That’s not the question that should be asked, the question that should be asked is why those that live paycheck to paycheck consistently support and vote for people that don’t give two fucks about them?

Don..my husband tells me that same thing. Trump will be gone soon, but the millions that support him will still be around after the election. How do we address them as a nation? How does the Republican party address them? What type of autopsy will they do this election? Will the Republican party split?

I do not think DT will be gone once he loses. He is a sore loser and if it is not close he will manufacture something that the election was stolen. He will sue because that’s his middle name. My hope is he will loose so much money and his brand will be destroyed financially. The lunatics will be around for awhile unfortunately until they realize they have been duped just like they were duped by $P.

    Taxes are Good

“Oliver Wendell Holmes once said: ‘I like to pay taxes. With them I buy civilization.'”

Most conservative criticisms about the ill-effects of taxes are exaggerated or untrue. Taxes are in fact good – they are dues we pay to enjoy the numerous vital benefits that government provides for our society.

Thank you, HRC, for going there. The fact that undocumented immigrants have contributed vast sums to our treasury has always been true but never gained any traction against the demonization from the right. Maybe people will finally learn the truth.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been accused by ex-contestants and staff on reality show The Apprentice of sexism, according to an Associated Press investigation.

More than 20 people interviewed described Mr Trump’s behaviour toward women as crass and inappropriate.

Another crew member said that Mr Trump often asked male contestants to rate the attractiveness of their female counterparts. The source described a day where cast and crew were all gathered to decide who to blame for a task.

In the middle of the discussion, Mr Trump allegedly stopped, pointed to a woman and said he would have sex with her.

“Everyone [was] trying to make him stop talking, and the woman [was] shrinking in her seat,” the source said.

Women in Poland have gone on strike in protest against proposals for a total ban on abortions.

They marched through the streets wearing black as a sign of mourning for their reproductive rights.

Women who oppose the ban are staying away from work and school and refusing to do domestic chores, in a protest inspired by a women’s strike in Iceland in 1975.

Anti-abortion protests are being held around the country too.

Tell your “friends” that Trump reveals taxes for loans and lawsuits, but not to run for POTUS.

Remind them that he has revealed ZERO about his business dealings, that have far-reaching national security implications.

Not that you’ll get through to them, but you’re a fighter, Sue.

Morning. Though my memories go back to (gulp) the Truman administration, the first presidential election I remember was the one between Adlai Stevenson and Dwight Eisenhower. Since then there have been unpleasant campaigns and repellent characters who ran for president–George Wallace, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan–but there was never a time when I was as ashamed of the American people as I am now. I see the Trump signs proliferating in my county and I feel despair for the moral integrity of those who believe that the corrupt, bigoted con man with the orange hair is qualified to be president and worthy of their support. These “neighbors” are embracing bigotry in all its form–racism, misogyny, homophobia and religious prejudice against Muslims and I’m sickened by it. I talk to Democrats who are depressed and sometimes paralyzed with fear that the fascists elements will win and American democracy as we know it will end in 2017. If Hillary wins and we lose the Senate, we will have more years of obstruction and legislative paralysis and the American people will do nothing about it in 2018. I look at our children and granddaughter and wonder what nightmares lie in their future. Everything will depend on the good outnumbering the bad on November 8 in a great existential battle for our common soul. We need not only to work, but to pray that the light will overcome the darkness.

Jackie, I understand your despair. But remember this. THIS is the country that elected Barack Hussein Obama TWICE by a popular vote majority. I simply do not believe that this same country will actually put the orange buffoon in the Oval Office. Like you, I am ashamed and embarrassed. More than anything, it has made me realize just how decrepit our educational system has become and must be a focus for the coming generation.

For me personally, the saddest thing is that I just want this election to be over. I hate what DT is doing to our country. It is a stark contrast from the hope I felt in the last two elections.

A funny note from deep red TX. Yesterday, I saw my first Johnson/Weld yard sign in a house that always has signs for deep red Rs in every election. I suspect that there will be more Rs that vote for that ticket than Ds in the end.

