Wow– ‘truth is what serves the party’. On the one hand, this is clearly absurd. And on the other, I can see just how this notion underscores a lot of politics. Thanks for posting, Ladyhawke!

    • October 24, 2016 at 11:11 am

And this is what sums up Donald Trump in a nutshell: “Truth is what serves Donald Trump”. They thought his idea of truth was the same as theirs. They were wrong.

I don’t seem able to watch – or it’s finished?? but speaking of Nevada

    http://www.ktnv.com/news/ralston/the-nevada-early-voting-blog Jon Ralston

I now have the district totals for the first day of early voting and the down-ballot numbers also are awful for the GOP.
CD3: Registration is 37-35, Democratic. First day: 3,000 raw-vote lead for Democrats. 47 percent, Democratic; 34 percent, Republican. So Democrats were 10 percent above registration and Republicans 1 point below

    Same for every district!

These tweets are bringing me to tears. Look at how far he’s brought us; from throwing shoes to “WE LOVE YOU!”. Never mind the ACA and all the other legislative accomplishments, He has brought hope and faith and fellowship and good cheer and LOVE back. And the people who wanted him to lash back and act like a Democratic bully were SO WRONG! His constant use of conciliation as ruthless strategy and the integrity with which he has treated the most undeserving has won him respect and deep abiding love all over the world and has restored our respect for the presidency. This is a time like no other.

Thanks for everything Nerdy! This was the BEST rally! PBO was having a blast. He is enjoying himself. Thought it was interesting, he mentioned the Senate candidate’s name more than Hillary’s, AND this is the first time I recall him being so deliberate about the House candidates. Name checked them a number of times. They are doing their best to flip both chambers. Wouldn’t that be spectacular!

These last two weeks is where having all these surrogates will make such a difference. With all of them out, plus the stars, they can cover so much territory. It has an impact. And Hilz has the momentum, you can feel it everywhere. She is peaking at exactly the right time. It could be a blowout but no complacency.

On a more serious note, saw this afternoon where Wikileaks had gotten into a couple of Chelsea’s email accounts and had published some of her emails. Assange is despicable.

    • 65 99ts
      October 23, 2016 at 9:26 pm

Surrogates – Hillary has them all – the idjit has a couple of has beens who spend their time defending the stupid
Emails – it seems the push to ignore them because of how they were obtained & how they may have been altered is winning. Other than for Squint and the Meat Puppet (thank you Charles Pierce) emails are a passing mention.

      • 66 jackiegrumbacher
        October 23, 2016 at 9:36 pm

99, Hillary was born under a lucky star when it comes to outstanding surrogates. I doubt any candidate in our history had more dynamic and powerful speakers working for them than she does.

    • October 24, 2016 at 11:25 am

I read an article that made the point that this email hacking is not the action of a whistleblower, who has knowledge of specific wrong-doing and is trying to call attention to it to correct it. The correct analogy is to the break-in at the Democratic Naitonal Headquarters at the Watergate. It is a tactic to steal confidential campaign information. Now it’s gone further and is just hacking personal email. And all the so-called ‘progressives’ who are sooooo worried about the government reading their Facebook posts (which they keep posting anyway) are all in favor of other people’s privacy being violated in plain sight.

    • 72 FoxfireTX
      October 23, 2016 at 9:58 pm

Saw that. There is a UT/TXTrib poll due out in the next couple of days. That is local so should be pretty clear. Frankly, I do not expect her to take TX this time around. A big part of the problem here is the voter id laws disenfranchise so many people, and the GOP governor, sec state, etc don’t care. The state has been taken back to court two times after the voter id law was struck down, they just go back, change something minor, and do it again. Keep in mind, we have counties here that refuse to provide BIRTH CERTIFICATES to children born here if their parents’ can’t provide a whole bunch of documentation. But if she can bring it within 5 points it will happen eventually. This was never a big Trump state, we have the lovely Cruz, so I am not all that surprised by the polling numbers. With the CBS age breakdown, it is the over 45 I believe where Trump is carrying it. As is just about everywhere, the GOP is simply going to die from extinction if they don’t make major changes.

Finally, we do not have a strong Democratic party structure here. They just cannot seem to find the right people to do it. Will be interesting to see if that changes in the future. I basically quit the Dem party here in 2008. I was the Volunteer Director for Tarrant County for the Obama campaign, which is the third larget county in the state. Two weeks before the start of early voting the Dem party decided to pull all support for PBO’s campaign. EVERYONE that was volunteering was doing so because of PBO, not because of the state Dem party. So we broke off from them and finished on our own. It was a very disappointing experience.

Sounds good bella – every vote counts – voting early means not getting caught up on election day.

