Good morning all of TODville. It is a beautiful fall day here in Montana. I have company coming today to am busy cleaning. So glad we get company every now and then it forces me to do the deep cleaning I always put off.
I am not sure I want to watch the debate Monday night. I think I would rather follow it here and other places. I am afraid I might want to throw things at my tv if Trump gets out of hand and Lester Holt goes after Hillary. I’ll see how the weekend goes. I am so upset with the msm.
I’m thinking the same marilyn – Trump will get out of hand & I have little doubt all of the moderators will be going after Hillary – they just have to support the bigot.
There are some good live blogs, Think Progress does it and it okay so is Talking Points. Daily Kos is getting better, I still am very unhappy with them but they do okay every now and then. I think there were be several of us here on TOD depending on those strong ones here that will keep us informed. I am sure NW will watch. She is so good at tweeting what is happening.
Even when I totally loathed dkos, I liked their live blogs of debates. I now marginally don’t loathe them as much as I used to, and it will be one the sites I’ll hit. Thanks for the info on Think Progress & Talking Points, although TPM has some loons that pissed me off as much as dkos is the Really Bad Days.
Please follow the debate on social media, especially if you are on Twitter, and focus on any good lines @hillaryclinton has. Use the hashtags #deate and #debates2016 to amplify her messages. Please utterly ignore T-Rump.
as usual PBO was right, this election is about who we are and whether our values and democracy is improved or diminished by this campaign and who gets to lead the nation
I wanted to share this little bit here on the damage that Trump is doing to the psyche in this country. Every Thursday morning, I have clinical supervision with my Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor. She is also my boss and head of social workers at a large hospital in my town. This is a woman that always sees the glass half full. On yesterday morning when we sat down, first thing she said is that, she was having anxiety about the elections, the direction and conversation in the country, thanks to Trump. Another girl shared the same feelings. They both talked about watching the polls and are following the way the media excuses Trump for things he does any says. But more importantly, we talked about how relationships are frayed because of Trump, how friendships are ending because of Trump.
When I read this article this morning, this little nugget jumped to mind, because, my supervisor alluded to the very statement the author makes here:
“The Trump campaign rejects qualities that make the United States great—kindness, empathy, hard work, thoughtfulness, inclusivity, intelligence, taking risks for greater good, leadership, hard smarts, truth—and elevates values—racism, classism, xenophobia, sexism, rank, blunt ignorance, thuggishness, hollow words, loudness, lack of substance, mendacity—that have never played a part in making America great” http://linkis.com/observer.com/2016/09/9lscY
We live in a Red District, and when he came to our town, the venue, our civic center was packed to capacity, with mostly white people. These are possibly our neighbors, co-workers, etc. Both ladies appeared genuinely afraid of the possibility of a Trump election. I tried to reassure them, telling them that I believe that there are more decent people in the country that would not sit by and let him win, that importantly people need to go out and vote.
As for my part, many people I know who earlier on said they were not going to vote for Hillary, because they were mad at her after 2008, I am trying to check in with them to have a conversation about voting. In my office there are only three of us. One of my co-workers was a Bernie supporter, but now she and her partner (and says many of her friends) will be voting Hillary. My other co-worker just got her citizenship. I helped her register to vote. She voted in the primaries for Hillary and will again in the general.
Tomorrow, from 9 a.m.-11:30, we will be knocking on doors for Hillary in my town.
It just seems like across the country, this ugly man is doing much damage to the core, than anything else.
But as an aside, one thing I have noticed, that unlike other campaigns where you saw people with yard signs, when I drive around where normally you see the party divide, I hardly see any Trump signs. But then when he came here, the place overflowed. On thing my supervisor said, they are probably ashamed to let folks know they are voting for him.
Thanks for sharing your observations/experiences. trump has provided a release for all of the seething racism, xenophobia, misogyny, etc that was brewing beneath the surface in this country.
Like you, I’ve seen very few trump signs, however, he’s been to my county twice in the last week. Last night I viewed all of the local video and photos from yesterday’s Aston rally — saw lots of my neighbors… KNOW THY ENEMY!
On the other hand, I’m very encouraged by “90 year old, white republicans.” They woke up in the summer of ’12 when they got checks, courtesy of ObamaCare, closing the gap in the donut hole. Once I explained the reason for the checks, one of the men started crying and said “they (GOP) lied to us.” After that, they started viewing PBO through new eyes and voted for him in ’12. I’ve had interesting conversations this cycle; trump scares the $h^t out of them. These folks lived through and fought WWII; all are voting HRC, however, dismayed that their kids and some grands are trumpsters.
