Did Trump think that issuing an “apology” was going to stop the 24/7 loop about that audio? It’s been running constantly since it came out — even usurping Hurricane Matthew.

I note that in his so-called “apology” he did the childish, “He did it too!!!” I think about how often PBO and HRC could have pointed fingers and didn’t.

We don’t need children in position of POTUS/CIC..

As Hillary Clinton enters the arena with the beast on Sunday night, remember this. On October 11–the day after the debate–the Clintons will celebrate their 41 wedding anniversary. This is a woman and a marriage that perseveres through good times and bad. I hope she mentions this on Sunday night and shoves it in the face of Evangelicals.

My neighborhood came through the storm with minimal damage (part of my fence is toast, but I know a “guy” and have already put in a call) and we lost power for only 10 minutes; other areas did not fare as well The beaches are pretty much as expected: much beach erosion, that is especially difficult because so much money had been spent re-nourishing the shore and flooding; trees downed in many areas and some roads blocked because of it, no one allowed on to return yet until damage is assessed to the bridges, etc. no deaths as far as I know in my county, but I last heard that there were 3 in others. My mother lot power early yesterday because she lives in an area that is prone to this partly because the utility lines are not underground (I have a brother who lives with her and a sister who lives close by who can see to her if there is a problem). The smartphone that I reluctantly purchased two weeks ago came in handy to be able to text relatives and friends who live around the state to check on their well-being.
All of the stations have and are still carrying storm coverage only so we missed the latest regarding the pervert who wishes to be king president that I saw when I logged on this morning. This too will past for him and the truly deplorable and hypocritical will still vote for him in the millions. We all know that Democrats of all stripes and colors, women, and all POC are held to a standard that Republicans are never held to: It is all about power and being in control to do their corporate masters’ biding and to scrap for as much money and personal influence that they can get for however long their overlords will allow them to keep it. In the next debate (if the coward shows up), he and the moderator will do the tired game of deflection and innuendo, people will argue about who the winner is and it will not matter. There are no undecided in this election. The only thing left to do is to get the idiots who may have decided to sit the whole thing out as a stupid protest, to do their part to help save our republic by voting for Hillary.

Interesting how 32 and 33 year old white men are just “kids.” Really, Billy Bush? Al Roker called it. I remember years ago that Papa Bush referred to Billy as a “twit” at some family gathering.

So pleased the storm did little damage for you CEB – the power loss for only 10 minutes is wonderful – sometimes the worst part of weather events is the long days (& nights) without power. It seems by not getting to land before it weakened, damage was less than expected which is always good to hear.

Watching MSNBC they have only covered 2 issues in the past 24 hours – the storm & Trump’s video. And you are right about the “kids”. Bobby Bush apparently had 3 children at the time of the video and Trump was 58 years old & just into his 3rd marriage. Definitely NOT “boys” by any stretch.

I believe Sam Wang is correct.

    http://election.princeton.edu/2016/10/08/what-color-is-the-swan/

Today’s estimated Clinton win probability is 93%. The Meta-Margin is Clinton +3.3% and the red one-sigma band, indicating the likely range of electoral outcomes, is 290-348 EV. Betting markets are catching up, especially after yesterday’s newest wave of Trump stories, especially the groping story.

The insta-consensus among commentators is that somehow this event is a cause of Trump’s electoral doom. I think the logic is backwards – to me, the growing obviousness of his doom created an environment for this story to blow up. The genuinely new development is the impact for downticket – in both the Senate and the House.

In one common sentiment, catching Trump on tape bragging about groping women without consent is somehow a “last straw” that has caused supporters to desert him, starting off with GOP Reps. Jason Chaffetz and Barbara Comstock, and Utah governors Gary Herbert (current) and Jon Huntsman (former). Some PEC readers think this is a “black swan” – an unexpected anomaly that moves everything.

However, the idea that the recording comes as a surprise does not make sense. Trump’s record of misogynistic comments is abundant, and his unfiltered comments are part of his core appeal. As a reality television star with thousands of hours of candid footage, it was inevitable that such comments would come to light…though it’s taken a while.

My thought: There’s more where this came from.

He’s got more to say on this subject at the link…..which I also agree with:)
People gonna be jumping off that sinking orange barge in droves….don’t want the stink to get on them….after that, just kick it to the curb. Hope his brand is toxic going forward and he spends his remaining days in an orange jumpsuit somewhere for fraud and tax evasion….the fact that he’d be in jail with a bunch of men that will grope him, because they can, is karma kicked up. Yes, I mean it.

That said, do not back off our own need to vote and get others to vote. These cretins need to be in the dustbin of history forever.

        October 8, 2016 at 9:36 am

        Two possibles – hopefully probable

        1. Some GOPers will not vote – this will impact the lower down races
        2. Many GOP wives will vote for Hillary (regardless as to what they say) – this will impact the margin by which she wins. Exit polls could be interesting if some white women lie as to how they voted.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/nation-now/2016/10/08/trump-wives-no-win-children-abortion-rekha-basu/91732698/

None of those things paints as perplexing a picture of Trump’s character, however, as his divorce from his first wife, Ivana. He left his 12-year marriage to her, she told a newspaper columnist who is interviewed in the PBS Frontline documentary, The Choice 2016, saying he couldn’t be attracted to a woman who has had children. Former New York Post columnist Liz Smith said Ivana had already tried to please her husband by getting different kinds of cosmetic surgery, but sobbingly told her that Trump didn’t want her anymore because of the three childbirths. (Trump had Ivana sign an agreement not to publish anything or give any interviews about their marriage).

