“Chance the Rapper wants to encourage his concertgoers to do their civic duty, so he’s partnering with the NAACP for an aptly titled campaign, #StayWokeandVote.

The 23-year-old Chicago rapper will be offering fans the option to register to vote during his Magnificent Coloring world tour stops; NAACP Youth and College volunteers will also be on deck to help first-time voters register and prepare to vote in the November presidential election.

NAACP president and CEO Cornell William Brooks said via a press release that the Coloring Book artist’s musical message was one that resonated with the organization.

β€œChance the Rapper is an artist whose music praises and lifts up our common humanity, and whose call for action speaks to the yearning of this moment,” Brooks said.”

Don, I hear you and feel you. I was where you are yesterday. But then the birther thing came back up with the Costa interview and I immediately calmed down. It just makes me hate Trump more, but I hope he keeps it up. It is a huge motivator for all of those who love PBO regardless of religion, race, sex. It sends us right through the roof, and will ensure we get to the polls. Everyone other than white males know they will be next on Trump’s list of who to denigrate so it is spread far wider than the black community. I know it hurts, but in the end we will ensure it hurts Trump the most. I am determined that POTUS will NOT have to stand there watching DT being sworn in as the next president of the United State. Yes WE can!

      GA Foxfire.

Especially from the WHPC who apparently use Drudge to ask questions of @presssec during the daily press briefings and challenge this administration on things such as (which happened yesterday) — of course Josh Earnest replied as this tweet does:

And no mention from MSM about sequestration (alternative was government shutdown), which tied PBO’s hands re: military spending as they “report” all the wonderful things that Trump would do as President.

And from the previous thread, via Hopefruit2, from @LukeRussert (missed the news that he left NBC at the beginning of this summer):

I have been away all day and I see there was another DT shit storm that hit his media allies in the face again. For those of us who are “woke” there is nothing that this man can say or do, even if it were ever sincere, that can make up for what he and his allies in the GOP and the msm have done to the country as a whole and people of color in particular. Hatred, fear, greed, ignorance, and old-fashioned racism has brought us to this sorry point in American life. Those who built it need to own it and get out of the way because we are not turning back. We will go over, around, under and through them to drag this country up into one that truly begins to live up to its ideals; these ideals that have not been realized from the time that they were uttered.
On a more pleasant note, that top picture is now my most favorite of all of those taken recently of PBO. It shows charm, sophistication, an ease of manner, and a man who knows exactly who he is and where he is going. He invites us in to share the gentle humor and to warm ourselves in his smile and his quiet joy.

Just caught the last half of FLOTUS. LOVED how she emphasized how just a few votes per district made the difference in Ohio and other states. Most people don’t stop to think of that. That needs to be repeated over and over.

Nerdy, love that you put those two pics of PBO up today, after all of that DT obscenity.

The first pic is such a gorgeous example of his suave, cool elegance. The coolest, most elegant POTUS we have ever had (and yes, boomers, even more than RFK, in my opinion πŸ™‚ ) What a contrast to the gross, tacky, ugliness, evil hatefulness and idiot buffoonery of the man who questioned his legitimacy.

The second pic is one of my all-time favorites because PBO looks so carefree and happy. I hope he has many, many well-deserved moments like that after he leaves office.

It is up to us to make sure he can relax and enjoy his time post-presidency by doing everything we can to elect the woman he has asked us to help make sure follows him.

I am glad that these spoilers will not be on stage. We need just one person to crush the jerk that is D. Jackass T.

Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein have failed to qualify for the first presidential debate, and their running mates will not be in the vice presidential debate, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced Friday.
The decision means Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump will be the only two candidates on the stage, and Tim Kaine and Mike Pence, their running mates, will be the only participants on October 4.
Johnson has publicly said that being excluded from the debates would doom his campaign. The commission said it will review the criteria for the second and third debates in the future.

He’s already started the whining about Anderson Cooper. I’m waiting for him to come up with a reason why Lester Holt is not acceptable or some set up so he can say that the debate was rigged. At any rate, he should not be judged on a curve. Just showing up and getting through the night dodging questions and giving no real answers, or constantly pivoting and attacking HRC, or just spouting lies without being checked should not be a win for him.

We must also remember that there were reasons that PBO’s long form birth certificate was not released until 2011. 1) Only the State’s Governor could authorize release of a long form certificate; 2) From 12/02/2002 to 12/06/2010 Hawaii’s governor was Linda Lingle, a Republican, who did/would not authorize the release; 3) On 12/06/2010 Gov. David Abercrombie, a democrat and college friend of the President’s parents, was sworn in. He authorized the release of PBO’s long form birth certificate in 2011.

Always remember that without the collusion of the Republican Party birtherism could not have continued for years.

Pretty much succeeded in avoiding CNN and MSNBC today … but just turned on FOX for a couple of minutes. Ha. Neil Cavuto and some dude who never had a date are moaning that Harry Reid called Trump a human leech. They’re quite unhappy about it. They say there’s some rule that you can’t be sued for defamation for what you say in the well of the Senate, “but if Reid walked across the street and said that … ” and then their voices trailed off, in misery.

No mention of how Neil and the dude who never had a date feel about all the things President Obama has been called for the last eight years, by them and others, on FOX and off, across the street or not.

Just a couple more deplorable RWNJs. Hope it ruined their weekends! Go, Harry!

I think all of that PLUS it’s a ploy to generate more public (and private) sympathy to pressure the Obama administration into letting him back in the US scot-free. But just yesterday, the House congressional committee released a scathing report about his misdeeds…no mincing of words. He’s a felon.

God bless you Meta; that was epic πŸ™‚

I try not to talk politics with clients, unless they bring it up. Two clients of mine (a married couple) yesterday told me that they went to a Q&A premiere of that Snowden movie with Oliver Stone, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Snowflake via pre-taped film from Russia. They were both all serious and raving about the film. They were going on about him being a whistle blower and patriot and how “the government” make him go to Russia. From some vague comments they’ve made, I think the wife is a Berner and the husband is a Repub (he lamented once how DT “keeps messing up” – as if that were a bad thing).

The thing is, they are very rich and spend their free time traveling the world and throwing lavish parties. So, yesterday when they told me that they spent their evening at that Snowden event, all serious and “concerned” about the “government” I just wanted to scream. I made a couple of comments about what a strange place Russia was to go for someone supposedly concerned about civil liberties. I told them I had heard the movie wasn’t that good but that I had seen a wonderful movie recently: Southside with You. They looked at me with blank faces and said they’d never heard of it. That told me all I needed to know about their politics.

I left they’re with my thought bubble screaming, “A fascist, demagogue and wannabe dictator is running for President and THIS is how you choose to spend your evening and focus your energy and concern?!!!?” The privilege dripping out of that was just nauseating. I mean, so many on the so-called “left” who are white and financially secure have shown themselves to be such utter fakes during the last 8 years. Until Barack Obama and now that the HRC and Obama coalitions have joined, these people could clink their martini and champagne glasses together and talk about bullshit like the Snowden movie and pretend that they are “revolutionaries”. But they are just play-acting at giving a shit about anything other than themselves.

Whew! I’ve needed to rant that out since yesterday morning. Thanks, TOD, for indulging me.

The moment Snowden passed VERY sensitive national security information without authorization to foreign governments, the ENTIRE whistleblower argument completely falls apart. He jeopardized people and undermined this country. He’s a TRAITOR. End of story.