      Five weeks to go.

Good morning, Jackie. As usual you summed up the current situation very well; co-signing on your commentary. One way that helps me to hold it together is the knowledge that with all of this ugliness frothing about those Americans who thought the country was way past the “Mad Men” way of life have had the blinders forcibly removed. Those who have been willfully ignorant, satisfied that they did not have the problems of “those people,” have seen that we really are all in the same boat that will sink to the depths if we allow this man and his creatures who represent all that is dark, ugly, regressive, and sick in our society to win.

Now, since you have a twitter account, if you want to volunteer to have people send you their email address via DM, then we can collect them this way. Or we can recruit Alycee to volunteer 🙂

I don’t know if Donna is available, I haven’t seen a response from her.

I think we also need to decide on the date. Choices can be: Last weekend in July, Second and/or third weekend in August, 2017.

Trump Doesn’t Propose Closing the Loopholes He Exploited
It’s a major flaw in his ‘only someone who games the system can fix it’ argument.
    by Steven Waldman
    October 2, 2016

Donald Trump often says that because he’s gamed the system he knows how to fix it. We make fun of that argument but it’s actually a pretty good line. If you want to shore up the security problems in your computer system, you might well hire a former hacker.

There’s one small problem: Trump never actually says how he would deploy this insider knowledge to fix the problems.

Let’s start with taxes. Trump’s response to the New York Times revelations that he may not have paid taxes for 18 years was to tweet:

I know our complex tax laws better than anyone who has ever run for president and am the only one who can fix them. #failing@nytimes

    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 2, 2016

Chris Chritie agreed: “What it shows is what an absolute mess the federal tax code is and that’s why Donald Trump is the best person to fix it.”

But taxes are one area where Trump has actually put out a detailed plan. Get this: He does not touch the carried losses provision that allowed him to use massive business losses to eliminate his personal tax liability. According to the Times piece, Trump took advantage of a part of the code that allows investment losses to wipe out personal tax liabilities, not just for that year but for future years.

Hillary Clinton’s plan would appear to eliminate the practice, indirectly, by establishing a larger minimum tax on people with substantial income (a.k.a. the Buffett Rule).

      October 3, 2016 at 1:56 pm

Why would anyone fix something that has been a boon to them and their supporters. Plus the GOP would never allow Trump to close these loopholes because they are greedy SOB’s…they want tax cuts & loopholes combined to continue to PAY NOTHING while us working stiffs and folks on SS pay all the taxes.

i think that folks do not understand how DEEP the belief system of racism is….how Trumpism taps into the racist psyche of America….how Trumpism has made it OK and gives legitimacy to be a racist ….blk folks get this…not sure if most white folks do…
that is why you have white folks contemplating voting for a 3rd party candidate….we already know about Bernie Sanders is tone death in that article posted yesterday in the New Yorker…you still have him taking shots at the President and Hillary….

      Racism trumps Every thing…
not sure if Any revelations can detract from this key fact…..

so our job it to register new voters to the Obama Coalition and to bring them to the polls…there is not greater duty at this time…because it is NOT enough to just elect Hillary…We Must Take Back The Senate….We Must decrease the about of GOP headed state legislatures….

      this is our MISSION….

This is what white arrogance and wanton provocation looks like.

Nine Australian tourists have been arrested after stripping to their underwear during Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix.

The men, who were sporting underpants bearing the Malaysian flag, are being investigated for “intentional insult” and a possible breach of the peace.

Photographs of the men parading the country’s national colours were widely shared on social media.

The incident has been criticised in the majority Muslim country.

One could appreciate Michael Reagan’s comments, but they do not negate the actions that Ronald Reagan took when he was in office. I just don’t understand why statements like this weren’t made in 2008. I’m trying my best to let shit go when it came to the hell that President Obama faced for eight years, but I just wish Reagan and many other supposedly sane Republicans would have had these come to Jesus moments in 2008.
