Congrats on #1, share your (and everyone else here at TOD) thoughts about our spectacular NerdyW, keeping us all going #StrongerTogether, and hoping all is well for Chips and Danny this fine Sunday morning.
Can’t find the tweet now, but saw one yesterday that said how *cold* it was in Philly for Clinton-Kaine rally — could use some of that chill in SoCal — temps hovering near 100F this week đŚ .
This is why I always chuckle when I hear Trump and his idiot supporters arguing that Clinton will be four more years of Obama. That’s alright with me! Hope it works out to 8 more years of President Obama.
Absolutely correct — was trying to say (and completely fumbled — that PBO’s appearance at San Diego fundraiser was specifically prompted by his support FOR @applegatecd49 and his visceral OPPOSITION against that oily weasel-snake Issa.
Mentioned earlier here that the 3 races that PBO is most interested in shifting his way are for:
1) FL – Patrick Murphy (Marco Rubio: worse than an oily weasel-snake, another GOP candidate that MSM shower with love, and LovePolitics2008 is exactly right to say that PBO is taking aim directly on Rubio’s 2020 presidential ambitions)
2) CA – Doug Applegate (Darrell Issa #shameless oily weasel-snake)
3) NV – Catherine Cortez-Masto (as a retirement gift to his friend and tenacious supporter/leader Harry Reid)
Thanks, Dudette. A great ad!! I love seeing stories like these. Just good solid Americans simply wanting a decent life. Not a lot. Just a decent amount. This is the true America.
I hope you are almost back to normal, or better than normal.

Funny that you mention McGurk and that comment you just made about him.
just a few days ago, I had wanted to ask you for your thought about him and his role in the current administration.
to me he seems like he is SoS Kerry’s extra help, joining forces with him to do the heavy foreign policy lift in the hotspots and joining hands with him overseeing the execution of operations.
he, like SoS is a very trusted, dedicated and hardworking foreign service officer with great familiarity with on-the-ground operations and the intricate networks.
I have also been wondering if SoS HRC will keep him in some high position in her administration (hoping for the best)
My hope is that Amb Power will be Pres-Elect Clinton’s choice for SoS. I can see McGurk being elevated to an Under Secretary of State for the ME, at a minimum.
She and Hillary had bad blood from the 2008 race, remember? Sam called Hillary “a monster” and Barack had to let her go from his campaign to soothe ruffled feathers (knew he would need her voters in the general). Also, it appears to me that Hillary prefers working with men when it comes to the higher positions. I do not get the feeling at all that her administration (if she is elected; I never consider it done until the fat lady has sung and gone on vacation) will elevate women to the key positions.
Amb. Powers apologized in person to SoS HRC for that comment;
I would hope that most elected officials (especially Dems) have learned from PBO that carrying petty grudges should be ignored if you believe that the person who slighted you will help you advance crucial national priorities;
let us see how many have learned from PBO … the future awaits

