    So sorry that I cancelled my plans to go to the opening. Just couldn’t take the chance with my health issues. Of course, the day after I cancelled, I started feeling better! When I wake up Sunday morning, if I’m feeling good, I’m going to shoot down to DC for the day; at least I can catch the last day of the Freedom Festival…

    was telling my friends and family that no matter what they claimed earlier, gop will mainly stick together and vote for the homegrown demagogue;

    some of the evidence I use is:

    – these are the same people who voted for GWB, twice, even though they knew how dumb he was and in spite of the fact that he and his band of crooks had lied us into Iraq. where you to ask some of them today, they would still tell you that yes Iraq had something to do with 9/11 and that indeed some WMDs were found in Iraq;

    – even at the peak of the economic crisis in 2008, when individuals and the nation was staring into the abyss, at least over 50 million republicans were still determined to vote for the party that had caused the crisis;

    – the number of republicans who would rather see their children die than accept ObamaCare. even poor republicans repeatedly vote for the people who are directly causing them harm (e.g. not expanding Medicaid ;

    – and yes, even poor gop find no irony in giving the little money to millionaires who are scheming them on the airwaves or running for president;

    so “Lucifer’s” endorsement does not come as a surprise to me

    U.S. intelligence officials are seeking to determine whether an American businessman identified by Donald Trump as one of his foreign policy advisers has opened up private communications with senior Russian officials — including talks about the possible lifting of economic sanctions if the Republican nominee becomes president, according to multiple sources who have been briefed on the issue.

    The activities of Trump adviser Carter Page, who has extensive business interests in Russia, have been discussed with senior members of Congress during recent briefings about suspected efforts by Moscow to influence the presidential election, the sources said. After one of those briefings, Senate minority leader Harry Reid wrote FBI Director James Comey, citing reports of meetings between a Trump adviser (a reference to Page) and “high ranking sanctioned individuals” in Moscow over the summer as evidence of “significant and disturbing ties” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin that needed to be investigated by the bureau.

    Some of those briefed were “taken aback” when they learned about Page’s contacts in Moscow, viewing them as a possible back channel to the Russians that could undercut U.S. foreign policy, said a congressional source familiar with the briefings but who asked for anonymity due to the sensitivity of the subject. The source added that U.S. officials in the briefings indicated that intelligence reports about the adviser’s talks with senior Russian officials close to President Vladimir Putin were being “actively monitored and investigated.”

    A senior U.S. law enforcement official did not dispute that characterization when asked for comment by Yahoo News. “It’s on our radar screen,” said the official about Page’s contacts with Russian officials. “It’s being looked at.”

    the homegrown demagogue thinks he has perfected the art of stealing from other people – or what he publicly called Other People’s Money (OPM);

    I don’t know how much he has prepared his protection of his body and little money in Russia from the characters that operate in the high financial circles;

    to make matters worse, his rhetoric and actions have not made him new important friends in the intelligence hierarchy in the US and other Western Democracies who would warn him of impending financial danger;

    it wouldn’t surprise me to hear that his fake gold-plated investments have been taken over by some equally corrupt foreign entity.

      Watching and listening to the police shooting videos I notice the police keep yelling “Put your gun down!” It makes me wonder if now that they have to film they yell about a gun even if one is not there in order to be able to plant one later, if needed. I know I am beginning to sound conspiratorial.

      …. reading his brief biography on line, this Carter Page seems to have US military training, finance background and connections to oil and gas projects/companies;

      can financial motives be the only motivation for agreeing to do such heavy-lifting for a foreign power or do they have another personal hold over you

        GM GCL.

        See my comment, just below yours.

        From the article:
        “Page came to the attention of officials at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow several years ago when he showed up in the Russian capital during several business trips and made provocative public comments critical of U.S. policy and sympathetic to Putin. ‘He was pretty much a brazen apologist for anything Moscow did,’ said one U.S. official who served in Russia at the time.

        He hasn’t been shy about expressing those views in the U.S. as well. Last March, shorty after he was named by Trump as one of his advisers, Page told Bloomberg News he had been an adviser to, and investor in, Gazprom, the Russian state-owned gas company. He then blamed Obama administration sanctions — imposed as a response to the Russian annexation of Crimea — for driving down the company’s stock. ‘So many people who I know and have worked with have been so adversely affected by the sanctions policy,’ Page said in the interview. ‘There’s a lot of excitement in terms of the possibilities for creating a better situation.'”

          For Trump and his team, there is one and only one principle: MONEY.

            this Page fellow has post-graduate training from some of the best institutions in the world. So I guess he should be able to live well

            but how much money is enough for one person not to cross some lines which directly point to more danger ahead?

            these people probably have more money than most of us will ever dream of having;

            perhaps that explains why some of us remain poor – we never sell our souls and reputations.

            my other suspicion is that Petraeus-like situation …. after all, it is Russia and their underworld characters we are talking about.

    Updated Friday, Sept. 23, 2:42 p.m. EDT: The Seattle Mariners have suspended Steve Clevenger for the remainder of the 2016 season without pay. Clevenger spent Thursday tweeting out vile messages about Keith Lamont Scott, who was gunned down by Charlotte-Mecklenburg, N.C., police, and those who have been protesting his death. In theory, the suspension sounds good until you realize that Major League Baseball’s regular season is over in two weeks.

      you could see from miles away that the greedy gop leeches will be coming to get more from him while the more socially conscience richer people would pull the rug from under him;

    President Obama has done more to confront this nation’s past, especially the Civil Rights and Vietnam War eras), than any other President. Both of these events did much to shape this nation, but until now have remained unexamined and ignored.
