Trump is unapologetic about everything…every slight, every unethical behavior. What’s scary is that he lives inside his head and often *seems* to forget some of the things he does or says. Some of the “forgetting” is deliberate (selective memory), but sometimes I wonder if some of it is real. If his memory is *that* fragile, it’s another reason why he does not need to be in the White House.

Every time I hear Katy Tur nail him, I think about her story that she was posted in the UK (and had a French boyfriend), and then was assigned this “task” to follow Trump for more than year. And she says she lost the French boyfriend. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, Donald! Something you can’t buy off, when they have a national platform at a “news” organization.

Of course, she’s probably just a hard-hitting journalist (almost unrecognizable these days), but this is the story I tell myself. And I laugh.

Quick Takes: Trump Gets Zero Support From Fortune 100 CEO’s
    by Nancy LeTourneau

    * I doubt if it matters much to his supporters, but this is exactly the kind of thing that could get under Donald Trump’s thin skin.

No chief executive at the nation’s 100 largest companies had donated to Republican Donald Trump’s presidential campaign through August, a sharp reversal from 2012, when nearly a third of the CEOs of Fortune 100 companies supported GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2016/09/27/trump-hits-back-at-latina-miss-universe.html?via=desktop&source=copyurl

Donald Trump brought up former Miss Universe Alicia Machado during an appearance on Fox & Friends early Tuesday morning, doubling down on his previous insults about her weight. The former winner of Trump’s beauty pageant had come up during Monday evening’s presidential debate, when Hillary Clinton mentioned Machado’s past disagreements with the real-estate mogul. Trump had in the past reportedly called her “Miss Housekeeping” and “Miss Piggy” after she gained weight. On Tuesday, Trump defended those actions, saying, “She gained a massive amount of weight and it was a real problem.”

Good West Coast morning TOD family. I’m so glad I watched the debate last night. No amount of reading other people’s comments could replace watching Hillary in real time. It was a thing of beauty!
Seeing her and hearing her – spoke volumes

    • 37 57andfemale
      September 27, 2016 at 9:54 am

Yes, Trump lost the debate. But more important, HRC WON. She earned it, worked for it, understood the consequences, operated on many different tracks. She looked strong but not cold. My (sane) Republican friend in the office said she looked like she was putting up with a petulant four year old. She conveyed how to react to Trump’s ridiculous display. She did it throughout the debate. That’s subtle but effective leadership. HRC was fabulous.

Comfort level: I remember in 2008 after some debate with McCain, PBO won over people who weren’t “comfortable” with him. And he never looked back. No, she didn’t convince the Red Meat Brigade, but my friend in the office who doesn’t like HRC but was going to vote for her anyway, says she’s “comfortable” even “happy” with her vote.

Okay, I’ve been subtly coaching her all year on why HRC is a fine choice for POTUS. But Hillary won her enthusiastic support last night. Methinks she represents a lot of people out there.

I was remembering after the 1st debate in 2012 – there was doom and gloom everywhere & Ms Chips gave everyone a pep talk & said “He’s got this” – so I am most pleased to say “she’s got this” – would love if Chips could drop by & confirm 🙂

With Trump denying what 100 million (or more) heard him say, being very hard for the media to keep up their support (although the usual suspects are trying – very trying.)

There aren’t many. The vast majority of the electorate is baked in. The return of GOP to the GOP candidate was to be expected, even if its beyond odious that American Republicans prefer an incoherent, incompetent Mussolini wannabe in order to remain GOP. But there are some who are persuadable, and she spoke to them brilliantly last night. She managed the night, she managed Trump. She is immensely qualified to be POTUS.

Good Morning, TOD and a special “hello” and thank you to NW.
Stayed away from all media until this morning to get a recap of the debate on-line. I see Hillary was a Boss and a great strategist. Anyone who was wavering because of all of the lies that have been told about her over the years, should no longer be undecided or unsure or reluctant about voting for her. So much of politics and the way that it is covered is Middle School all over again. The male media people who complained that was “too prepared” sound just like the boys who never do their homework and try to make it a cool thing when the girls who always do theirs show them up. No one talks about whether a man smiles or not, but there are always comments about her laugh, her smile, how/why she does them. Little boys always say something about the way a girl looks when they realize that they cannot keep up intellectually. Then when nothing else works, the name calling, lying, tricks, and physical abuse come next. Boys learn this early and too many of them carry it on into adult life. I told people long ago that if they wanted to call me a bitch it was fine because it stands for a : Babe In Total Control of Herself. Hillary showed to the doubters that she is this kind of bitch and they kind that is ready to be president.
Thanks to everyone who had stronger stomachs than I who watched, tweeted and commented; NW you are a treasure; so happy that you share your master skills with us.

Honestly, someone in his/her late 20’s or early 30’s is TOO OLD to be taking an election like this lightly. I don’t cut these so-called “millennials” any slack. They are not kids…they are adults – many of them long out of college with marriages and young kids of their own. They have no business traipsing around looking for the so-called Utopian perfect politician that doesn’t exist. They need to grow the hell up and perform their civic duty as citizens of this country.

