Good Wednesday, Nerdy! Thank you for all the wonderful photos from yesterday’s state visit/dinner.

Good Morning, TOD Family. Pace yourselves with the political news so as to avoid mental burnout. (Okay, I’m telling myself this.)

She has run an amazing campaign – against the nominee, the GOP and the media. She achieved what 15? so called senior republicans could not do.

      • October 19, 2016 at 9:13 am

Exactly…daily proving that she is most qualified to be POTUS/CIC.

Also have to admire that, with all the attacks, she is not pointing fingers at others — trying to make others scapegoats — like her childish, whiny opponent.

WOW! I don’t keep up with polls…they make me nervous, are subject to me having false hope and I don’t want to be disappointed if she doesn’t win AZ….I have more $ than time this election cycle and have been donating $ rather than time that is in such short supply for me…I’m away from the voices and knowledge at the campaign office….I pray this holds and AZ finally turns blue…at least for the Presidential race…the state races, well…we’ll need to work on those:) Thanks, 99ts….hope this holds, or better yet…gets STRONGER!

I’m so starting to believe there is enough sanity in the US to make this election a wipeout df. Perhaps easier when not so close to home. At this stage I’m just hoping she takes the senate races with her. I do think the stubby fingered abuser will depress the republican vote & I’m so hoping this will help dems further down the ballot.

As long as we don’t get complacent as skip voting because it doesn’t matter. We need every single vote in every state to turn back the toxic tide of the GOP.

Good morning TOD! Cannot stop looking at photos of FLOTUS from last night. That dress is nothing short of amazing on her. Talk about saving the best for last:-)

Also impressive was PM Renzi’s toast. In addition to praising Michelle’s speeches, he noted how the Obama presidency was a special time in US history. He refers to him as the “master of renaissance”. It was very touching. I can’t seem to find a clip but will post it when it turns up.

All the stunning images of our FLOTUS and PBO at their last state dinner leads to the hope that they will be happy and fulfilled in their post-presidency life. They’ve done so much for us and have taken so much disrespect, insults, and carping in return from those who were eaten up by jealousy or spite at their leadership and brilliance. Everything we do to get Hillary elected is partly a gift to the Obamas who will know that their hard work will be carried on by her. I hope with all my heart that they will get renewed energy in their years ahead and do even greater things than they could within the confining limits of the White House. In the meantime, let’s do our best do get HRC a Democratic Congress and House so that all the good that the Obamas have planned for this country can come to pass.

I also think the media may boost up The Donald after the debate even if it is just due to his being alive at the end. Then they can talk about the incredible lead Clinton blew at the debate making it a horse race till the end. That is my nightmare scenario. My dream and hope is Clinton clinches it in tonight’s debate and Donald chokes big time.

The Trump campaign is trying to turn this into a Jerry Springer episode. They are parading the Benghazi mother who thinks HRC is a murderer; PBO’s crazy Trump-locing half-brother. And the latest I’ve heard is they’re bringing some guy who says he’s Bill Clinton’s love child. Crazy Bannon says there’s more. This is the most destructive force in electoral politics I have ever seen.

      From the article:
~Far too many state lawmakers have concluded that public scrutiny is the culprit when police use force against civilians. The Senate has scheduled votes on whether to shield the identities of police officers who use force and to preclude the public release of any video or audio captured by police body and dashboard cameras.

Video and audio files are public documents produced by public agencies. They should be treated under the same standards that apply to other public documents, all the more so because police are agents of the state endowed with the authority to use deadly force. Accountability to the public for that level of state power is even more important than for other public agencies.~

As our state legislature has exempted themselves from the sunshine law, I see they have no problem extending the same opaqueness to the PD. This subject came up last night in the 165th CD debate. If it passes, I hope Wolf will veto.

I’m just hoping that DT stays in the 30’s, I’m guessing he’ll get 38%. Anything below 40 will be a YUUUUUGE loss for the GOP. He could go lower if he keeps up with the rigged election crap. In the end, most likely to depress his voters more than the Hillary voters.

“Nor, crucially, are the Trumpniks a majority. Polls give every indication that Hillary Clinton is going to beat Trump, just as she beat Bernie Sanders — who also drew larger rally crowds and more think pieces than she did — in the Democratic primary. Clinton crowds aren’t as big, and her voters aren’t as loud or as interesting to the media. But there sure are a lot of them. And it’s about time we acknowledge them and their emergence as a new silent majority that reelected America’s first black president and is poised to elect its first woman.”

I believe this to be true. When you watch cable they never interview Hillary supporters. They always go find those Trump supporters that will stand by their man no matter what and ignore that Hillary got more votes than anyone in this campaign during the primary and will (hopefully) beat Trump to a pulp this November. That doesn’t fit the medias narrative of the white working class in this country hating their state of affairs (even though our sitting President is very popular) It’s all foolish!

For you foodies who like hot peppers…
    http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/health/ct-ghost-pepper-burns-hole-in-man-s-esophagus-20161019-story.html

When consumed, ghost peppers and other superhots provoke extreme reactions. “Your body thinks it’s going to die,” as Louisiana pepper grower Ronald Primeaux told the AP in October. “You’re not going to die.”

But, demonstrated by a rare though severe incident reported recently in the Journal of Emergency Medicine, superhot peppers can cause bodily harm. A 47-year-old man, unnamed in the case study, attempted a super-spicy feat – eating a hamburger served with a ghost pepper puree – and tore a hole in his esophagus.Ghost peppers were first grown in India, where they are known as bhut jolokia. A seed from the pepper can cause a mouth to smolder for up to a half-hour.
For the 47-year-old man whose esophagus was damaged, though, ingesting the pepper burger was less a bear chase and closer to an attack. As physicians at the University of California at San Francisco reported in the case study, he consumed the burger and attempted to quench the heat in his mouth with six glasses of water. When that failed the man began to vomit, which gave way to abdominal pain. He dialed emergency help.

At the emergency department, he received Maalox and painkillers. After his condition worsened, doctors moved him to the operating room, where they discovered a “2.5-cm tear in the distal esophagus,” about one inch, as the case report authors noted. The force of the vomiting and retching led to a rare diagnosis of Boerhaave’s syndrome; these spontaneous tears in the esophagus can be fatal if they are not diagnosed and treated.

In this case, surgeons were able to repair the man’s throat. “He remained intubated until hospital day 14, began tolerating liquids on hospital day 17,” they wrote, “and was discharged home with a gastric tube in place on hospital day 23.”

    • October 19, 2016 at 2:37 pm

Thanks, Gail. I have been eating hot peppers all my life. I am so bad now that the only ones that my mouth will taste are ghost peppers. So much so, my friend grows them almost exclusively for me in her backyard. If one is not accustomed to eating peppers that hot, I can see how it can be damaging. Habeneros or Sctoch Bonnets are hot too, but they don’t have the punch that I like.

Having said that, I will be very mindful of increasing the hot in my food. One ghost pepper does not do the job for me. I have to cook about two or three to get the taste I want. My son eats hot too, not but nearly as I do.

      Thanks for sharing.
