~None of this is accidental, and Hillary Clinton knows it. Conservative moneymen have spent inordinate sums of money to paint a sinister picture of her, using sophisticated propaganda techniques to render her toxic to the American electorate.~

This is a powerful video. I cried not just because of this beautiful girl but because I was one of those americans that after decades of conditioning I too developed a negative inner emotion when the name Hillary was spoke. Decades and millions of dollars have been spent by the GOP and pushed by the media, to have us all part of the great “PAVLOV”S DOG” experiment in America. For that I too must say I am sorry for my part in the early anti-Hillary camp. She is a strong woman, that has endured so much vile and hate. Who amongst us could still be standing with our head up. Thank you Hillary.

Hey, Bill. You were right. I got my ballot today. I voted and will mail it out on Monday. Although I may just take it to the mailbox tomorrow instead. My Dad voted in the Primary of 2008 for Barack while he was in the skilled care unit and I took it in for him right away. He died two days later. I remember thinking I would always turn my ballot in immediately cuz you never know when it is your turn to go.

*It’s probably a distant memory for most people now, but during both of Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns (as well as during his administration), one of the things we heard regularly from pundits was that he was lucky. Here is part of what Gary Younge wrote about that back in 2012:

Barack Obama has often been lucky with his enemies…

Now, as he heads for reelection, he must be saying a prayer every day in thanks for Mitt Romney…

The principal beneficiary would be Obama. The president should be fighting for his life. Instead, he’s living on his luck.*

The opponents for PBO and Sec Clinton were chosen by the GOP – presumably they choose the best they have available – or they are slam dunk stupid (probably both). Media never mentions “luck” when a republican wins – it always comes back to that divine right to rule, that never ending thought that democrats have ideals but GOPers do the work

The past 8 years have shown just how wrong they are. Listening to PBO introducing the concert above – he researches every last thing related to what he does. He knows it all. Hillary is doing the same – there is no luck – there in intelligence, knowledge and giving 100% each and every day.

        heh, neat trick. cool.

Iowa is the spot where Donald Trump stands his best chance of turning a blue state red, but Hillary Clinton’s campaign team is aiming to quell that possibility by turning loyal Republicans into Democratic voters.

At households where voters have long participated in GOP primaries and caucuses, Clinton volunteers are knocking on doors asking for the women in the house. The Democratic nominee’s aides also are sending mail to Republican women and advertising to them online with reminders to vote.

Liz Cox, a West Des Moines school-board member who was elected as a delegate to the Polk County GOP convention this spring, said volunteers from Mrs. Clinton’s campaign called her repeatedly to ask for her support. Though she backed Mitt Romney in 2012, Ms. Cox said she will vote for Mrs. Clinton Nov. 8.

        ///

Though the Clinton campaign has a robust team in Iowa, it appears to be placing less emphasis on the state than some other places. Mrs. Clinton hasn’t visited Iowa since Sept. 29, and on Thursday, the campaign sent its high-powered surrogates elsewhere—first lady Michelle Obama spoke in Arizona, President Barack Obama campaigned in Florida and Vice President Joe Biden stumped in New Hampshire.

Meanwhile, volunteers at a Clinton phone bank in Ankeny on Monday night called supporters inviting them to see former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who planned several stops in Iowa on Thursday and Friday.

It was a rare feel-good moment in a vicious campaign: Flanked by House Speaker Paul Ryan in an elementary school this week, freshman GOP Rep. Carlos Curbelo promoted a pet program to help children of immigrants in his Hispanic-heavy district learn English.

But across town at that very moment, Curbelo’s Democratic opponent was staging a protest timed to Ryan’s visit. The message from former Rep. Joe Garcia: A vote for Curbelo is worse than a vote for Donald Trump. No matter that the freshman Republican has opposed Trump all year long.

When it comes to House Democrats’ ongoing quest to hitch Trump’s offensive comments to vulnerable GOP incumbents, Republicans representing districts with large Latino populations are feeling the most heat. Their nominee has called illegal immigrants ā€œrapists,” ā€œcriminalsā€ — and, at the last debate, ā€œbad hombres.” Not to mention Trump’s calls for forced deportation and a towering border wall.

Democrats are sparing no effort or expense on the strategy. Their success, particularly in places like Florida’s 26th district, where three of every four residents are Latino, could go a long way in deciding whether Democrats can pull off a once-unthinkable takeover of the House.

This article made me very angry. PA has a state rule that poll watchers must come from the county where the polling place is located. But the PA Republican Party doesn’t ‘trust’ Philadelphia County to certify honest poll watchers, so they are asking that judges overturn the state rule to allow them to invade the biggest and most populous county in the state. I hope the judges tell them where they can put this blatantly racist/threatening move. Philadelphia does not need help from the Republican Party in other counties. Apparently the Philadelphia DA feels the same way and has asked for increase numbers of ‘county’ poll watchers to be assigned to polling places. November 8 is going to be a very long day.

The board of the nation’s largest group of LGBT Republicans has voted to not endorse Donald Trump, in a contentious decision that did not reflect the preference of many of its chapters.

While the Log Cabin Republicans are united against Hillary Clinton, the group’s 14-member national board narrowly voted on Tuesday to ā€œwithholdā€ an endorsement of the Republican nominee, according to Gregory T. Angelo, the organization’s president.

It’s the second time the official national group has chosen not to back the GOP nominee — the prior time was 2004 for George W. Bush. The move reflects struggles throughout the Republican coalition, though for LGBT conservatives it’s been particularly wrenching. Trump’s rhetoric, they say, has been more pro-gay than any presidential nominee in history.

Will be so glad when this person is a distant nightmare. I dream of a huge sigh of relief on 11/9 and of the ability to go into the holiday season even more thankful than I am usually. We really need to reform our elections in major ways; too much time, too much money, no vetting to keep ignorant people who know nothing about our laws, no requirements for basic character, gerrymandering, voter suppression, not enough voting places, systems that can be easily hacked, and so many other ills. We can do better and we must, the health of our republic depends upon it. We need serious journalists who will do the job of investigating, fact checking, and providing unbiased information so that citizens can make up their own minds. We need to make it easier for smart, principles people to run and to have a pipeline of new people ready to run for various offices. A country this large can do better than tired retreads from the same families and sideshow freaks. After we wipe off the muck of this embarrassing election season, we need to find ways to make our electoral process worthy of this nation. Too many people depend upon us, here and abroad, for us to continue this downward spiral in reality tv elections.

    • October 22, 2016 at 7:58 pm

Agree so much with all you’ve said. This: ” tired retreads from the same families and sideshow freaks.” Why I didn’t want any more Bushes or Clintons.