I know that every election is important even non-presidential. People who only vote for presidents is missing the mark. Last night, Hillary Clinton, the daughter of a drape maker, revealed the man behind the curtain. Combining the personal with the political, she hit Trump where it hurt – his brand, revealed to be as bankrupt as the businesses he bottomed out.
    .
    .
But it was the decimation of the Trump brand that seemed to bother him most. Trump complained at the end of the debate that Clinton had run “very mean” ads about him – neglecting to mention that these ads consist largely of Trump’s own words. Clinton responded with yet another personal tale of a woman Trump had insulted and degraded. She forced him to see himself as many others see him: as an abuser, a liar, and a failure.

GOP will fold. Not because of concern for the government. But because a powerful law firm in D.C., once upon a time, a Democratic firm, but now crawling with Republicans, is lobbying, for Saudia Arabia. Watch it.

    • 106 Ladyhawke
      September 27, 2016 at 12:00 pm

The GOP lead congress is broken beyond repair. After almost two month recess, we are confronted with the potential of yet another government shutdown threat in just three day. Josh Earnest made some good points yesterday.

Q And similarly, with the CR, do you — what is the status of that, as you perceive it, in terms of timing? And we know there’s a deadline, but —

MR. EARNEST: We do know there’s a deadline.

Q — do you see this coming together? Do you see huge obstacles? How engaged is the White House in the —

MR. EARNEST: I’m quite reluctant to predict congressional outcomes these days. There is a deadline looming before Congress, September 30th. That’s the end of the fiscal year. And it seems like at least every year of the Obama presidency, we’ve spent some portion of the last week in September worrying whether or not Congress was going to do its job and get its act together and ensure that the government would be funded and not shut down.

Unfortunately, Republicans who promised to get Congress moving again if they were handed the reins of the Congress have broken that promise and they have failed. And we, once again, here are four days before the deadline, and we’re publicly wondering if Congress is going to fulfill their most basic responsibility, and that is are they going to succeed in passing a budget to keep the government open.

And what we have seen time and time again is a reliance on the part of Republicans to try to do things on party-line votes. And that just doesn’t work. And I think it accounts for so many of their failures over the course of the last several years. They’re going to have to work with Democrats in both the House and the Senate, it appears, to pass this budget. So they better get to work.

Ten bucks says Hillary Clinton won that by a country mile. In fact, $23-trillion, or whatever the United States’ national debt is, says Clinton won that debate by a mile.

And, can we do that every week, please? Clear the network schedules. Never mind your old procedurals and comedies. That, people, was true TV drama. It was dramatic, surreal, funny at times and it came with a new, sizzling kind of vibe – the one where the woman, 68 years old, has the wit and stamina to defeat any man.

The essence of drama is conflict and there was conflict galore. Built up as the Super Bowl of political debates, possibly reaching as many as 100 million Americans, the first presidential debate was not the gladiatorial conflict that was promised. For more than a year Donald Trump has been the triumphant gladiator on TV. Abrupt and abrasive, cocky and caustic, he destroyed a lot of male competitors in the Republican presidential primaries. Facing a woman, in what was also billed as “Mr. Unqualified vs. Ms. Dishonest,” but wasn’t, he simply defeated himself.
    ……………………………

On Monday night’s debate, for all his male toughness and cocky confidence, Trump never appeared fully at ease in his own skin. He smirked and interrupted but gave the impression of being utterly humourless and thoughtless – and his regularly flashing a smirk had to make viewers wonder what the heck he was smirking about. The suggestion of innate smugness, a trait that is simply off-putting on TV, worked in the Republican debates, with their chaotic tenor and tone because Trump was the one who seemed most confident about himself.
    ………………………….

It was devastating to watch, a conquering act of coolness on a medium that gives victory to the cool. Ten bucks, or $23-trillion, says she has the stamina to do it over and over.

New polling points to clear debate win for Clinton
    09/27/16 08:45 AM—UPDATED 09/27/16 10:15 AM
    By Steve Benen
It didn’t take long a for a consensus to emerge: among pundits, partisans, and prominent political observers, there’s no real doubt that Hillary Clinton won last night’s debate. Democrats, who were rattled by recent polling, are suddenly walking with a spring in their step. Republicans, who were feeling increasingly optimistic about the presidential race, are choosing to focus on the fact that there are still more debates coming up, where Donald Trump will try to recover.

And though it’ll be a while until we have polling data that shows what effect, if any, last night had on the overall race, overnight surveys suggest the public and the pundits are on the same page about the first Clinton/Trump showdown.
Hillary Clinton was deemed the winner of Monday night’s debate by 62% of voters who tuned in to watch, while just 27% said they thought Donald Trump had the better night, according to a CNN/ORC Poll of voters who watched the debate. […]

Voters who watched said Clinton expressed her views more clearly than Trump and had a better understanding of the issues by a margin of more than 2-to-1. Clinton also was seen as having done a better job addressing concerns voters might have about her potential presidency by a 57% to 35% margin, and as the stronger leader by a 56% to 39% margin.
Also overnight, Public Policy Polling released the results of its own post-debate survey, sponsored by VoteVets Action Fund, which found less lopsided results, but which nevertheless pointed to a Clinton victory, 51% to 40%.

The same poll found most respondents believe Clinton has the temperament to be president and is prepared for the job. A majority said the opposite about Trump.
