    I’m posting this, but, I don’t think any of my fellow TODers should be anywhere near Trump – that is unless he’s safely secured in a cage where no physical harm will come to him (accidentally, of course) by one of us. 😀 😀

    We’ll fly you to Vegas for the debate

  4. October 12, 2016 at 4:03 pm

    Behind trump at his rally just now two signs that say ..
    Blacks for trump

    Only in America …

    I wouldn’t be surprised to see anything at these rallies.. He’s turned the whole country into a reality show.

      Every rally has Trump’s “black supporter” sitting behind him. Trump thinks that will bring him in the votes – hahahaha – Hope the guy gets his pay for being there in advance – no way after the event Trump pays anyone

    In today’s paper: The Columbus dispatch, the Cincinnati enquirer, the Dallas morning news, the Arizona republic, the San Francisco union-tribune, the Atlantic, the USA Today have all endorsed Hillary. First time in centuries…

    In case you needed your faith in mal/white male/NFL white male/humanity restored, read this AWESOME take down of DT by Chris Kluwe:

    Here’s his bio for the article 😹😹😂
    “Chris Kluwe played eight years in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, is the author of the book Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies and co-author of the sci-fi book Prime: A Genesis Series Event, and can be found on twitter @ChrisWarcraft, where he’s usually causing some sort of ruckus. He endorses Hillary Clinton for this year’s presidential race, because, despite her faults, she at least can be trusted not to fire off nukes at 3 am when a Twitter egg insults her.”

    Belated hellos, congrats, happy birthdays, and more as I slowly work my way thru a huge backlog of threads here at TOD. I am finally up through the 2nd debate. You all rock with your collections of tweets, comments, articles and videos. Thank you dear Chips for creating this wonderful place, and Nerdy Wonka for keeping it going these past few months.

    Are any TOD’ers in the SF Bay Area planning on attending Hillary Clinton’s speech in SF tomorrow? If so, I would love to meet up with you after the event. But then I realize I don’t know how to get in touch with you. I hope one of you can let me know. I don’t tweet or facebook, so I guess it would have to be messaging or email. Help!

      When they go low ….

      Michelle Obama is a treasure, not to be found again – and even moreso for that delightful comment that will live forever. It will be on the frontispiece of her first book – and every book written about her time in the White House

    Scusami, TODers, for this Italian-themed comment on the Hispanic Heritage month post, but I couldn’t resist sharing this from Vox:

    WikiLeaks reveals John Podesta’s secret for making creamy risotto

    “As Vox’s Andrew Prokop writes, there seems to be nothing “outright scandalous” in the emails. Most of the communication covers “a litany of policy and strategy discussions between Clinton staffers on how to handle issues of the day and the press.” The biggest revelations so far have been her praise of open borders and single-payer health care.

    But buried deep in the email trove is another critically valuable nugget of information: John Podesta’s secret to making superb risotto.”

    FWIW, I agree with Podesta’s risotto-making advice! No matter what kind of pan I use, adding the water in small amounts, over a longer period of time, makes for a creamier risotto (but, like pasta, you still want it al dente, never mushy!)

    One of the things I learned about my boss during the first week of the administration was to not wander too far away. We had gone up to the U.S. Capitol a week after the inauguration to meet with the House and Senate Republican caucuses. I had already started running up the stairs ahead of him before I realized he had taken a slight detour to greet the kitchen staff. Pete Souza

      Have to wrap up our phone bank in plenty of time to watch this! Good story from just now: stopped at my favorite neighborhood Mexican Restaurant to pick up some guacamole and fresh tortillas for the phone bank. The guy says, “we don’t do takeout during Happy Hour.” With my sad face, I said I was on my way to phone bank for Hillary, so he whispered he would make an exception because we have to beat Trump. He packed it up for me and gave me a high five. Si Se Puede!

    Comment on BJ – GOP seems to have a GOTV problem

    Just got back from early voting. Very brisk at the BOE. Nothing except Hillary people working outside the polls. No Trump people, not even the little old ladies who the Republican Part sends out to hand out voter guides. Which is unusual to say the least. Back in 2004, when I worked with local democrats to hand out voter guides, both parties had people out handing out voter guides all day for both primaries and the general. But this time, just Democrats.

      Totally consistent with not wanting ANYONE to vote that will vote against them…ie, POC ….young people in college…the list goes on. We need to send such a resounding message this November that this will not be tolerated, that we just CRUSH this party into the dust and take control of the Executive and Legislative branches….and so, the Judicial Branch….We fought so hard to be here…no going back now. Forward Together. Stronger Together.

    with the start of early voting in my state, I feel a great sense of relief about this election;

    the push to get voters registered before yesterday’s deadline was really intense but I think our state hit its goal … not to jinx it but the Team Clinton/Kaine regional organizers are smiling;

    everyday a number of determined new faces are joining the organization & the GOTV is already in process;

    the weather is still nice for the door knocking;

    I prefer the street action & do minimum phone banking because many people who claim not to understand what you are saying on the phone are more receptive face to face … except the one gentleman who told me he has so many guns in his house … oh and the family that sent out its dogs accompanied by a number of curse words;

    i will be casting my vote in the next few days so that it is banked for SoS HRC … not taking any chances in this house-to-house competition;

    I’ve missed a lot (that dratted working), though I did see and read Meta’s sharing of the article re PBO’s interview with WIred and thoroughly enjoyed it.. In this post by Smartypants there’s a neat video clip from the interview; go check it out, you’ll like it.

    Today, the latest edition of WIRED was published with President Obama as the editor. Even for us non-geeks, this part of his conversation with the staff at that publication is interesting.

    For those of you who are actual geeks, you might want to check out the rest of President Obama’s conversation with MIT’s Joi Ito and WIRED’s Scott Dadich titled, “Barack Obama, Neural Nets, Self-Driving Cars, and the Future of the World.” Suffice it to say that, if you’re feeling bogged down by the constant flow of Trumpian nonsense we’re being exposed to lately, watching our President let his geek flag fly is a great antidote.

    The difference is, Trump (or Trump supporters) will probably be paying women to come out (as was admittedly done with the ones before the debate). The Trump accusers are voluntarily coming forward … at least as far as I know.

        I am a spelling police person too, DF. I used to give my fifth grade students extra spelling credit for finding and reporting mistakes on signs in public places. Boy, did my students love that. I hate how auto correct changes words incorrectly.
