    Good evening, all! Praying for the folks in Florida, as they prepare for Hurricane Matthew (including most of my grandkids, my two great grandkids, and close friends!). Also praying for the folks who already have been affected (and perhaps more to come). My biggest hope is that the whirlwind goes out to sea!

      Thanks. I live in NE Florida where coastal flooding and surge is expected, however, I live far inland. We are battening down the hatches and expecting high winds and power outages.

    Maybe someone can help me out here. Just a few moments ago and a couple of days ago I received notice that twitter had locked my acct. saying had violated the rules. They didn’t tell me what rules. I was given the option of receiving a code to re-open my acct. and read the rules. But I can’t tell which, if any, rules I violated. Anybody know what’s going on with this?

      @Kat4Obama had the same issue recently (can’t remember which day 😦 ).

      She’s tweeting now, so she got the issue resolved (she mentioned here that Twitter’s preferred way to reinstate is to send a text message, but her phone number is not on file with them [true for me too, rarely enter my telephone number for online access]).

      Don’t know how long it took for her reinstatement, but it took at least 4 hours.

    anyone else remember when early in his presidency, PBO told the media types that Fox was not a news organization?

    I remember how, in response to PBO and his team ignoring fox, the majority of media openly declared that they would turn on the White House and not report on anything they were doing;

    as it turns out, the media is now coming late to the realization that PBO was right about worse fox.

    of course none of us knew that on top of being a hate-generating outlet, it was also led by a pervert who participated in and permitted sexual abuse of many employees;

    now we are at point where different fox personalities are openly fighting each other …… they follow the pattern of self-destruction that has accompanied most of those who were vindictive of PBO;

    I will be lying if I said I was not happy with glee at the turn of events at fox and with all the gop;

    “And Clinton campaign officials credit them with having a huge hand in shaping the narrative of the race. “Most of it is organic, these guys are guerrilla,” said Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri. “I watch for what they’re saying to see where a story line will be going. It’s reassuring to me, because they are no bedwetters, and the rare times they say, ‘I’m not so sure,’ I take notice of that more so than from anyone else.”

      I really revere the honesty of these guys. I can fully relate to their strong hesitance to jump on board HRC’s candidacy and then also to their whole-hearted drive to join in to preserve no only President Obama’s legacy but our democracy as we’ve come to love and respect it. They’re smart, brutally honest and very funny. I think Dan Pfeiffer is my favorite.

      The expressions on their faces (and I love that PBO is so much taller) tell you everything that you need to know about them as leaders and as men. I almost get sick when I remember how Dubya was shining and grinning and getting played by Putin as they rode around his pretend ranch. PBO knows Putin for the double-dealing KGB snake that he is and deals with him accordingly.

    The Atlantic editors have a few words about Donald while endorsing Sec Clinton –

    “Donald Trump, on the other hand, has no record of public service and no qualifications for public office. His affect is that of an infomercial huckster; he traffics in conspiracy theories and racist invective; he is appallingly sexist; he is erratic, secretive, and xenophobic; he expresses admiration for authoritarian rulers, and evinces authoritarian tendencies himself. He is easily goaded, a poor quality for someone seeking control of America’s nuclear arsenal. He is an enemy of fact-based discourse; he is ignorant of, and indifferent to, the Constitution; he appears not to read.’

        Many are saying that these endorsements make little if any difference to the final result – but I would think that Donnie of the little hands will be getting quite upset that none of the endorsements are for him. His reaction to being so treated by the media should be worth a couple of points.

        • 88 amk for obama
          October 6, 2016 at 8:49 am

          The point of endorsements is to make the point of the press being responsible to the voters. If the voters are still numbbutz, it’s their problem.

          • 89 99ts
            October 6, 2016 at 8:54 am

            Given the current state of the US political media & their treatment of Hillary Clinton, when they turn around and endorse her (usually with some negative comments), it is difficult for anyone to think of them as being responsible.

