    I am really looking forward to the Clinton Rapid Response Team ad on DJT and other people’s money. /smdh/

    Trump brags about using ‘other people’s money’ amid questions over charity use

    Trump, while calling for building safe zones in Syria financed by Gulf states, vaunted the benefits of doing business with “OPM.”

    “It’s called OPM. I do it all the time in business. It’s called other people’s money,” Trump said. “There’s nothing like doing things with other people’s money because it takes the risk — you get a good chunk out of it and it takes the risk.”

    I am getting close to feeling sick thinking of the current political theories that we will not get the Senate. I was resigned to not getting the House back with the gerrymandering in effect, but to think we might lose both the Senate and Presidency makes me sick. All the campaign donation pleas are so negative and scary. I knew the MSM was into close races and fears, but the Dem Party too? What happened to hope and future promise?

      Well, I think HRC will win the presidency, and we have a decent chance with the Senate, but the odds have not gone in our favor recently. I went to the Princeton Election Consortium and Sam Wang expecting good news because his projections usually are better and was shocked to see how much of decline recent polls show in the Senate races. Here is the data from there:

      Princeton Election Consortium
      A first draft of electoral history. Since 2004

      As of September 20, 8:04PM EDT:Snapshot (135 state polls): Clinton 296, Trump 242 EV Meta-margin: Clinton +1.7%RSS
      Clinton Nov. win probability: random drift 71%, Bayesian 81%
      Senate snapshot (48 polls): Dem+Ind: 50, GOP: 50, Meta-margin: D +0.3%, Nov. control probability: Dem. 64%

      Given the current polls, we need to win the presidency to also have the Senate but it will be a bare majority.

      I simply cannot believe it is this close. So much has changed in the last 8 years I think the country overall has gotten complacent, and forgotten how bad things usually are with the GOP in charge. Seven more weeks, and the first debate next week will be critical with early voting starting soon in many states. My best guess at this point is both sides will think they have won. If DT manages to stand up there for 90 minutes without collapsing into a puddle the media will give it to him no matter how good HRC is. It is depressing.

        That is exactly why I am depressed about the potential outcome of this election. Plus seeing a series of election debate clips on the past SnapBack snark that won a candidate the debate scares the *rap out of me since Donald is all about the comeback quip. I am not believing the amount of illegal things he is getting away with. Now he is bragging on using Other People’s Money to do things in his rallies and saying he will do that as a world leader. Sort of like building “The Wall” and having Mexico pay for it. The fact that he used his charity’s money for himself and to settle lawsuits.

      please don’t loose hope.

      the election is like a marathon and it is how you finish that determines the winner;

      we still have 50 days to go and that is a lifetime in politics;

      there are things that we can’t control but we can make a difference in the outcome by donating, registering your close network to vote, volunteering, supplying a campaign office with simple things like water, bagels etc., and yes praying if this is something that you believe in;

      put your head down and help the campaign anyway you can.

    After listening to PBO today, particularly his speech on refugees, this tweet smacked me up along side the head. I found myself counting months on my fingers. Obviously, I am in serious denial.

        • September 20, 2016 at 11:15 pm

          Stop listening to the drama, people! I don’t know what polls you are watching, but the polls I am watching show solid leads in three Senate campaigns in WI, Illinois, and Indiana. NC has a small lead for the Dem, NV is a toss-up, NH is a toss-up, Fl has the Dem within 3 pts as of today, and Missouri is now a toss-up (latest poll has Dem up by 1.). If any of those five break for the Dems we win the Senate!

    I don’t know if the NAACP or any other organization is working on this;

    but I am bothered that to my limited knowledge, members of the legal profession that focus on socio-economic and racial justice have not sued the gop leadership in Michigan

    the MI gop needs to be sued for taking away more and more rights from the ordinary people and the elected representatives (Flint, Detroit. etc);

    maybe be some organizations have sued and I missed the stories but they sure need to be more vocal;

    many of us were understandably upset about the water crisis but our outrage needs to continue;

    I think some of these issues or taking away a city’s rights to sue have to upset us too because this interaction is responsible to this continued marginalization of the people who were already grossly violated;

      Linda, the state has been taken to court numerous times and lost, and they have lost the city manager issue on the ballot. But their great gop governor and legislature just enact the new legislation with slightly different wording in an attempt to get around what ever the previous issue was. Kind of like the Obamacare battles, if you can’t win one way try another but in the Michigan case they have the legislature so they simply enact new legislation. At some point, you have to say the voters are getting what they voted for. Cannot believe they keep electing these idiots but they do.

    Interesting article on why Catholics are turning to Hillary. At least some of the credit goes to Pope Francis’ injunction to parishes not to push politics from the pulpit. Catholics also seem to be offended by Trump’s offenses against ‘reason’ and his anti-immigrant stances. Her support is strong even among conservative while Catholics who as recently as two years ago were turning to the GOP.
