Good West Coast morning TOD family.
    Thanks NW!
Prayers for MP & her brother.

Had a busy day yesterday at Hillary headquarters in Pasadena. We had 21 walk-Ins for our phonebanking. They were in addition to all those who had signed up and came to volunteer. It was a loud and wonderful turnout 🎉🎉

Wonder if DT is being vindictive with Clinton because he was in such financial trouble (because of HIS bad business decisions!) in the ’90’s when everyone else was doing so well….it’s like a double shaming. Just wondering.

The media dimwits finding the truth at last – that only took 7 years. Meanwhile I gather Mark Halperin is still the biggest d!ck on MSNBC. Going to LOVE his meltdown on election night – will be better than any seen before.

Second Saturday of canvassing. Again, I was part of a team of 4. We we did blocks of mixed neighborhood this time around — again from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

By far, my best stop for the day. My partner and I got a 73-year old African American trucker. His wife was out, but is registered and will vote. His 20 year old nephew is registered, will vote. He said many of the younger truckers have been saying they are going to vote for Trump. He said he’s been urging them to go talk to their mothers and grandmothers about what they are saying. Did they know about the struggles of how we got the right to vote, he asked. Let them not vote and wait and see when they turn 73. He said, they say they are going to vote for Trump, “but you know what it is, they are not going to vote for nobody.” What’s sad, he said, is that the trucking companies now makes it easy for them to vote, give them the time, something that was not done in the past. He sighed, shook his head, his face creased. He seemed pained, and it made me sad, almost teared up. He opted to complete the vote by mail form, signed the petition to have rights for the previously incarcerated people restored. As we thanked him, he thanked us for “doing what you do.”

When we rejoined our two other partners, they said that conversation looked deep and hoped it was well worth it. It was.

We had what I called three bad apples. First one was a white man, who said he was thinking about voting for Trump. We missed an opportunity to ask him if we could convince him otherwise, but we decided to move on and take the opportunity next time it arose.

The second, was a white lady, who was visiting her daughter from an adjacent town, deep, deep red. Her daughter was still in her robe, so mom came to the door. She told us that her daughter is a Democrat and voting for Hillary. But for her part, she is not voting for Trump, and she could never vote for Hillary, because Hillary accused everyone about lying regarding the Monica Lewinsky affair, and now all this e-mail stuff, yada yada. We decided not to even try with this one. We thanked her for her time, told her to tell her daughter thanks for voting for Hillary.

Third, and last rotten apple, was a white man, who had a young black man living with him. The young black man answered the door, went and got him. When he came out, the young man remained in ear shot, as we talked to the homeowner. He started out by telling us that he was a registered Dem, but, “I am not ready to vote for Hillary right now.” So, I said, OK, fair enough, let’s start at the right now. Can I help convince you to get past the right now? He rambled on about her not being able to handle defense, keep the country safe. I told him she’s been Secretary of state, met with world leaders, was present when PBO and his advisers met to discuss Bin Laden before he was taken out and that I think she is fully ready. Then he pivoted to e-mail, Benghazi, I addressed that. Then my partner told him some about Trump, his erratic behavior, stop and frisk, etc. Afterwards, I said let me tell you more about Hillary. I talked about plan she’s implementing like the peace corp, that will enable students to do community service and save them huge college debts, that she will carry on with Obamacare, etc. Then suddenly the young AA man came out. He said tell me a little bit more about the community program again to help save college debts. I explained that that to him, with him listening keenly. He was interested. But then, homeowner comes with some other excuse.. By then, I nudged my partner, thanked him for his time and left.

Beyond that, everyone else we were able to speak with are solid in their support and voting for sure. One funny moment, guy told us that he had his Hillary yard sign up, but he took it down because he was having people coming over to lay down some carpet. This being a red county, he thought if they happen to be Trump supporters, he did not want them to do a crappy job. He will put it up again soon as the leave.

Another guy, who lives with his son and partner, said they are all three registered and ready to vote. “Don’t get me started on Trump, we can’t afford to have him in there.” Said the guy is an imbecile, can’t understand how he got this far.

Another lady is incensed. What did Trump do to get here and how did he get this far? She said God is not going to allow Trump to win. Still, we waned to make sure she was voting. Yes, she is.

