Good afternoon. Nice to be back. I had the good fortune to take a tour to Maine, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward island for 11 days, returning this past Thursday. We traveled 2100 miles, a lot of hours in the bus, but saw outstanding scenery, ate loads of wonderful seafood, and experienced some truly neat things…..visited a fisheries museum, charming villages along the Nova Scotia coast, visited the Titanic victims’ cemetery, Anne of Green Gables house, and more a delightful time.

Did not watch television for the entire time! Several Canadians asked if we had watched the debate…..we said no. They had, and agreed Hillary won. At one restaurant on Prince Edward Island, the waiter told us several Americans had come to the island, and bought property in case the DT won. They are very concerned, but glad it’s not their country he’s trying to win.

We’re working hard for our local Oklahoma legislature candidates here. This is where we have to start changing things for us. We have some excellent candidates and they are working hard. If we can change the ratio of R to D by 3 or 4, the entire legislature will operate differently, and Mary Fallin will have a check on her stupidity.

Well…..good Sunday everyone. MightyPamela, I know what congestive heart disease can do. Am remembering and praying for your brother.

Yes, indeed. In my generation PBO has definitely been the template of a really good and intelligent president and leader. We don’t get it, Meta, yet I find it lovely that in spite of their major smearing campaign they have failed to tarnish him! Too many GOP politicians/smearers have managed to seriously hurt some in their jurisdictions, but they haven’t hurt POTUS. May God continue to bless and prosper him and his family for decades to come!!

    This is sad.
BOGOTA, Colombia — Colombia’s peace deal with leftist rebels seemed headed to defeat as votes against the accord held a razor-thin edge in a national referendum Sunday, less than a week after it was signed in front of an audience of heads of states.

With more than 99 percent of polling stations reporting, 50.2 percent of ballots opposed the accord with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia while just 49.8 percent favored it — a difference of less than 60,000 votes out of a total of 13 million.

A few states where the “yes” vote was winning by a wide margin were still counting ballots, but as the hours passed the chances of reversing the result were fading. Pre-election polls had pointed to the “yes” vote winning by an almost two-to-one margin.

There was no immediate comment from President Juan Manuel Santos, who summoned advisers to an emergency meeting. His office said he would speak later Sunday evening. FARC leaders declined to make any statement until the government commented.

Interesting comment on SCOTUS being down a person…and what she thinks Judge Garland SHOULD do:)

    Frances Perkins | October 2, 2016 at 8:08 am | Reply
It has been my suggestion from the time pea brains like McConnell, McCain and Flake (who is the worst hypocrite because he attempts to sound reasonable, but ACTS like the worst ones in the Senate) have denied their duty to “advise and consent” that they have abrogated their responsibility under the Constitution. Therefore Garland should just show up and take his seat on the court. Who could stop him? McConnell on the steps of the Court like Wallace on the steps of the University of Alabama? This would be a reasonable AND legal step by Garland. Its not like Obama is going to send US Marshalls to stop him. If the Senate refuses their duty, then it is waved, and the seat is his, by default. Their obstruction has never occurred in US history, so Garland’s action, to just take the seat would be equally unprecedented, but within his rights, when the Seanate has waved their duty. Remember McConnell’s whine about “up or down votes”. Well his has waved his bodies duty under the Constitution.

Every year, the Social Security Administration collects billions of dollars in taxes that it doesn’t know who paid. Whenever employers send in W-2 forms that have Social Security numbers that don’t match with anyone on record, the agency routes the paperwork to what’s called the Earnings Suspense File, where it sits until people can prove the wages were theirs, allowing them to one day collect retirement benefits.

But there are still about 340 million unclaimed tax forms recorded in the file, compared to 270 million nearly a decade ago. A good portion of those forms were filed by employers on behalf of some of the most unlikely funders of Social Security: undocumented immigrants. In fact, illegal immigration is considered largely responsible for the mushrooming of the file, with undocumented workers paying billions in taxes for retirement benefits they will likely never receive.

Hard workers that will never receive SS benefits that they paid into….meanwhile, “you know who” stiffed workers and the real American taxpayers. I hope that karma continues to visit him….

Donors skeptical of supporting Donald Trump are beginning to open their wallets at the behest of Mike Pence. But it’s still not tilting the money advantage in Trump’s direction: Tim Kaine has added far more money to Hillary Clinton’s coffers than Pence has to those of his running mate.

Campaign officials credit Pence with helping bring in about $10 million for the Trump Victory Fund, a joint account with the RNC that allows individual donations of up to $449,400, through mid-September. That doesn’t include huge checks written by some of the Pence-courted donors to super PACs, the unquantifiable dollars that might have stayed out of the race if not for Pence’s presence on the ticket, or the $6 million that Trump and Pence raised together on Thursday night at a joint fundraising dinner in New York, aides said.

The bad news for the GOP ticket: Kaine has brought in at least $27 million and likely much more, according to a POLITICO analysis, suggesting that while Pence is helping, he’s doing little to make up for the Democratic ticket’s overall edge.

Whereas Kaine, a former Democratic National Committee chairman, is a force multiplier for the Clinton fundraising machine, Pence has been working to assuage major donors offended by Trump, assuring some of them that the GOP nominee is a different person in private than his bombastic stage presence might suggest.

Saying that the person “is different” in private is absolute nonsense. Reminds me of men who abuse their wives – but only when they are drunk. He is “so different” when sober. You are what you are ALL the time, not part of the time.

    Sharing from my fb…

As we grow older, and hence wiser, we slowly realize that wearing a $300 or a $30.00 watch – – they both tell the same time. Whether we carry a $300 or a $30.00 wallet/handbag – – the amount of money inside is the same. Whether we drink a bottle of $300 or $10 wine – – the hangover is the same. Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3000 sq. ft. – – loneliness is the same. You will realize, your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world.

Therefore, I hope you realize, when you have close friends and loved ones, who you chat with, have belly laughs with, cry with, sing songs with, talk about everything and nothing with…You’re already RICH!

    1. Don’t educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be Happy. So when they grow up they will know the value of things not the price.
2: Best awarded words: “Eat your food as your medicines. Otherwise you have to eat medicines as your food.”
3: The One who loves you will never leave you because even if there are 100 reasons to give up he or she will find one reason to hold on.
4: There is a big difference between a human being and being human. Only a few really understand it.
    5. You are loved when you are born. You will be loved when you die. In between, You have to manage!
6: If you just want to Walk Fast, Walk Alone! But if you want to Walk Far, Walk Together!

Good evening TOD! Thanks Nerdy for re-upping this great town hall. Interestingly, I read an article today by Brian Beutler where he used this town hall to basically say this is how a president should comport himself in office in comparison to the spectacle that is DT. Good piece.

    He concludes:
“You may not have to be as composed and error-free as Obama to be president, but you can’t be what Trump is: a useful idiot to anyone trying to sow American instability.”
