I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of our dear GoBrooklyn. One of the joys of the internet is meeting people and cultivating what are deep friendships with people you would not otherwise meet. Such was the case with the brilliant and brave GoBrooklyn.

And that is how I feel about all of you. I want to take this moment to thank you all, and to celebrate what all of you have given me. In memory of dear GoBrooklyn.

Would like to take a moment to remember our fellow TODer, Gobrooklyn who has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. May she rest in peace. I echo Dakota and 57andfemale’s kind and healing words of condolences and warmest memories of Gobrooklyn. She will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace.

It’s such sad sorrowful news, knowing how hard she fought for so long, keeping her head high, moving forward each day. I am glad she is no longer suffering but she is missed. May her heart and soul be at rest.

Such sorrowful news. Go Brooklyn fought so hard. I hope a cure is found soon for this dreadful disease. RIP Go Brooklyn, my friend.

GoBrooklyn was the first one to express good wishes when I announced that I, too, was diagnosed and had a bone marrow transplant. She never failed to ask me how I was doing, while she was fighting her own illness. Hers is a voice that will be truly missed for it always carried kindness, compassion and empathy.

A cure of this disease in all its ugly and painful forms is what the world needs. And I will think of GoBrooklyn more often now.

          • October 24, 2016 at 1:26 pm

Go Brooklyn had a kind spirit and often times she was comical even though she was fighting a hard battle. This breaks my heart. It’s so sad. A cure for this mean & cruel disease is needed now!

I hadn’t seen this before, AMK! Thanks for sharing! And from the article:

Noting that Diwali has been celebrated every year at the White House since President Obama came to office, she said, “there’s a reason why we’ve done that. When we say that we want to make the White House the ‘people’s house’, we mean all people. We mean that we want to honor and embrace all of the many cultures and faith traditions that make us who we are as Americans. And Diwali is very much one of those traditions”.

Unless you closely know someone who has had stage 4 cancer of any type, and it metastases, you have no idea how brave and how hard GoBrooklyn fought to live and beat cancer.

I’m at work, but, I’ve mentally gotten down on my knees to thank God for her courageous fight and thankful that she is no longer in pain and misery. Again, if you have no knowledge, you have no idea how much pain she was going through and yet, she always had an upbeat comment or attitude online or on twitter.

Our angel has gotten her wings and has flown away. Rest in peace sweetie ❤

    • October 24, 2016 at 3:36 pm

My mother fought through stage 4 cancer from 2012 til November 6, 2015 when she died. I count it as a blessing to have been there with her until she passed. So yeah, I know.

Someone on the previous thread wanted to know who “Doug” was that PBO referred to…

“I think somebody called Darrell Issa ― was this you, Doug, who said Darrell Issa was Trump before Trump?” Obama said, referring to Issa’s challenger retired Marine Col. Doug Applegate. “And now he’s sending out brochures touting his cooperation with me. Now, that is shameless.”

In fact, in the HuffPost story last week that touched on the mailer, Applegate’s campaign spokesman, Robert Dempsey, had compared Issa to Trump.

“Issa was Trump before Donald Trump,” Dempsey told HuffPost last month in Oceanside.

Issa hit back on the president Monday, faulting Obama for the death of Americans abroad and at home.

“I’ve worked with the administration on good legislation where it was possible, and called out wrongdoing wherever I saw it, and will continue to do so,” Issa said in a statement.

Applegate’s long-shot bid against Issa caught the Democratic Party’s attention when he came within 5.3 percentage points of Issa in California’s free-for-all primary. The race rating was changed to “toss-up” by the Cook Political Report ― a nonpartisan newsletter tracking elections ― earlier this month, a sign that Issa’s re-election is in doubt. If Democrats do manage to take back the House or make a significant dent in Republicans’ majority, it will happen because of races like Issa’s.

Hi, I asked the question about Doug. I was not understanding the context of the post thinking PBO got mixed up and called Darrell Doug instead. Thanks for explaining this to me.

      October 24, 2016 at 9:18 pm

I just posted an answer to this post and do not see it anywhere so will try again. I asked why PBO said the name Doug instead of Darrell in the post, but mentioned I read further down that he used both names as if they were separate people. I mentioned I looked up Issa on Wikipedia and found his middle name was Edward. I admitted confusion. Thank you for explaining it to me.

POTUS is so right about FLOTUS! LOL! She was hoping that she could do only a few campaign appearances to rally the Obama Troops but DT is so toxic to any caring, feeling, human being that you would have to be crazy not to want to stop him and the GOP who props him up as a legit candidate.

Then I go to Michael McDonald on elect project in Twitter…

    What’s going on?

It’s impossible to compare OH I think. If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that OH cut one week of early voting. So the numbers will be substantially different from 2012 at the same time. Likewise in NC, they have cut the number of early voting places substantially, which of course has changed the numbers. In one county, they went from 21 polling places in 2012 to ONE currently.