Morning Y’all! ⤠I believe I have been given a glimpse of a bright and logical future, over the next 10-15 years: hilz will get a lot done, despite the ugly ones pushing against her. She has seen it all, has the moxy to ignore the drivel and get on with the job ahead (including keeping Billo on a short leash with a muzzle), as she lays the groundwork for The Next President of the United States: Michelle Obama, 2020.
I’m a quite serious â¤đđđżđ After a respite from her role as FLOTUS, first daughter Malia will have graduated Harvard, Sasha will have had some seriously high quality time (more even than usual!) with both her parents as she completes high school, Michelle will have had a rest and feel rejuvenated. The entire world will be starved for Obama energy, and Michelle will be only 56, so no question she will have an abundance of energy. Intelligent, compassionate, brilliant with all peoples, loved by all peoples, who better to step up to take command of it all than Michelle Obama? Neither she nor Barack will be quite satisfied they are doing enough living an ‘ordinary’, ‘quiet’ life, (as if either of them ever have), the gop will be in in a grave so deep they will never surface again, and the republican party may be in a much needed restructuring phase. Witnessing from a detached perspective how deeply positive her own influence is, I truly believe Michelle Obama will come to embrace how much good she is able to do as First AA Female POTUS! Her spiritual strength will be critically and crucially vital, with Barack by her side, to help this withering planet through what’s coming. And that, dear TODOBots, was my thought for the day, dropped into my brain fully formed! (Honestly, language and word differences are so slow compared to intuitive thought!) Bye, off to church with my tiny little Angel Lady, almost 90 now, still devoted to serving salad to her celived homeless in a Sunday! â¤
Although it’s a lovely dream, Michelle Obama has no interest in running for President. I believed her when she said it before and I believe the person who knows her best, PBO.
I know, and have totally honored and been in simpatico with her all the way! So I was pretty surprised when this thought dropped in while I was getting ready to leave for church! And we know sometimes a change in circumstances can create a change in our thinking. PBO said in his ‘job interview training’ with Colbert, there is One Person higher than him, whom he answers to: Michelle. She’s so beyond capable of handling it.. that’s why this occurred to me! Hey, we all can dream!đđť â¤ď¸đšđđťđšâ¤ď¸đđť
okay, I just saw the first social media comment that some person or people, referred to as “US Vigilante Hackers”, have attacked and defaced the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
many people expected this kind of individually(or group)-motivated retaliation to eventually happen, … given the wikiLeaks, and most recently the DOS attacks;
I don’t know how all this will end … but I am still thinking of the warning VP Joe gave that at the time and place of its choosing, the US government will respond … so I wait and observe;
Bill Clinton came to our town yesterday. This is bright red territory. We are often referred to as lower Alabama. When organizers initially got a venue for his appearance, they got a room that holds approximately, 400 people. By the time they realized the RSVPs were more than they had anticipated, they tried getting another venue. I don’t know why they didn’t get one, but the number of folks that showed up yesterday for our little town, was way more.
We had Millennials who traveled three hours from Tulane University in New Orleans to serve as volunteers. They were passing around the tickets for folks to enter. One smart thing they did with those forms, they got people to put their information on it, but also, had a slot of times spread out for people to check off to volunteer.
I was one of the lucky ones to get in. I was on line at 12:00. The doors opened at 2:30. The lines snaked all around the two streets, so many were left out. It was a very diverse group. It was lively. People having good conversations.
Something totally different, the GOP mayor of my city introduced the Dem. councilman, who introduced Bill.
Bill was good. He talked about down ballot tickets some, mostly about Hillary’s plan versus the Birther. He told about Birther’s message about Making America Great Again. He said as a White Southerner, he knows exactly what Birther is telegraphing.
In any case, it was a good turn out. We are going to vote here in large numbers especially in Escambia County, judging from my own impression I get when canvassing. At least we will help with the popular vote.
One little note. I saw first hand the nastiness of Birther’s supporters while we stood on a street corner. One car literally almost climbed up on the little curvy side walk where we stood, revving his engine. Others pulled bodies out of their car to yell F-You. All were white men, although we had few of the women who gave us thumbs down.
But for the most part, we got lots of honks, thumbs up, one nice gentleman even brought us water.
The ugly hate in their hearts will chew them up. You just keep holding your head up and be proud of who you are and the woman who will be President:) There are more of us than there are of them:)
Wish the highly paid, always complaining, elite east coast media would spend their time actually seeing what happens in the less populated portions of our country.
Would be an eye-opening experience for them and might convince them that #WhitePrivilege and #WhiteSupremacy is a real force in many places in this country.
Wish there were a way that all the hate in this country could be zapped and eliminated forever. Hate is so unproductive, eats at and consumes those who rely on it.
Thanks for the report africa! It sounds (mostly) positive – what a FANTASTIC turnout! I agree with DF, those consumed with hate will only have it eat them up in the end (well put DF).
All in all a very encouraging report from your republican part of the state! đ
The Israeli Tech That Will Turn Your Smartphone Into an X-ray Machine
The advanced technology is based on new theories which have shaken up conventional wisdom about what happens when light passes through a semi-opaque surface – like skin. If nothing else, new tech would be a hit among peeping toms, Dr. Ori Katz jokes.
Imagine a smartphone app that can see through frosted glass, the kind protecting our privacy in bathrooms, and take sharp, clear photographs. Technology that can do just that is being developed by the Applied Physics Department at Hebrew University.
Dr. Ori Katz and his colleagues in the Advanced Imaging Unit have achieved distinct photographs of images beyond semi-opaque glass using a smartphone. Voyeurs wanting to peep are likely to make the advanced optical technology a hit; grant money probably wonât be a problem, he jokes.
Katz, however, has loftier goals in mind, such as medical imaging. For instance, seeing through tissue. Not to look at the naked body but inside it; to observe what happens beneath our skin, at resolution so high itâs microscopic.