              October 6, 2016 at 8:57 am

              I would say most of the print media has been responsible, except nyt with their stupid emails obsession. Even they redeemed themselves with the tax cheat scoop. It’s the cable and teevee noise that is drowning out the good messaging.

        I know little about them either NCLB – apparently they rarely endorse (like to be a politically independent so they say). I was impressed by the language used to describe Trump as he should always be described.

        Prior endorsements were two

        Abraham Lincoln (1860) and Lyndon Johnson (1964). Described in the article. Rachel did a section on this last night.

      And the one who is the polar opposite of this, our dear PBO, has gone largely unappreciated and out-right reviled by the various media. They had a big hand in growing the abomination of DT that got him to his current position. Our entire democracy is at sake in this election. They built this and the rest of us are in a stressful fight to tear it down.

      • 94 99ts
        October 6, 2016 at 9:08 am

        Couldn’t agree more CEB – every part of the media contributed to help Donald become the GOP nominee. Now they start to realise what they have done – I guess it’s better late than never.

        I have no doubt that 2 years down the track they will be singing the praises of PBO – no idea why they couldn’t support him from day 1 – as he well deserved.

          He is a Black man who is not, nor has ever been who and what they imagined and even hoped he would be to support them in their racists views. Full stop. Racists have to hold on to their views because if they give them up they will have to acknowledge the horrible, savage and true history of this country and how they have benefited from the determined debasement and inhumane treatment of a people who have never harmed them.

      SW, I’m waiting for the day when for once–just once–in his life DT has to pay for breaking the law. Ninety-nine percent of Americans would have been nailed and jailed for what he’s been doing in his countless scams and tax evasions, but only he gets no punishment. That has to stop.

        I hear a kid went to jail over a .65 container of milk…. this man needs to be locked up and have the key thrown away!

      • October 6, 2016 at 9:53 am

        As am I, JackieG. People are jailed/fined for a lot less. Part of my disgust is that others *are* getting nailed and jailed. He has been able to get immunity by throwing others under the bus. I am hoping the one good that will come out of this nightmare of an election season is that Trump will finally have to pay for his numerous crimes.

    • October 6, 2016 at 10:25 am

      Call me cynical but I think that in states where the attorney general is a republican there won’t be any action before the election… After the election though is another story. Republicans will be very eager to destroy Trump’s reputation once and for all, so he disappears from the tv and republicans can distance themselves from the man who made their party more toxic than ever.

      • October 6, 2016 at 11:28 am

        I don’t doubt that there will be no action taken until after the election. But there are some Republicans who will NEVER be able to separate themselves from Trump (or at least they shouldn’t be able to). Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell are prime examples. Ted Cruz will be remembered as well.

        As for the party, even with their post-election efforts to destroy Trump, it will take a long time for them to recover. The destruction started long before. Whenever Republicans tried to obstruct President Obama – especially when he reached out and tried to compromise with them with *their* own ideas and proposals — they were slowly dismantling their own platform. Donald Trump finished the job for them, leaving them in such shambles, I doubt they’ll be able to come back together as a single party.

        It’ll be interesting to see when the blame game starts in earnest.

    The spectre of Katrina looms large over official Florida’s response to Matthew. Rick Scott (Golem) and my mayor are belligerent in some of their responses to reporters’ questions. They have added to the mandatory/ordered evacuations of possible storm surge areas of NE Fla. and seem to think that merely saying so make this an easy thing for people to do emotionally, economically and logistically. Hotels/motels in most areas are full, not everyone has friends or family inland who can and will take them, and some have few financial resources. Another thing that they fail to consider is how often the alarm warnings have been screamed and nothing came of it, so many people may believe that this is similar. We have not had a hurricane in my areas since Hurricane Dora arrived in 1964 when I was a little girl, so there are millions who have only experienced over preparation for hyped up storms that missed us. The political leaders have taken the wrong tone to address real concern and even skepticism.