    My take:

They all, also signed the petition to have the rights of ex-convicts restored. Overall, a productive couple of hours.

Next week, we participate in a breast cancer walk, also promoting Hillary.

Well folks, I am very excited. Tomorrow my hubby and one daughter fly to Charleston, SC to attend my only son’s wedding this coming Saturday, Oct 8th; My middle daughter and her boyfriend fly in this coming Thursday. As a hurricane is looming, please pray it goes north so we just get some rain mid-week. I can’t believe it’s already here. Hubby and I will also be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary on our son’s wedding day. Also, it will be 100 years to the day since my hubby’s grandfather wed his grandmother (our son’s great grandparents) on the same day. We are so excited!!!!!!

ANY INTEREST IN BEING THE MOST POWERFUL VICE PRESIDENT IN HISTORY????

What Team Trump was prepared to offer John Kasich

    http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/what-team-trump-was-prepared-offer-john-kasich

And with this in mind, the New York Times’ Robert Draper reports today on an amazing attempt at outreach from Team Trump to the Ohio governor.

One day this past May, Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a senior adviser to Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who left the presidential race just a few weeks before. As a candidate, Kasich declared in March that Trump was “really not prepared to be president of the United States,” and the following month he took the highly unusual step of coordinating with his rival Senator Ted Cruz in an effort to deny Trump the nomination. But according to the Kasich adviser (who spoke only under the condition that he not be named), Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?

When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.

Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?

“Making America great again” was the casual reply.

It’s such a pity the Democrats never touted the great achievements of PBO.
This article from The Atlantic titled – ” Thanks, Obama The historic—and underrated—economic record of the 44th president” should not only be spread far and wide but sent to Democratic lawmakers asking why they have not spoken about and campaigned on this.

I meant to add this paragraph:

A new examination from the Council of Economic Advisers credits the Obama presidency for the most aggressive and successful attempt to reduce inequality in half a century. “President Obama has overseen the largest increase in federal investment to reduce inequality since the Great Society,” the economists write.”

WHY LUKE CAGE IS THE HERO BLACK AMERICA NEEDS RIGHT NOW
    Keith Young, 9/30/16

Netflix has flooded the streaming streets with Luke Cage — the first time a Black character portrayed by an actual Black person is set to star in a title role in the Marvel/Disney universe. For those of us who periodically forsake the rest of our lives on weekends to binge watch things this is a big deal. For others who have never picked up a comic book or even heard of Luke Cage, this can still be a better way to spend your weekend in lieu of pressing “send” and setting of a cataclysmic chain of events that ends with a visit to either jail, doctor, or public defender’s office for reason that you can’t clearly explain to your parents without disappointing them.

So for the uninformed folks out there, here’s a quick rundown of who and what Luke Cage is about on the page and screen:

He was Marvel Comics answer to every bad Black movie idea from the 1970s

All of the elements of a Blaxploitation movie sans a bass-heavy funk soundtrack were thrown together. First, we throw in the time-honored Black-man-wrongfully-accused-of-some-shit-by-the-man trope. Then we add some a dash of the corrupt prison industrial complex experimenting on brothers for the sake of experimenting on brothers. Next, add in a ton of John Shaft and Mr. T from Troubleman levels of not taking any shit and a sense of righteousness and we’ve got ourselves a superhero.

He’s the prototypical “Big, bad, Black dude” that America fears and seems to categorize all Black men (and women) as

During Cage’s Anthony Bouvier-like unfortunate incarceration he was on the business end of some sketchy experiments that resulted in him becoming a super strong Black man with bullet proof skin — which sounds exactly like what Darren Wilson said about Michael Brown.

    No Capes

Sure, Cage dressed like a hyper-masculine Solid Gold Dancer back in the day, but now he just dresses like your cousin who works construction during the week and cuts hair at his house on Saturdays. Out of costume Peter Parker has set the standard for the “everyman” trope that has always been present in the various media based on the comic genre, but Cage wakes up in uniform and goes to sleep in uniform.

“Don’t you think a man who has this kind of economic genius is a lot better for the United States than a woman?” Giuliani then asked.
