Wow. I love this so much, Allison, thank you for sharing it. Powerful searing passionate truth from a man on fire with appropriate outrage. They can’t fool this gentleman, and I am so grateful he has shared his knowledgable perspective with us here.

Me too, GGail. John Lewis , who is only 5 years older than me, has been my hero for 55 years. He is what the Poet, Hakhi Mandhibuti, called a long distance runner in the long struggle for Black freedom and human equality.
Thank you so much for being you doing you as only you can do it, NerdyWonka. You are the fountain of truth, goodness, honesty, eloquence, and the torch lighting the way toward justice for all of us, and for the twittering public as well. I cannot believe how lucky we are to have your passionate tireless energetic comprehensive creative witty and fiercely accurate voice, keeping us informed and enlightened, delighted and moved. I feel humbled and sad thinking of how much you are exposed to the hateful sorry poison out there as you seek and find the news, the stories, the images. I feel happy knowing you are on the case, out there, gathering, commenting, curating and suffering no fools. You are the torch lighting the pathway. I hope you feel protected from the worst of it and uplifted by the love and gratitude we have for you and the joy and comfort and energy you bring to TOD. Thank you for being you doing you. Infinite gratitude 24/7.
Man, I so wish he could have been chosen VP. I like Kaine but Perez has done such a great job and would have really fired up a completely different part of the electorate.
meta, you can understand that the Dem party knew having a woman candidate would be a difficult sale for conservative america, but, to add a vp with a last name like Perez would be suicide.
Baby steps
conservative america is still made that we’ve had a black man for president for the past 8 years
Respectfully disagree, GGail. I do not believe we should ever bow to conservative America. And by passing over Perez, Latinos will have to wait at LEAST another decade or TWO to be able to advance to the highest levels.
It’s okay that we see it differently meta.
Look how long black american’s have had to wait (Shirley Chisholm, 44 years ago)…and we’re still not accepted.
Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby has been charged with felony manslaughter in the first degree, Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler told reporters Thursday.
Shelby fatally shot 40-year-old Terence Crutcher after his SUV broke down last week.
“We reviewed the facts of the allegations, it is our responsibility to determine if the filing of a criminal charge is justified under the law,” Kurnzweiler said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Crutcher and arrangements have been made for her surrender, he said.
Through her attorney Shelby has said Crutcher was behaving strangely and ignoring her commands, and she was afraid that he might be reaching for a weapon.
Developing story – more to come
Sorry, and I’m not talking about the facts of the case just the reaction to it, but the cynical side of me says it was easier to charge HER so quickly because she was a woman police officer. It’s the first thing I thought of. Would a male co-worker in the same situation have been charged, or would the pattern of no transparency and use of stall tactics and hiding facts taken hold right away? (This isn’t the biggest issue, and I’m glad she was charged, but there’s a hierarchy wherever we look. And wherever we look there’s sexism and racism. Again, I’m being cynical, but it sure looks obvious to me in this case.)
“…because she was a woman…” BINGO! Remember how long it took them to “investigate” then charge the reserve sheriff… They tried every which way to not charge him…
I went out today after my doctor appointment to check on my knee replacement to find the Essence magazine and the Vanity Fair magazine with PBO and Doris Kearns Goodwin. I read the interview online and loved it. I wanted to get both for my future Obama scrapbook. I successfully found the Essence magazine, but the issue of Vanity Fair I found was for October and was about Bruce Springsteen. Does anyone know if the Vanity Fair interview article has come out already or if it is coming out later?
I watched this in horror and now I feel sick to my stomach. It’s brutalizing and dehumanizing and I don’t know why the people of this nation have to keep being exposed to these atrocities.
i mean look how dangerous she looks. she's the smallest person in the pic by the way. pic.twitter.com/BM1AE8GCJJ
That bastard needs to be handcuffed, placed in the backseat of a vehicle, have pepper spray sprayed inside and then have the door close and see how he likes the way he feels.
Punk bastard. He does not deserve to wear a uniform of any kind unless it’s an orange jail uniform.
This is a post by my friend MIchael Twitty. He is a culinary historian, chef, teacher, scholar and powerful speaker and writer who is researching his own family history as well as the history of African culture and traditions in the food, economy, agriculture and life of the South. His blog Afroculinaria is always a worthwhile read. This latest post he did after the horrifying murders just this past few weeks, is so moving, profound, heartbreaking. I wish he did not have to write it, but I am so glad he did. https://afroculinaria.com/2016/09/21/one-bad-dude/
That’s why it infuriates me to see AA supporting DT and young AA men and women who don’t think they need to vote, or theirs no racism, with attitudes like what’s the big deal……until it happens to them.
This Congressional session before they go off on yet another recess will likely be a horrendous effort to propel their sick ideas. I know POTUS will not be having ANY of it.
I expect to see @GOP Congress try to pull all kinds of wretched games as they witness their outmoded party falling off a cliff. #DoYourJob
No budget, no #Zika, no voting rights, no nothing. @GOP Congress is about to go off on yet another very LONG recess. WORST Congress ever. pic.twitter.com/p2tWbp2MrF
It is always the Black families that are asked to speak out to quiet a community after their loved one has been killed by the police. Black mothers and black fathers have to grieve the murder of their child and then are asked to somehow soothe a community that has lost another one of her citizens by the actions of a policeman that didn’t see that citizen as a human being in the first place. You kill us then you want our family to hush a grieving community. You want Black people to act in a way that borders on insanity; you want us to accept the killing of our brothers and sisters by the very people that are there to protect them. And then you want us to not question how or why our sisters and brothers have been killed. You want us to continue to accept this treatment that no other race of people has been asked to accept. And then when we question this treatment you want to label us as trouble makers. It is 2016 and Black people still have to sing “We shall overcome.” Why are we the only people that have to sing that song? White people don’t have to sing it, no other group of people has ever had to sing that song, and they never did. We learned that song before we learned “Marry had a little lamb,” or “London Bridge is falling down.” This is the insanity that Black people have to endure, and somehow we’re supposed to hold hands and sing songs about our salvation, like singing a song about your salvation in the face of injustice is some normal shit. You shoot us down in the streets like dogs, oh um ok, how about you guys sing “We shall overcome.” When are we supposed to overcome? Someday as the song goes, someday.
Behind the Making of Hillary Clinton’s ‘Between Two Ferns’
In a presidential campaign defined by seething contempt and vitriol, Hillary Clinton sat down for her rudest interview yet: with Zach Galifianakis, for Between Two Ferns. The result is typically hilarious and awkward. As Galifianakis asked about her pantsuits, Trump, and emails, Clinton hit back with pointed glares and a palpable sense of What am I doing here? Of course, she knew exactly what she was doing — it was her idea. As BTF creator and Comedy Bang! Bang! host Scott Aukerman explained, it was Clinton who suggested doing the short, knowing how successful it had been when President Obama appeared on the show to get the word out about Healthcare.gov. Aukerman spoke with Vulture Thursday morning about how it all came together… http://www.vulture.com/2016/09/story-behind-hillary-clinton-between-two-ferns.html?mid=twitter-share-vulture
It means – like all things – Trumps campaign is about making money for Trump – only people paid on time – Trump companies – only people contracted – Trump companies. The guy is a snake oil salesman & people are voting for him. Sure is easy to con a republican.
Gotcha. I meant – I didn’t read the story – why would the Secret Service pay anybody for THEIR protection of the person? I’m way out of touch if that’s the case. Maybe I should just go read the story, but it reminds me even more of the awful Trump! Ugh.
Apparently for a long time the SS have been paying their travel expenses. Trump contracts his own company for travel so the SS pay the Trump company. Hillary contracts a company that leases planes. Her ss detail pays that company.
Cannot believe that so many can be conned by just one. He could teach the nigerian scammers a few tricks.
Translation: Yours, mine, our taxes, are going to pay Trump’s businesses, his airplane business, his hotels. It is one long EFFING CON with this POS who is straight up gaming the system.
So even if Trump loses the Presidential race his businesses profit by a lot instead of spreading jobs to many other American companies. His campaign is certainly not creating jobs for American businesses. Like he has attested to he believes in using Other Peoples’ Money (for himself).
Wow! Maybe some of us feels she’s a little off, let’s just say, but for him to say it and also to be occasionally on MSNBC as a guest is pretty revealing!
guessing that there are some PBO-critics who are already writing their pieces focus on outraged at him, even before they have heard all that he has to say
Savoring every remaining moment of the Obama Presidency!
Me too Judith. Congrats on 1st.

