – add to this members of law enforcement who are determined to oppose any changes in the justice system to make them more accountable for the lives of the people who are minorities

    Ha. Nobody’s taking any chances, this year! I have a friend who – along with her daughter – drove to the local post office so they could walk inside and personally mail their absentee ballots (rather than just having the mail handler pick them up from their home mailbox).

    I read an article tonight online that showed photos of several actors for Trump. I touched on it originally due to a photo of an actress I recognized but could not remember who she was. I was surprised to see any woman supporting The Donald. Upon seeing all the famous people supporting him in the photos I realized the actress in the cover shot was not in the list anyway. Probably just click bait. Also one of the people supposedly for DT listed and pictured was Mark Cuban. I know that was totally wrong as he is one of Hillary’s biggest supporters and constantly talks out against Trump.

      The percentage of HRC’s win in states like PA will determine whether the Senate candidate win. If she remains over 6 percent, Katie will likely win. It’s all about coattails now.
