If there was a “gaffe” this week, it wasn’t Clinton claiming that half of Trump supporters are unsavory, but the Trump campaign suggesting that the correct number is zero. Trump and Pence’s unwillingness to cede an inch to Clinton leashed them to the filth of the nation, which in turn revealed the truth of her critique in skin-crawling fashion.
Wittingly or not, Clinton has tricked Trump and his team into pulling back a very thin veil on an element of far-right politics they’d hoped to smuggle into power undetected. She no longer has to defend the claim that some of Trump’s supporters are deplorable.

Trump’s fellow Republicans are doing that for her—and they’re demanding he admit as much himself.

Eric Boehlert lists all the areas in which Clinton has actually been the transparent candidate while Trump has released nothing. It really is mind-blowing and glaringly obvious how the mainstream press has special rules for HRC that no one else must adhere to.

I’ve got nothing against an occasional plunging neckline, but I think FLOTUS’ version of the dress, with the empire waistline and more modest cleavage is a much cuter version of the design. The pattern of the fabric and trim just doesn’t work as well on the runway version. FLOTUS’ version not only has better lines, but is actually sexier to me. Of course, FLOTUS being in the dress makes a lot of that difference 🙂 She’s so vivacious and gorgeous. She’s gotten more beautiful each year.

Pamela will appreciate this thought: FLOTUS is a Capricorn, correct? It is said that Capricorns age backwards, getting younger looking and more fun loving and youthful as they age.

Trump Campaign Embraces Another White Supremacist Symbol: Pepe the Frog
    by Nancy LeTourneau
    September 14, 2016 9:41 AM

A smiling green man-frog doesn’t initially come off as sinister, and the origins of Pepe the Frog were pretty innocuous. But back in May, Olivia Nuzzi explained how this cartoon image had been appropriated by what we now call the “alt-right,” or white supremacists.

In writing about this, James Fallows says:

I’m not going to share the Pepe variants I keep getting in the mail, but they include:

Pepe as a sly smiling gas-chamber operator, inviting Jews to take a “shower”; Pepe working the crematoria, after the gas chambers have done their job; Pepe at the glorious new southern Wall, grinning at the plight of Mexicans trapped on the other side; Pepe as an Orthodox Jew, smirking (because of the “inside job”) as the World Trade Centers come down 15 years ago; Pepe with a lynch mob.

In response to Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables,” Trump’s BFF Roger Stone tweeted this:

I am so proud to be one of the Deplorables #Trump2016 pic.twitter.com/IFD1hfC60w

    — Roger Stone (@RogerJStoneJr) September 10, 2016

Donald Trump Jr. liked it so much that he posted it on his Instagram account.

Both of them express their pride in being associated with a white supremacist symbol. But they aren’t the only ones. Back in October, when white supremacists first started linking Pepe with Trump, the image was tied to a video titled, “You can’t stump Trump.” The candidate himself got in on the act, tweeting the image and video to places like Breitbart and The Drudge Report.

    “@codyave: @drudgereport @BreitbartNews @Writeintrump “You Can’t Stump the Trump” https://t.co/0xITB7XeJV pic.twitter.com/iF6S05se2w”

    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 13, 2015

Fallows says that all of this reminds him of the incident with the Trump campaign’s use of the Star of David. He’s right. But this one is even more sinister. Perhaps that’s because it seems to be flying under the radar a bit and is more reminiscent of a dogwhistle. The use of Pepe the Frog is designed to send a message to white supremacists: “We’re with you.” I don’t know of a better way of describing that than “deplorable.”

Love how PBO is still rocking it to the very end. We have one president at a time and he is leaving nothing to chance; sewing everything up as tight as he can so that we have a chance to live in a more perfect union no matter who signs on 1/20/2017.

  38. 73 CEB

My personal finances did better under Clinton and PBO. Was able to buy a home via the First Time Home Buyers plan that Clinton put in place (still in my home and never had difficulty paying the mortgage) and was able to retire before age 66 (my small investments rocked from 2011 to the present) without my standard of living going down (thanks Obama!). I am a single A-A retired school teacher who lives in the South. I do not know who these white people are who are feeling so left out financially. Those who say that they are for DT for this reason are lying; it is all about taking America back to the days when I and my sisters (who are also college educated women who purchased their own homes) and others like us were held back from attaining their American dreams. We are not fooled; Sisters will be coming for DT in a major way in November. Hold on Hillary, we are coming through!

You and I are about in the same boat, CEB, I’ll be able to retire at 53 but I’ll get mandatory at 57 house should be paid off before mandatory retirement. Retirement account jumped during the Kenyan’s time in office. I’m in Federal Law Enforcement, the stories I could tell about my coworker’s and their political beliefs. Some of them love DT, I can’t even carry on a conversation with them, no lost for me to tell you the truth.

        September 14, 2016 at 2:32 pm

CEB/DON – Like you I was able to go to college thanks to affirmative action but primarily I was from a low income household. I received one small government student loans, free state/federal grant money, and I also worked part-time. I was able to buy my first home before Clinton in 1991 by being in the right place at the right time, being able to take advantage of tax situation and getting my first job making decent money to afford my mortgage, taxes, etc. My place will be paid off by the time I reach retirement age with pensions from working for two different state agencies. With SS, my pensions and savings I will be able to live comfortable in my retirement ONLY IF DT does not get into office and they are able to privatize SS. Don it seems these “government workers” who are protected by unions are the most government hating people I have ever met but don’t mess with their state government pensions. The white males complain that “women” are given priority for management jobs never-mind women couldn’t get management jobs or be in these positions in the 70’s & 80’s. These men complain that the women bosses they have are “unqualified” and promoted only because they are women although there are men supervisors and in top management. I discovered early that in private industry white males are promoted fast and the women are kept in staff positions with the same education and NO raises. If you wanted a promotion you had to move to another department. I discovered state positions don’t discriminate as much and you are generally paid the same as the men doing the same job.

GOOD. It’s about time people started paying the price for their bigotry.

I live in a city with a sizable gay population. That pretty much means that gay people are your co-workers, your neighbors, your service people in all industries. You quickly learn they are people with the same dreams and the same right to respect, entitled to their civil rights like everyone else. The sooner we all learn that, the better for ALL.

Very quick and interesting read. While I disagree with her assessment that Occupy was the beginning of a social revolution, she nails a lot of what was wrong with OWS and the Berners after them

    From the article:

“After we got beaten up by police, we went back to that 1960s attitude of “Fuck the police!” But let’s be real: If most of us found our house broken into, we’d call the police. In the end, Occupy was an extension of the very system it claimed to hate—it was still ruled by a privileged minority.

“Bernie was the champion of the five percent. He had our politics. As upper-middle-class, educated white people, we have all the right talking points. But we cannot talk to black and brown people of the underclass suffering from these—experiences, because we have not gone there. And we have made a choice not to go there.

“The best thing we can do is not act like we know everything, because we don’t. It doesn’t matter if you don’t shower, or you wear secondhand clothes. You cannot wipe away the stench of white privilege. And why would you want to? We don’t want anyone to be worse off; we want everyone to have more privilege. Know your white privilege and use it. Unless we literally find ways to put ourselves between the barrel of the gun wielded by an officer and a person behind us, and say, “You can shoot this person, but you are going to have to shoot me first,” then nothing is going to change.”