That piece should be sent to every local and major news outlet. We should see this video being played today on the 6 & 11 o’clock news.
Thanks Allison for sharing this powerful video.
Please y’all see that this gets to NBC, CBS, ABC, and all local affiliates like KCAL 9, KTLA 5.
This is absolutely powerful! Thank you so much, Allison, for sharing it with us.
Josh is so brilliant.
Excellent. Many thanks, meta. Love Press Sec and his optimistic clear calm and powerful awareness of truth and devotion to POTUS.
You’re so welcome. I just think Josh puts Trump and the GOP into perfect perspective. He’s a GEM.

Glad I wasn’t alone in feeling that way! They’re “transparent,” for sure.
I so agree. I am glad she is charged, but why not some of the men who were just as bad.
I thought exactly the same thing jacquie.
Same thoughts for me
I was wondering what was going on…….

How Trump’s foreign dealings could pose conflicts of interest
I watched this in horror and now I feel sick to my stomach. It’s brutalizing and dehumanizing and I don’t know why the people of this nation have to keep being exposed to these atrocities.
Grown big rusty ass men couldn’t handle this situation any better then that. Police officers are out of control.
They would have never handle a white kid like that.

Oooh, it is a good thing, that is not my child.
I thought I had shed enough tears for this week – then I played this video. I could not watch it to the end

Yes, Nancie, the pain touches us all.
I found what he wrote to be what we all black people are thinking and feeling right about now.
I know how incensed I became when I heard the helicopter person say those words. How dare he pre-judge this man? He should also be sued.