I will neither fret nor despair; I am going to work my a$$ off doing voter registration/education and GOTV. Should trump somehow win, you’ll have to visit me in St. Kitts!
BTW, find it interesting that trump’s S-i-L and trusted advisor is the publisher of The Observer.
My thoughts on Palmer Luckey, the Facebook Near Billionaire”.
He is the punk that the dailybeast highlighted as funding DT’s alt-right hateful memes against SoS HRC and who the report claims has plans to expand this further and dominate;
when I first saw this story I was learning about this scumbag for the first time.
so, I did a little more Googling on who he is and what he was really worth;
it turns out that he is 24 years old and his net worth has been estimated to be about $700 Million (hence the use of the phrase “Near Billionare”.
Although he was a founding partner of Oculus, they have since sold it to Facebook and he now just works for them (but did not seem to have a managerial role) for their virtual reality projects.
he is known for being a show off – buying very expensive stuff and posting his activities and purchases on social media in comments filled with glee and taunting of those who cannot afford similar stuff.
The little I read about him makes me think a couple things:
– he has need to be somebody great, an influencer with buzz, and do it fast – and to hell with what people think or who may get hurt in the process;
-His arrogance at such a young age makes him exactly the kind of person who would be attracted to the homegrown demagogue he is supporting in this campaign;
– while he has more money than the average person, he is not really that rich enough yet to play with the big people who have been at this longer, have more money and are looking to “eat” smaller fish that are relatively new in the game
– yes he will spend his money because he want to be one of the cool guys;
– he appears to be so naïve that he doesn’t know that the financial and political machines will chew you up and spit you out so fast as soon as you have outlived your usefulness;
– at the moment, he seems to think that making money early guarantees that you will always keep making more;
– if I were advising him, I would tell him to look at individuals & companies that were once the toast of the ICT world and are now gone or barely surviving.
As always follow the caution => make sure that in life someone will be there to catch you when you fall
Mr. 57 talked to his brother the other night. He knew he had drunk the Kool-Aid but he still could not get his brain around the alternative universe that had occupied his brother’s brain. He was upset for days.
Last night, about 1:15 a.m, I heard a bang, like someone hit my fence out front.. then lights on my porch. I looked out the window and it turned out to be a police car in front of my house – his lights were turning which is why it seemed like flashlights shining in the window. Anyway.. there were 8 police officers.. with one guy sitting on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back. 6 white cops, two women, and two AA cops. They appeared to be just standing and shooting the breeze, frankly. Then the paddy wagon pulled up and I finally stopped watching. I watched just to see if they’d hurt this guy- seemed to be a LOT of cops for one person.
This morning I heard the neighbor through my window – stating that the guy had run from the police- that’s all I could catch of her comments. The point is this guy was white- and though it apparently took 8 cops to get him.. they managed to accomplish it without taking his life. It was impossible not to recognize this.

Great ad! Small businesses benefit from Democratic policies that level the playing field with the big boys. LOTS of immigrants to the US get their feet on the ground by starting up a small business.
This is the crucial moment in the video, when the officer in red is seen picking up & pocketing a dark object that was laying beside Scott pic.twitter.com/GQdmVuUgAY
What crumbs from Trump’s table can be so enticing to Ted Cruz that he would endorse a man that dishonored his wife and his father? At the end of the day if you can’t stand up for your wife, the mother of your children, the woman that if you’re lucky will be the last face you see before you leave this earth. If you can’t stand up for her, then what is it that you will stand up for? These guys have no honor, they have no code, no nothing.
How stupid! Instead of doing things that help people and being off work and another several weeks off, this is what they spend time doing…..must be hard doing nothing.
Well, here is something pretty cool: my nephew just posted a pic on FB, of himself “behind the scenes for One Shot, on the BET network. Such a fun shoot!” And so, y’all may be watching my talented nephew, Colin, on telly soon! 😃
Good morning TOD folks!
Congrats, vetivera24.

That man disgusts me to the core.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
he has done a lot of damage to an already morally fragile country that based on its history, is always trying to improve itself ;
In my mind, we have one way to stop some of the damage he has inflicted and that is to defeat him soundly;
then we can continue healing our wounds
Here here! Your post would make a good front page for Nerdy’s next post. Thanks for your thoughts and feelings, Africa