Think about that. By having her husband’s children — the ones he now relies on as advisers and spokespeople and props for his presidential campaign — Ivana Trump doomed her marriage. She couldn’t be both his wife and the biological mother of his children to his satisfaction because she couldn’t physically return her body to its pre-childbirth state.

      http://www.alternet.org/sex-amp-relationships/unveiling-madonna-whore-complex

Where such men love they have no desire, and where they desire they cannot love,” Sigmund Freud wrote back in 1925. The founding father of psychoanalysis coined the Madonna-whore complex – a condition whereby men view women as either saintly, virgin Madonna’s or sexual “whores”.

In essence, the effect of Madonna-whore on a relationship is an inability of the man to maintain sexual arousal within a committed, loving partnership. In his psyche he categorizes women into two groups: women he can admire and women he finds sexually attractive; the former he loves, the latter he devalues

In the end I guess we must ask ourselves as a nation what do we want in a leader. To be honest with you I’m not at all shocked by what Trump has said. Usually someone that speaks like this doesn’t really get the time of day from the general public, someone that speaks like this is often labeled a joke. Our values and morals have shifted to such an extent that someone like Trump is now afforded the opportunity to lead our nation. The problem goes deeper than Trump, enough people have to say enough is enough.

An “un-endorsement” does not mean anything. The fact that he was endorsed in the first place tells me everything I need to know about the endorser. Trump was not “unendorsed” after he called Mexicans rapist, he wasn’t “un-endorsed” after he call African Americans lazy, and he wasn’t “un-endorsed” after he spent years degrading women. So its a tad to late to want to “un-endorse” Trump now.

Saturday greetings, folks! Hope all of you in Matthew’s path weathered the storm safely and have heard from your relatives who were involved.

    ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Last night when I left the village I was a little bit upset and, being me, spent the night wondering and pondering and feeling uneasy about the month of campaigning we have left, and how it could impact our village. Here’s my resulting rant, which I hope will clear (DT’s foul air from) our air, at least a bit.

    RANT ↓ ↓

1st > This is not directed at anyone in particular (if anything, it’s directed at *all of us* here).

    2nd > FULL DISCLOSURE = I am *weird*…….

But I’m also a legitimate member of this TOD family, so after a night’s reflection I’m going to say how I feel.

/deep breath/ I find it disturbing these days that we are so often sharing, or using, crude language here in the village. Sure, Donald is crude personified and, yes, we are all adults, but IMO it’s for that very reason I believe we can/should control, or temper, the tone of *our* virtual home. We would not dream of bringing everything gross we see outside into our own homes. Many (likely all) of us here would love to see The Obama Diary as the real and comprehensive blog archives of the Obama presidency. After all, we have been the blog that has most faithfully and truly recorded Obama events over all PBO’s years in office – in and out of the country! / 🙂 🙂 smiling proudly / ^5 to all of you, and mountains of thanks to our blog leaders!!!!!

At this point I ask us to consider: Do we want to have our 2016 election era posts diverge into a Trumpian tone by constantly and *repeatedly* sharing his vulgarities and using and reusing his sexist language? I don’t. Honestly, I find myself cringing in the village more and more often, biting my tongue or leaving silently, and I find that sad. This *is* my (our) home! There are lots of other ‘adult’ blog sites where swearing &/ crude language (not to mention tweets that shock) is the norm and I avoid them. I’d hate for our precious and much needed blog to lose our ‘only adult in the room’ status. I’d wager there’s little else that’s truly shocking that can be revealed about the Republican candidate. Let’s not be manipulated by DT’s scuzzy behaviour into joining him in the muck of his world, by giving his sexual depravity excessive repeated coverage. [Maybe we could simply point out the link to his slime, and let those who so choose go check out the details.] I love our home and don’t want to be reluctant to sit in a quiet corner anytime for fear of being choked by more and more of DT’s evil and creepy persona as it’s released into our TOD walls.

**Please**, oh please, let’s stay ‘high’ while others go low.

    ↑↑ End of RANT

    • 83 nospin
      October 9, 2016 at 12:30 pm

With 30 days away from the election, I think everything is relevant. TOD has a far reach and could impact a wider audience who do not post at all to this site. I get that some of the Trump news is crude..but the man himself is vulgar and the things shared are from the Republican nominee himself. That is the difference.

Should there be a balance of information? Yes . Should we be positive? Yes, but is also important that we make sure folks understand why this election is important and why Trump is not an option.

My 2 cents for what it is worth.

It’s worth whatever you think it’s worth. 😀

Hi, NoSpin, the ‘devil made me say that’. Seriously, I hear your point. I’m all for balance and for making sure folks understand that this election is vastly important. OTH, I am not all for wallowing in the gutter with DT, and while info about him ought to be disseminated as far as possible, I don’t believe the best way to do that is to spread his vulgarity broadly in *our* forum. DT brings with him an aura that, IMO, sits ill in this space that Pres Obama and his family have graced with class and dignity.
