Great interview. Trump tried to shame/humiliate/intimidate his rival…a woman. The story post the second debate should of been this. AND how despite all that (and the Trump presser just before the debate) Clinton stood tall and in control. A lesser woman or man could not of done this.

Good Morning TOD family. My hubby and I just got back from our son’s wedding in McClellanville, SC where Hurricane Matthew showed up on what would have been his wedding day. We had to move it up to Thursday and then everyone evacuated Friday before Matthew made landfall just southeast of MCVL. Half the guests couldn’t come/canceled but those that were there were a strong and mighty force and they are now on their way to their honeymoon in Morocco and Paris. They even made the NY Times.
I am tired but watched the debate Sunday night. OMG.
Betsy, Glad that everyone is safe. Just think, the wedding saga will be retold at family gatherings for generations to come! BTW, WHERE is link to NYT article… 😉

ICYMI, I deactivated my facebook last night. Frankly, the political posts were getting to me. Or at least that’s what I told myself it was. But then I took a moment to collect myself, and I realized it wasn’t the politics that was getting to me. It was the fact that men (and even some women) whom I generally respect(ed) were advocating for sexual assault like it was no. big. deal. So allow me to take a moment, now, and tell you my story:
When I was 24, I was on an exercise in Yuma, AZ. I went out drinking with a couple of guys from my shop. I went back to my barracks, and a SSgt I had known for over 5 years at that point — someone I considered a trusted friend — walked me back, to make sure I was safe. I was ALSO friends with his roommate, so I didn’t think twice when he asked me to come in to say hi. I came in, said hi to the roommate, had a beer, and then said goodnight. I was going to walk back to my own room, all of 1 floor up and 3 ladderwells over. My SSgt offered to walk me out. When we got into the common area — a living-room-type of area right outside their sleeping quarters, but not a public area by any means — he slammed me against the wall by my shoulder, and forced his hand down my pants. He, to use Mr. Trump’s eloquent verbiage, “grabbed me by the pussy.” He forced his tongue down my throat, his fingers into me, and his other hand up my shirt. I can’t tell you how long this went on. Probably 1-2 minutes? Then I pushed him off and ran out. I heard him laugh as I ran. I don’t remember much else. The next day at work, he acted like nothing happened, but he also barely spoke to me. Shortly thereafter, the exercise was over. A few weeks after we got back to California, that same SSgt was on duty. He came into my room to “inspect it,” and tried to pin me up against a wall. Luckily, I was on guard enough to duck and go outside. I didn’t make a fuss, because I didn’t want to be “that girl.” Besides, WHO WOULD LISTEN? Hell, I have a LOT of friends on my facebook NOW who were in my unit at that time. Who knew me, AND him. And who are currently posting that Trump saying “grab her by the pussy” is nothing but “guy talk.” So clearly, you think this is OK. CLEARLY, you think nothing of it. And you know what?? I AM WELL AWARE YOU THINK THIS IS NO BIG DEAL. EVERY WOMAN YOU KNOW IS AWARE OF THIS. THIS is why I never reported it. Because I have heard you laugh at rape jokes, I have heard you deride a girl who claimed sexual assault as a slut, I have seen you treat women as “less than.” I have seen it, I have heard it, I REMEMBER IT ALL. And you know what? I am TIRED.
I am TIRED of defending my worth as a human being. I am tired of defending the FACT that I was victimized by a man I trusted. A man that I am still afraid to name publicly because I will be ostracized. I am TIRED of the fact that I am still ashamed. And I am MOST OF ALL tired of seeing people defend a man you would choose to be the leader of the free world, the representative of how our nation treats women, as “just a guy,” exhibiting “guy behavior.” I am tired of it because it just. feels. so. NORMAL. It is NORMAL to me that men are ok with sexual assault. It is NORMAL to me because those of you defending him have TAUGHT me that it is normal. And because you feel no remorse and NO regret and no issue with teaching me that. With teaching your daughters, sisters, mothers, and friends that. That some of you WOMEN have been taught that for so long, that YOU defend it also. So to all of you, I say:
YOU ARE THE VERY REASON THAT RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ARE STILL VERY MUCH NORMAL. Yes. Yes YOU. AND YOU ALSO. Because you DISMISS victims, because you DEFEND offenders. Because you NORMALIZE talk of sexual assault, and when something comes to light (Trump’s rape of his ex wife, Trump’s rape of a 13 y/o girl, Trump’s sex-trafficking), you claim it’s all just lies. So why would any of us come forward? How can I trust YOU?? The simple answer? I can’t.
I trust those that have SHOWN me that they will not tolerate other men normalizing this kind of behavior. They will not accept advocacy of rape and sexual assault as “locker room talk.” They will stand with me, and with other decent humans, and have the integrity to act the same way behind closed doors as they do in public. As for the rest of you? I don’t have anything left to say.
EDITED TO ADD: Please feel free to share this post in its entirety. I made it public, and I have no qualms about anything I said. Further, I related the story of my assault and experiences as an example of the culture that dismisses/defends comments such as Trump’s as “locker room talk” has created. The man who assaulted me knows what he did. I cannot change what has already happened. What I aim to do with sharing my story is to address the CULTURE. The absolute rape culture pervasive in our society. And I hope that more men will speak up and decry this behavior as abhorrent — and not “just guy talk.”
*EDIT TWO* For those making this about the candidate(s), you’ve missed the point.
I have heard this a lot about women in the military. How they are miss treated, raped, sexually assaulted and they have no one to protect them. I am hoping that as more women are part of our government that these so-called men are drummed out of the service. If they can not respect a fellow soldier then they do not belong in our military.

Alycee, one of our best local organizers was in the Marines and told us that the sexual harassment was relentless. She left because it became unbearable and still bears the emotional scars.
Wow – hope you or your friend shares this with the Clinton campaign. No excuses – this is why we have a rape culture. It’s on us, all of us, to support women like your friend and speak out against such male entitlement.

You’ve gotta love this.
I have to confess that now that my husband is home in the mornings he has had that show on in background while I get ready for work each day. A couple of months ago Mika was screaming at Republicans to un-endorse Trump and Joe was all but calling his campaign a joke. Then Trump threatened to out them as a couple in one of his tweets late this summer and so last month they “secretly” met Donald at Trump tower and from that point on their tone toward Trump changed completely. Their show returned to being a Trump apologist show every since.
He swears that Trump had a masterful debate on Sunday that changed the course of the campaign although not a single poll that has come out of that debate shows that Trump won. It’s actually comical to watch him meltdown everyday. Trump must have offered to keep their little tryst a secret if they stop talking negatively about him. It’s actually quite pathetic.