Chicago has become a hotbed of gun violence in recent years â especially on the South Side. Nearly 6,000 people have been shot since the beginning of 2015, and Chicago experienced 78 homicides in August alone, making it the deadliest month the city has seen in nearly two decades. Some residents have nicknamed the city âChi-raq,â a portmanteau of Chicago and Iraq, because it can feel like a war zone.
Manasseh, however, has found some success in curbing the violence, and sheâs looking to build upon it. She founded a nonprofit, Mothers Against Senseless Killings, which has raised approximately $20,000 to fund the street corner presence and support cash-strapped young men who might otherwise turn to crime.

HINDMAN, Ky. Many of these counties have been devastated by the collapse of the coal industry over the past few years, and their financial struggles are not all Justice’s fault. But county officials say things would be a lot easier if he paid up.

Hi Alycee, I did that a while back. Cleaning out the freezer, that is. Came across some items in plastic containers with no labels. Thank you JER for posting tweet for PBO’s appearance in Las Vegas. Always excited to see PBO visit the West — which doesn’t happen very often — except for this summer when he visited Carlsbad Caverns, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, it’s been awhile since he’s made public appearances here.

Sensing the possibility of a wave, both Clinton and Obama are turning their attention to downballot campaigns as well, in order to give Clinton the broadest possible governing majority. In a remarkable move with weeks still left in her own race, Clinton is spending ad money in states she doesnât need toâlike Indiana, Missouri and Michiganâin order to help House and Senate races:
Trump Tower is no ordinary property: It is the jewel in Donald Trump’s brass crown. He lives at the top in a three-story penthouse with his third wife and third son. But it’s more than just Trump’s home. With its flashy outward image barely concealing a rotting, garbage-filled core, it’s a metaphor for the man. A visit to the building’ public gardens, which he agreed to create in 1979 in exchange for the rights to make his Tower 20 floors higher, reveals the truth. âI felt like if I didnât do something, it would come for my kids eventually,â said Manasseh, who sells real estate and studies for her ordination in her spare time. âSo Iâm more afraid of what happens if I donât get out there and do something than I am if I do. Iâm more afraid of one of my kids being shot than I am of me being shot.â

She founded a nonprofit, Mothers Against Senseless Killings, which has raised approximately $20,000 to fund the street corner presence and support cash-strapped young men who might otherwise turn to crime.

one person making a difference, one life at a time
Indeed, GCL, and this eventually leads/will lead to us being ‘closer together’. đ
In the 70s here in Philly…Moms did the same thing re: young men gang warring…Falaka Fatah…started the House of Imoja to give young people a safe place to hang in the neighborhood
as an aside Cong Fatath is her son…you have to wonder what his mom would say to his being convicted of fraud and racketeering….
Maybe pigs CAN fly!!!
I will breathe normally again when the vote totals come in …. there is so much at stake and yet millions of our fellow citizens don’t seem to care about the damage the homegrown demagogue would do domestically and abroad
http://www.usnews.com/news/business/articles/2016-10-23/west-virginia-candidate-for-governor-owes-millions-in-taxes
HINDMAN, Ky. (AP) â Jim Justice, a coal billionaire running for West Virginia governor, owes millions in back taxes to some of Appalachia’s most impoverished counties, including one in Kentucky that is struggling to pay the debt on a new rec center and has turned the lights off in its parks and reduced hot meals for senior citizens.
Many of these counties have been devastated by the collapse of the coal industry over the past few years, and their financial struggles are not all Justice’s fault. But county officials say things would be a lot easier if he paid up.
But the good folks of West Virginia will vote against their own best interest.
Yes, sadly they will
Back home… Delivered my spare clipboards to GOTV office; planned to enter data, however, VB was having a love/hate relationship with me today… Worked on election day logistics…
Now, I’m going to tackle some long overdue housework. Cleaning out my freezer — found some mystery items that my cousin left three years ago! Needless to say, those items hit the trash barrel… Goal is to use all of the freezer and pantry contents before eating out or buying anything other than fresh produce and milk…
Read you later!
Hi Alycee, I did that a while back. Cleaning out the freezer, that is. Came across some items in plastic containers with no labels. Certainly made for some interesting meals when I thawed each of them outđ Hope your freezer offers up some delicious meals for you. In the meantime, stay well and thanks for all you are doing for the campaign.

That’s also the way it’s been in Montana. We did finally turn on the heat. We don’t have air conditioning, we just open doors and windows. I love fall.

So sorry.
Good news awaits PBO in Las Vegas.

Funny!
Let’s take a stroll through his messy rest stop for a glimpse of the kind of care and attention that Americans can expect from a President Trump.
Lovely video of the Obamas set to the song “I Love You”. Going to miss the hell out of them come January.
