Staying up to watch FLOTUS last night was worth it. She was wonderful as usual. Nora O’Donnell of CBS Morning said it was one of Colbert best show. I agree.

You have got to see FLOTUS response to Colbert asking her if she had any sympathy concerning the spouses of the candidates, and her response about Melania Trump stealing her speech. I loved her response. Why you might ask? Because there was no sympathy for FLOTUS when for five years Donald J.Trump was running around saying that President Obama was not born in this country.

The entire thing was fabulous! I was intrigued to learn of the CNN documentary and am looking forward to it. Not only did FLOTUS look spectacular, she was so charming and funny. The impression of PBO was so on..and seems to confirm what so many of us have speculated: Malia likes to talk policy with her dad while Michelle and Sasha have fun discussing fashion, etc. Possibly the best Colbert show I’ve seen in terms of sheer enjoyment.

Morning all. For those who are subject to anxiety attacks about the election, please, please delete all fundraising e-mails that use the scare tactic approach. These are professional fundraisers who believe this will trigger a response. Prove them wrong. Delete them without reading.

Don’t get hung up on poll reporting. The presidential election is won in the electoral college and The Corrupt One’s path to 270 is very tenuous, while we have may ways to get there. DT CANNOT win the EC without Florida–there’s no other path. Hillary can LOSE Florida and still have many paths forward.

Follow David Plouffe’s twitter timeline—he has been there and done that and knows all about nervous Dems.

Finally, remember that the Obama and Clinton campaigns are operated on the basis on complicated analytics, not polls. The people in Brooklyn know exactly what numbers they need out of each targeted precinct in the US to win the state. They also know exactly what percentage of the state HRC has to win to bring along the senatorial candidate. On election day, the emphasis will be on targeted precincts nationwide. Work with the campaign and we will get the job done.

Pf, as a fellow Pennsylvania, I’ll tell what I was told by our regional coordinator about the Senate race. If Hillary wins PA by a margin of 2, McGinty will lose. If she wins by 6 or more, McGinty will win. I think HRC is going to do very well in PA and if she wins big, it means the Dems have come out and Toomey is toast.

        • September 21, 2016 at 12:54 pm

I am encouraging everyone to vote straight Dem…and i am also encouraging folks to paint every GOPER with the brush of Trump…and indeed…Toomey in particular has been in lockstep with the obstruction of the President

Well done Jackie! These fundraising emails are ridiculous. Not sure how the Clinton campaign thinks they are helpful. One additional point., We have not yet seen the effect of PBO, FLOTUS, VP Joe and Jill and so many others on the campaign trail yet. This will make a difference in attitudes. Some podcast recently had a R commentator from the 2012 election who mentioned how much it hurt them to have the surrogate bench of the Dems on the trail in the closing weeks. We have the best surrogate bench anyone could ask for and it will pay off.

Bravo JackieG. Thank you for speaking TRUTH. May I also add, the quickest way to banish that anxiety is get involved– with the campaign in whatever way you can, calls, data entry, help get volunteers to campaign events, become a poll watcher on election day, voter registration. The “TO DO” List is endless. . When you are around/working with folks united behind a common cause, you’d be surprised how quickly your perspective changes.

Yesterday I had to take my car to the dealership to get is serviced, ok to get a tire changed, I admit it I don’t know how to change a tire. I’m one of those guys that like to pay people to do things. I have a gardener and every time he shows up my neighbor gives me this look like “bruh, c’mon man.” Well any way when I left the dealership and I went and had lunch. I went to KFC and I ate it in my car, I must confess, I’m a car eater. I like sitting in my car and eating while I listen to the radio. I think I’m going to have to give this car eating thing up because it’s another thing that will get you shot by the police, sitting in your car.

      I was going to tell you how much alike you and my husband are, until I got to the part about eating in your car. Not alike. My husband would never be shot for eating in his car. Wrong color. My heart hurts. I’m sorry enough that I will never vote for anyone that thinks that shooting a person of color first, is a good thing. This is disgusting. We need to make people accountable for their actions. Especially police that are SUPPOSED to Serve and Protect. That means EVERYONE. I might need to watch Michelle Obama again to get this nasty taste our of my mouth…. {{{Don}}}

From data culled from recent census reports via various news sources: least educated states (from 10 to 1): Idaho, Indiana, Oklahoma, Alabama, Nevada, Louisiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi, and West Virginia.

This article objectively sets out what we’ve all known for many months. Some of the critical findings:

While Trump declared open warfare on the mainstream media — and of late they have cautiously responded in kind — it has been Clinton who has suffered substantially more negative news coverage throughout nearly the whole campaign.

Few presidential candidates have been more fully prepared to assume the duties of the presidency than is Clinton. Yet, her many accomplishments as first lady, U.S. senator, and secretary of State barely surfaced in the news coverage of her candidacy at any point in the campaign. She may as well as have spent those years baking cookies.

Not a single one of Clinton’s policy proposals accounted for even 1% of her convention-period coverage; collectively, her policy stands accounted for a mere 4% of it. But she might be thankful for that: News reports about her stances were 71% negative to 29% positive in tone.

There was only one month in the whole of 2015 where the tone of her coverage on balance was not in the red — and even then it barely touched positive territory.

Clinton’s emails and the accompanying narrative — “she can’t be trusted” — have been a defining feature of coverage from the campaign’s start. Only occasionally have reporters taken the narrative a step further.

When 90% or more of the coverage of a subject is negative, the verdict is in. Even good news gets turned to her disadvantage.

In truth, the news media were driving the conversation, as they have with Clinton’s emails.
If Clinton loses, blame the email controversy and the media http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-patterson-clinton-press-negative-coverage-20160921-snap-story.html

This is happening across the country, I realize. A member of our extended family who has three bi-racial little girls just posted this message about one of them.

    ***

“So my 8 year old came home from school in tears saying that she doesn’t want Trump to be president because people (kids, I’m sure) have said that he’s going to separate everyone and send people that come from Africa and Mexico back to where they come from. She said “I’m so scared, mommy.” Now I know that this isn’t going to happen and I explained to her that this wouldn’t happen but it just upset me to the core that our children are afraid of this man becoming our president. I don’t like Trump at all and certainly don’t want him in office, but please be careful what you say around your kids because their young minds interpret things a little differently and they are scared to death.”
