    Hillary Clinton Freed Child Rapist
Hillary Clinton’s role in a 40-year-old rape case became the focal point of a viral meme in 2016, but the claims made about it were mostly inaccurate

      And ain’t I a woman?
that little man in black there say
a woman can’t have as much rights as a man
      cause Christ wasn’t a woman.
Where did your Christ come from?
      From God and woman!
Man had nothing to do with him!
If the first woman that God ever made
was strong enough to turn the world
      upside down, all alone
together women ought to be able to turn it
      rightside up again.

Voted today at one of the many libraries in Jacksonville, Fla. that is serving as an early voting site. No lines, but brisk business at 2:30 this afternoon. The only decisions to be made were about various amendments (worded so that they can cause confusion., however, I have A Masters in English and it all but required one to work through the language) and judges. We have yet to receive the sample ballots even though this is the second day of early voting. As I pointed out to the elections office clerk to whom I spoke yesterday, not everyone has access to a computer to see the first draft of the sample ballot that they have published there. There is always something in Florida to cause problems during major elections.
Our poll watchers are always little old ladies (the one at my site looked as if she was in a daze), who could do little if there are issues. I had my phone ready with the FBI’s number to report any irregularities. The truth of the matter however, is that most of our election problems come in central and south Florida which has the largest number of democrats, so of course the GOP operatives go after them. Duval County always breaks for the rethugs, even though we put up some strong numbers for Barack in 2008 and 2012 that helped to bring the state home for him. As I reported a few days ago, we now have more active registered democrats so I am hoping that these numbers and with the help of sensible Independents and a the very few sensible Republicans who may jump ship, that the county will go Blue.

Hillary Clinton did something small, but very smart in Florida on Tuesday. She held her campaign rally across the street from an early voting polling place, so that her supporters can leave the rally and go vote.

The Clinton campaign is taking a page from the Obama playbook by holding rallies near early voting polling places, but it is something that Trump is not doing. While Hillary Clinton is holding rallies across the street from polling places, Donald Trump held his first event of the day at his Doral golf course.

    • October 25, 2016 at 10:07 pm

This is an incredibly smart campaign. Can’t believe the difference between 2016 and 2008. She has had time to come into her own,and shed the old Clinton advisers, while learning from President Obama and taking on many of the people who advised him. Smart people pick smart advisers.

Good afternoon TOD! I voted today. It felt sooooo good to vote for a woman at the top of the ticket. Wore white in honor of the suffragettes:-)

Given the record breaking numbers here yesterday, I was surprised it wasn’t terribly busy, no wait, but steady. What did surprise me was to see younger women voters. Not something that is usually seen at this polling station. The two young women in front of me, one of whom was Latina, were voting for the first time. So just maybe,,,,,,,, I’ll be curious to see how the early voting numbers look tomorrow. I know there are other TX voters here (and others who just may be curious), if you’re interested in following early voting the SoS posts the numbers from the previous day each morning. You can see them here: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/earlyvoting/index.shtml

“As it becomes increasingly clear that Hillary Clinton will win the presidential election, one of the things we’re hearing expressed in some quarters is an admonition for Democrats to reach out to Trump supporters. It strikes me that the arguments made about that are pretty devoid of any real policy analysis because Clinton has a whole array of proposals that would actually benefit white middle and working class Americans.

If you are unemployed, she has a plan to create thousands of new jobs via an investment in infrastructure.

If you aren’t earning enough money to make ends meet, she wants to raise the minimum wage.”

Democrats cannot dispel the anger/fear that drives the cultural/racial/religious/gender anxieties of Trump supporters. That is something for individuals and churches to deal with. In the meantime, Clinton’s policy proposals demonstrate an outreached hand to those who support her opponent.

GOPers always demand that democrats “lean out to them”. What they actually mean is – “democrats should implement republican policies”. PBO leant over backwards for them & they just walked further away.

This is really bad news for Donald. These voters would not have been included in any of these polls that are being taken and she is already showing a 4 point lead. I hope this continues right through election day.

On the same day Hillary Clinton was campaigning with Al Gore in Miami, President Obama was rallying for her in North Carolina.

Two days later, Michelle Obama would give her memorable speech in New Hampshire criticizing Donald Trump’s behavior with women, while Vice President Biden was campaigning for Clinton in Nevada.