    • October 23, 2016 at 9:47 pm

I’m going to the board of elections tomorrow to file my absentee ballot. The absentee is my backup plan. When I vote in person, they’ll pull and destroy the absentee; should something prevent in-person voting, my vote has been cast…

      • 80 99ts
        October 23, 2016 at 10:42 pm

Works very differently in my part of the world. If you apply for an absentee(postal) vote your name is marked off the roll & you cannot vote in person. I lost the ballot paper once & that was it – could not vote.

        • October 23, 2016 at 11:17 pm

Here, the “regular” absentee ballot must be in a week before the election; it is delivered to your polling place with the voting machines. If you are able to vote in person, the absentee ballot is pulled. After the deadline, if you need an “emergency” absentee ballot, there are provisions for that…

            • October 23, 2016 at 11:26 pm

Each state has different rules! Personally, I think for federal elections, the rules should be uniform.

              • 84 99ts
                October 23, 2016 at 11:36 pm

Ours are the same for federal elections – run by the feds. States are different – but not massively so. We had a RWNJ state leader for a few years – introduced voter ID – NEVER has existed anywhere. I refused to take any ID when I went to vote. Took me an extra 30 minutes to vote – had to declare all sorts of things – but the vote counted. Not quite game to deny the vote. I’d voted in the same place for 30 years – knew all the poll workers – and they still try this b.s.

Issa, Obama said, is one of the Republicans he blames for fanning the flames that created Donald Trump, and is now trying to run from Trump as the polls plummet. The California Republican is also one of those kind of Republicans, according to Obama, who spits fire at him and then shows up with family members for pictures at the White House Christmas party every year.

“Some of them say, ‘I’m praying for you,’” Obama said. “And I don’t question the sincerity that they are praying for me: ‘Please change this man from the socialist Muslim that he is.”

    He paused.

“I’m sure it’s more sincere than that,” he said, laughing.

      *GOP Devastation

^^^ Has a nice ring to it (historically, no, because we need two SANE parties, but they gave up sane a long time ago). Guess maybe the country doesn’t think Hillary’s a she-devil, after all. Trump’s going down. Yay!

The so-called “sane” republicans think they will be able to rebuild their party – but their “limited government” and social issues against health care, safety nets, social security, immigration, women’s rights are what developed into the TeaParty & lost them everyone except white men who think they have the right to rule. There will be two parties but neither will resemble the GOP as it is today.

I think there are a few things missing from Sam’s analysis which earlier polls not yet picking up
        1. Impact of PBO ramping up his campaigning for the lower down races – Hillary is also turning to help senate/house races
        2. Lower turnout by republicans as in the last ABC/WaPo poll – this will be a massive help to the senate and the house
        3. No ground game by the GOP nominee – all he knows are rallies – which are yoooge.

The campaign manager lady was all over the media sunday saying they were behind because Hillary had all these millions of $ which were used to make ads that said terrible things about Donald. Her guy got billions in free media – & still they complain.

I laughed and I laughed and I laughed. Campaigns raise money, make ads and GOTV. Dear Donald has done none of these things. He really thought his name would be enough to get him elected.

Some people would say that the GOP nominee is only willing to pay his own companies for campaign expenses and unfortunately he doesn’t own any media companies wherein he could book advertising time.

One of the comments earlier mentioned the anti-Hillary/hate merchandise that is prominent at Trump rallies. That seems to indicate that much of his support is not so much pro-Trump but anti-Hillary/Democrats/liberals. Perhaps that’s why his supporters are so wishy-washy in their support for him and easily defect as he becomes more and more of a lost cause.

      • 152 57andfemale
        October 24, 2016 at 11:02 am

I think the Dems & the vast majority of whiny liberals have left the Trump camp. This merchandise is the result of the hate generated by Trump (and I’m afraid a little bit by Bernie during the primaries, although he has been a good surrogate of late).

That is so sad to hear – she was so brave & such a sweetheart. Privileged to spend time online with her.

OH, NO. OMG, this is so sad. She gave us so much intelligence and thoughtfulness. She was heroic.

RIP, our dear GoBrooklyn. Our hearts are with you.

My condolences. I always perked up when I saw her tweets in the twitterverse or when she was here and looked forward to what she had to say. She had a lot of positive energy! I’m sad she’s gone. RIP.

I am sad to hear this. I was just thinking of her last week. We can be comforted in the knowledge that she is no longer suffering and in pain. Rest in Peace, GoBrooklyn.

      {{{ ❤ GoBrooklyn ❤ }}} RIP
I was worried about her. Last week, I asked of her, here. Then I tweeted to her 2X, w/o any reply. Her last Tweet activity was on 26Sept16 or so.
      What a loss.
My deepest sympathy to her family.

You went through a lot during your illness but you were always upbeat.
