    Hello TOD

There is something going on that doesn’t make any sense to me…

I have been following the Clinton campaign schedule for about a week now and I am observing something that bothers me. Hillary is only doing ONE event each day. Why? Trump goes to 2 or 3 states everyday and our ridiculous media will cover every event he has. Hillary is one and out. I know that she won’t get the same coverage that he gets but at this point in the campaign she needs to be holding multiple, at the very least, events each day. Yesterday was NC and today is NH. Am I missing something? I know she has other surrogates on the campaign trail that Trump doesn’t have but shouldn’t she be in the news all day everyday with just 40 days remaining in this campaign?????

    • September 28, 2016 at 3:02 pm

Donna, She was off the trail due to illness and debate prep; think in addition to rallies, she still doing fundraisers and pop-in visits at surrounding communities. While I’m thrilled that PA is getting so much attention, Hil x2, PBO, VP, Flotus, Elizabeth Warren all in Philly in the last three weeks, I wish they would branch out a little farther. Philly and the surrounding counties are important, therefore, they should do a few events in the surrounding counties! By concentrating all of their efforts in Philly, they are unintentionally telling the suburban folks that we don’t matter… Don’t think the campaign understands the rivalry and animosity dynamics in this state…

I’ve wondered about this too Donna, but I would guess that it is related to her illness and recovery. I’ve never had pneumonia but know people that have had it, including my nephew, and the recovery was a good month. And they didn’t feel “back to normal” for two months. I suspect she is worried about a relapse if she pushes it too hard. She was only down for three days, which isn’t much. Given she has the next debate in 11 days, she can’t afford to go down again. For now, she can rely on her surrogates and hopefully be fully recovered for the final push the last 4-5 weeks. Thank heavens she has the number of surrogates that she does. And for the voter registration push and getting out the millennials, Michelle probably is turning out better crowds that Hillary would (and a different demographic).

Ditto to jazziz2 & FoxfireTX. My mom had walking pneumonia and she was out for almost a month, she was much younger than HRC by 20yrs so I would rather she slow down plus PBO will be campaigning for her soon.

CNN just said a democratic aide is positing (referring to the 9/11 bill that was just over rides veto) that it’s amateur hour at the whitehouse??
First, no democratic aide would say that… That was a republican that said that…
Two: are democrats not sticking up for the whitehouse again? I mean a veto over ride of 97-1? Really? It’s that bad? Politics, I guess?
About half the time in the last eight years, it seems this president has been on his own. 👎👎👎😩😡

For the short-term — and it is very short now — I would say that news organizations should endeavor to:

Help assure that voters are informed on the candidates’ policies (I see next to none of that now). A model for that is WNYC’s Brian Lehrer’s 30 Issues in 30 Weeks.

Call lies lies. I cannot believe we are praising The New York Times for suddenly taking up what should have been its job from its birth.

Follow real scandals. That is, follow the example of David Fahrenthold with his reporting on the Trump Foundation finding apparent violations of law; compare and contrast to The New York Times’ collection of innuendos on the Clinton Foundation.

Abandon false balance. As Rosen says, asymmetry fries the circuits of political journalism. Deal with it. If Trump is a worse liar, bigot, or misogynist, say so without resorting to a next segment about Hillary’s damned emails.

Devote less time and attention to polls and predictions and be more honest: We don’t know what will happen.

Also stop predicting — and thus dampening — voter turnout. With their self-fulfilling prophecies of low turnout, savvy journalists deprive Americans of their franchise.

Stop booking surrogates. And fire paid surrogates (I’m looking at you, Jeff Zucker and Corey Lewandowski). This is a ridiculous invention of TV’s that has gone overboard in this election to help 24-hour-news operations fill airtime and create friction. It produces all heat, no light.

Listen. Go to the many constituencies who are unreflected in media and do not ask for quotes to fill in the stories you’ve already invented. Ask them what matters to them. And listen.

interesting about that vote to allow 9/11 families to sue Saudi Arabia…does anyone know what this is about…it took almost 5 years for the Congress to act on a health bill for 9/11 first responders….so i do not buy that this was about giving justice to the 9/11 families

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office is investigating a death on Osborne Road in Townville that officials said is connected with the shooting at the school. The location is a little more than 3 miles from school.

The coroner’s office said a man was found dead at the home, and that he died before the shooting at the school.

Investigators confirmed that the death has a “direct connection” to the shooting at the school.

Given that Newt is suggesting Hillary had the questions in advance, I have no doubt whatsoever that Trump’s lot will be looking for the ways & means to do exactly that – they so self project.

[These effers can really get my @#$%!! Now this:]

Senate Republicans Change Tone on Obamacare Debate

For the first time in six years, some congressional Republicans are willing to engage in conversations about fixing — not repealing — Obamacare, should another Democrat occupy the White House.

Republicans uniformly believe the next Congress must do something to address the Affordable Care Act. A handful of them would even be willing to work with a President Hillary Clinton to arrive at some sort of compromise.

This willingness marks a change from the past six years of GOP demands for nothing short of repealing and replacing the president’s signature health care law. Although Republicans would rather actually accomplish this under a President Donald Trump, they say the law is in such an unstable state that fixing it can’t wait another four years.

“There’s two ways” that action on Obamacare could play out, said Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in an interview with Morning Consult. “One, if a Republican’s elected, we’re going to have to deliver on our promise to dramatically change the health care system.”

“The second one is, if the Democrats elect a president, there’s some changes – there’s some bipartisan support – that ought to be made. But it’d have to have the White House support. So I think it’s going to be pretty much driven by what Hillary would say,” Grassley said.

      Not shocking at all.

The GOP’s “tone” on the ACA changes once the President’s skin tone changes in 2017.

So I just read this – white privilege in all its glory – and they wonder why folks get upset

In a press conference just held concerning today’s shooting at an elementary school in South Carolina, Anderson County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Garland Major reassured the community that terrorism was not a factor because the victims and the shooter were all white.

“The students were both white males. The teacher was a white female. The shooter is a white male,” Garland said. “There is no racial undertone, no terrorism involved.”

Some brain transplants are needed to fix this problem