The next week, Sen. Elizabeth Warren was touting the Democratic nominee in Ohio while Sen. Bernie Sanders rallied supporters for her in Nevada.

This is Clinton’s Army – a group of popular, powerful Democrats who have spread out across battleground states to criticize Trump and encourage early voting as part of their effort to win Clinton the White House.

It’s a stark contrast to the GOP nominee, whose most notable surrogates – Rudy Giuliani, Gov. Chris Christie, and Sen. Jeff Sessions – often campaign with the candidate or introduce him at rallies, though few other Republicans are willing to campaign for him.

    • 90 99ts
      October 26, 2016 at 12:13 am

Forget Christie – he’s got his own problems. If there wasn’t an election going on his face would be splattered over every news report – the bridgegate trial is showing up many many many liars – those who supported Christie & those who were too scared of him to tell the truth.

Obama Was Right About Republican Extremism All Along. They should’ve listened to his warnings about the dangers of right-wing rhetoric. Now they’re going to pay for it.

It should be alarming to Republican strategists that the outgoing Democratic president has a better handle on what’s happened to their party than GOP politicians and conservative intellectuals—many of whom blame Trump’s rise on the media, or liberal dirty tricks.

“When I was watching the president,” the conservative radio host John Ziegler told Business Insider, referring to the above remarks, “I was struck by how he seemed to understand the problems with conservative media more than any Republican does. It was frustrating to see him be the voice of reason.”

But the content of Obama’s argument shouldn’t be surprising to anyone who’s been paying attention, because he’s been making it for practically his entire presidency. In January 2010, when health care reform was stuck in limbo, Obama attended the House GOP issues conference in Baltimore, Maryland, and pleaded with Republican members of Congress to be more on the level about their disagreements with him. For his sake and for theirs.

It is gratifying, in some ways, to watch Obama take this final victory lap. There can be no more fitting repudiation of the the massive resistance strategy Republicans deployed against him than to leave office a political giant, with high approval ratings, and a list of substantive achievements to rival the greatest presidents in U.S. history—while the opposing party’s nominee, the embodiment of the Republican id, loses ignominiously.

Agree. I am loving every minute of his victory lap after the shit he has endured all these years. It is just such great karma to know their hatred of him has destroyed their beloved party. I want to see them go down in flames for their evil ways these last 8 years. I am usually not into revenge but I lost any good will towards any Republican on election night 2012 when not only did McConnell and Boehner not call him to congratulate him, they REFUSED to take his phone calls to them. That was the final straw for me.

      • October 26, 2016 at 9:03 am

Great piece. PBO wanted a loyal opposition but the GOP was loyal not to country but to themselves and their own grand self-serving ambitions. They deserve every single outrage that has befallen them.

So funny! Finally I found someone like me and what do you know, my hero to boot. I have considered early as on time my whole life. My Dad drummed into my head that after you figured out how much time it would take to get anywhere you add a half hour to forty-five minutes onto the time incase there is an unexpected event like heavy traffic, a flat tire etcetera. He mentioned so many things it sounded like there was no way to ever get anywhere without needing extra time. What amazes me is my Brothers never had an early issue.

All these exposés still coming out about Trump, from authors, old tapes, and via former business associates and the like ~ of his early childhood humiliations, the awful father aka his first role model, how he lives in an alternate reality perhaps because of those youthful experiences, all his failed business dealings, all the tales Ivana used to tell now being re-told ~ anybody else think when he loses, he won’t be able to handle it and will end it all? Losing this election would be the biggest loss out of everything he’s slapped his brand on. Could be even he would know it’s his last hurrah. Being Irish, I would not ordinarily mention this dark thought. But I, for one, would not be surprised.

Running behind, but for good cause. Working every day until the election at the local phone bank helping you all make those important calls to voters. Best story from yesterday…someone spoke to a woman with 9 daughters all going to walk the mile to the polls this morning to vote together for HRC .

Got Al Giordano’s most recent newsletter yesterday. LOve this part of it
“That problem is not going to be solved in one single election year but the White House has embarked on a plan that will continue long into the future and the Obama Museum in Chicago – which will include a kind of organizing academy as a big part of its mission – is going to play a role for decades to come. ”

Love how POTUS is keeping on organizing the country even after he leaves the White House

Must get some sleep so I’m ready for today’s shift. Keep well everyone, and I’ll try to drop in a few times between now and Election Day. GOTV!!
