I was in the market yesterday and saw a National Enquirer magazine talking about how the Obamas are going to get a divorce and showed an angry (forged) picture of Michelle. I had never seen such a thing before. I was so pissed; it was like someone said something about my family. Am I just oblivious or has this crap just started?

After a stupefying and endless campaign season, the end–thank God– is finally in sight. Not only did HRC give a brilliant debate performance last night, knocking the orange one to the ground, but, judging by our county Democratic meeting last night, our local parties are fired up and all ready to deliver the one-two punch in these final days. Thanks to the superb Hillary campaign organizers assigned to our area, every potential Hillary voter will be contacted 7 times between now and November 8 and all of our polling places will be fully staffed–inside and out–on election day. Handouts, candidate signs, and back up help are all in place for the big day. And election protection teams, legal help and everything necessary to fight harassment at the polls is ready to go. I don’t know what is going on on the GOP side, except for putting out signs, but I have never seen a more efficient campaign team in this state. Most gratifying of all is the fact that the horror of Trump has turned the former Bernie diehards into believers and activists. People who said they would never support Hillary are now out hitting the pavement to forestall a Trump presidency. Funny how effective a common enemy is uniting people.

Great to hear the details Jackie. I’m going to phone bank tonight. My friend who hosts the phone bank told me the last couple of days they’ll be having intense phone banking at the head quarters around here (southern Calif.). It sounds like when I campaigned for the President. We would call one state, than all of the sudden they’d pull our lists and have us call another. It was fun and exciting.
“Nasty Women” stand up to bullies, stand against their abusers, work to protect and secure the vulnerable, leave the door of opportunity open for others as they walk through, multi-task and make it look easy, know how to fight without getting dirty, and know their own worth. A “Nasty Woman” belongs in the White House as POTUS and millions of other nasty women will help her to get there.

Thanks, Jackie. As Michelle said, so many of us have swallowed the insults, the hurt, the fear, and taken the abuse and tried to hold our heads above water and go on. For many there has been no place to put all of this and now we are having flashbacks and dealing with PTSD because the craven GOP has allowed this creature to rise. It is somehow right and proper that a woman who has been sorely tried for much of her life is the only one poised to slay the this puffed up fool.

There was a new broadcaster covering Wednesday night’s debate: Donald J. Trump himself.
The Republican national candidate livestreamed his own debate coverage on his Facebook page. Commentary was provided by retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. After the debate, several guests came to discuss Trump’s performance, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Several pro-Trump ads and a clip from Ivanka Trump also ran during the broadcast, according to BuzzFeed.
The event had no official name, but some outlets pointed to a section called “#TrumpTV” on his official Facebook video page. However, #TrumpTV is populated with clips from other existing networks discussing the candidate.
A Trump rep did not respond to a request for comment.

This is the important point. Trump can make an ass of himself, but it won’t matter one bit when it comes to occupying the White House. Once states certify their voting totals, which happens fairly quickly, the results go to the electoral college. It is that gathering and not Donald Trump, that determines the winner, although it’s pretty much pro forma at that point. In reality, once HRC gets her 270 electoral votes on November 8, she is declared the winner in the media and considered as such in public opinion from then on. She will then go about collecting her team and doing the prep work for her time in office. Trump can blubber, whine, stamp his foot and say he was robbed, but it will all be a charade.

In the video compilation that opens the thread, the part to speaks to so much of PBO’s character is when he goes to the aid of the pregnant woman who almost fainted. The fact that he was tuned in to her even though she was behind him, that he went to her aid even though there were others all around her, that he interrupted his work to help her, that he said “I’ve got you” (my heart melts every time), that he did not panic or call undue notice to her that could have caused her embarrassment, that he held her up with confidence and concern, all of this is symbolic of who he is as a man and a leader.

Caller said, “So it’s not just a Trump thing. It’s a Republican thing.” Good point.
