gm Nerdy Wonka – many thanks for being here for everyone at TOD. What a fabulous 8 years at the White House we have witnessed – and more yet to come.

Yep. My tickets are for November 29th but I’m going down there today anyway. One of the benefits of living in the DC area. 🙂

      • September 24, 2016 at 10:09 am

Last night I booked tickets for December 13th. Doing a recon mission in preparation for a spring family/friends bus trip.

Drat! Darn-darn! 😦 😦 Drat!!!!! I have been planning to go down the last week in October as that’s when Offspring has ‘Reading Week’ AND one of the reasons was to go see the NMAACH in its early stages and *before* winter sets in. Darn, now I’ll have to tell him there’s little point in us going down! Grrrrr!

#ThanksMeta – (Yea, yea, I know it’s not your fault.)

        • September 24, 2016 at 10:58 am

Well, you should check anyway. Maybe there will be openings when things settle down.

That’s why I initially considered, and told him about, going during that week – my assumption that things would have settled down a bit by then. Part of me is pleased it’s booked but I’m also disgruntled that it may not be possible to get in. The idea was to go there as well as visit the WH visitor centre

Meta, have you ever cried tears of frustration, helplessness and ..techie-anger? My computer chose today of ALL days, right in the middle of my answer to you to update/install, or whatever the heck it was doing ….for over 4 HOURS!!!!!!!! I suspect I missed POTUS’ speech live. Sigh! I sign in to disappointing news, then got kicked out before I could even resolve that with myself. Drat-darn-drat-dang!!!!!!

            • September 24, 2016 at 4:10 pm

              UGH, that sounds terrible!!

                September 24, 2016 at 4:16 pm

It was **extremely** frustrating! After 3 hours I actually shut it down thinking it couldn’t possibly take that long and maybe the stop would sidestep the process – didn’t work! I was sooooo mad because had there been a warning last night or whenever, I could easily have turned it on when I got up and before I was ready to come online. Sigh! Anyhoo, I’m now trying to make sense of what I missed while I was offline gritting my teeth while good things were happening., while trying not to ‘kick’ my computer for its betrayal. :/

        • September 24, 2016 at 12:02 pm

Daily, they offer a limited number of same day, walk up tickets. Let me know when you are coming, I’ll try to shoot down and meet you for lunch or dinner…

GM Nerdy and thank you for all you have done to keep us informed. Been lurking this past 2 weeks, visiting with my Sister and doing manual labor LOL
Guess Congrats are in order for coming out on top. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Morning all. I hope the Museum of African American History becomes a must visit for DC tourists and school groups. In the meantime we have to make sure that the future of African Americans is not undermined by the election of a declared bigot. Work your heart out for Democratic candidates this weekend and the ensuing weeks. We cannot allow ourselves to be defined by the haters and the ignorant.

The political media will not discuss any positives about PBO – until he leaves office. THey never know what they have until it is gone – absolute fools and charlatans.

      Just posting this bj comment

That’s what I kept telling myself through Bush Junior’s administration. They just double down. Cleek’s Law has fully taken effect, Godwin’s Law has been suspended, and I don’t think this will end until they finally do something so monstrous, it simply cannot be ignored. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al killed hundreds of thousands, set fire to the Middle East, didn’t stop the biggest attack on US soil in history, giggled while New Orleans drowned, drove the economy into the biggest ditch since The Depression, yet that hasn’t stopped them from winning enough elections to be a major pain in everyone’s ass. This will not end well.

Antidote = the left moving their collective asses to the polls. Clinton and Obama twice proves there enough votes out there to beat these thugs.

Good morning everyone! Beautiful day for the opening of this museum…I can not get over the beauty of that building! It’s breathtaking, to me.
Anyway, I’m frustrated that I can’t watch the opening because for some unknown reason, I am in restricted mode on YouTube all of a sudden. I didn’t put me there! The first step to becoming UNrestricted, is to sign into your YouTube account…I DON’T HAVE AN ACCOUNT!! How do I get back to normal??/ HELP!

Donna…have a fabulous day loitering:) Lucky you!!

  15. September 24, 2016 at 10:05 am

Dear camera person: We’re not so much interested in Paul Ryan today.

    Tuning in late, apparently.

Most people out of their seats — does this mean I missed PBO? 😦

Nice seeing Susan Rice and family, though.

My heavens – how does one contact whoever is doing this broadcast & tell them to get Ryan out of the camera shots. I find this truly revolting and an insult to every black American.

    September 24, 2016 at 10:27 am

Really? Paul Ryan? The man that does everything in his power to deny POC anything? Denies funding for programs that benefit them? That he is here, honing in on a day, in a place such as this….for the accomplishments of AA DESPITE what people like him have tried to do to lock them out….is offensive. Just like they showed up at all the other ribbon cuttings that they denied funds for….always a damn fraud. This infuriates me.

  23. September 24, 2016 at 10:27 am

Shallow OT: Can’t wait to see what FLOTUS is wearing!

      I haven’t missed POTUS?

Sorta wanted to hop in the shower now (forecast for full-blown, 100F temp Santa Anas today and tomorrow 😦 ), but don’t want to miss him now (if I haven’t already).

    • 63 arapaho415
      September 24, 2016 at 10:47 am

FLOTUS’ dress is STUNNING and so appropriate.

Simple black and white, with so much detail, evocative of the Museum’s motif, pleats at the knees, (prison/slave?) detail across the bodice.

And PBO, who couldn’t look better in a suit, with his silver tie and silver-enhanced hair is just as stunning.

Simply stunning, gorgeous couple who grace us our country’s ambassadors to the world. 🙂

Since WH.gov.live is still streaming, I’m assuming I haven’t missed PBO.

Is Robin Roberts’ entire interview with POTUS and FLOTUS available online (aired yesterday, I think)?

This is cute, PBO bringing up the “afro picks” display in the Museum:

I think he had something to do (in a signatory way, perhaps) with the timing of the planning of the museum. Not sure. At least he didn’t decline to attend, as some current elected officials might. And our FLOTUS greeted him warmly, so it’s all good.

the people like paul ryan & justice roberts have no shame about denying us our rights or hindering our advancement. they keep on those fake smiles to our faces.
