“Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America.”

I can honestly say that I never had a doubt about the job being too big for President Obama, it has become apparent that the office is too small for him. I don’t think that the office will be too big for Hillary, I also think she will pattern herself more so after President Obama than any other President, even her husband. I think Hillary will make her own way, she will in turn be a trailblazer much like President Obama. God shines his light on those that help others in times of need.

Saw this earlier Don and I came back to TOD just to comment on how much I feel your sentiments here. I have had these very same thoughts myself.

When the President and First Lady leave office, I hope they take the most luxurious, wonderful, private and satisfying vacation ever. Then, I will enjoy having both Madame President (who I am now thinking is much more of a liberal than her husband and, like you are guessing here, will govern with more audacity and tenacity, like her former boss, PBO) and the fabulous Barack and Michelle Obama as super citizen community organizers of the greater community of humans.

We can hardly imagine what a comprehensive social arrangement would look like any more, one that would provide the basics necessary for a flourishing life to all, without qualification.

Our moral imagination has become so stunted that the very notion might seem outlandish to some.

Yet, the traditions of Eid are a living microcosm of the kind of society we could have if we were to truly commit to recovering the kind of all-encompassing moral vision that we desperately need, excluding no one from the communion of human equality.

To the extent that there is ANY possibility that DJT can be elected President — and there will be a possibility until after November 8th, he shouldn’t be treated as entertainment. [I personally don’t find him to be entertaining.] His words and actions need to be taken as seriously as the office for which he is running.

Agree completely, but MSM is adamant in their position that they’re being fair to both candidates.

MSM cannot (or will not) admit that they treat DJT as entertainment (hence Matt Lauer host CIC “forum), HRC as if she already were POTUS and neither as a CANDIDATE for President.

All of these questions are rooted in a longstanding desire to learn the truth about Donald Trump, a truth that our media simply refuses to seek out. These are questions that any legitimate presidential candidate should answer and yet Donald Trump has been given a free pass on.

    That stops now.

Hillary is treated horribly by the media. I even forced myself to watch some cable shows last week and witnessed first hand that their coverage of her is shall I say, deplorable! They claim that Trump is a moving target that doesn’t allow them to stay on any one subject/scandal long enough for it to have an impact on him politically but choose to take any negative issue whether perceived or truth and just hammer away at her until it drives her negatives up and lowers her poll numbers. Then they sit back and say, see she has a problem with this issue or that issue when they played a major role is how the public views whatever issue they decide to make their focus. Meanwhile Trump just rolls along with one controversy after the next that they spend 5 minutes “informing the public about him”.

She and her campaign because of this are extremely guarded and protective of her. Trump and his minions questioned her health for two weeks and the MSM bought into this. They brought out panel after panel to discuss her health while Trump had a clown sign off on a ridiculous document with ridiculous commentary and treated all of this as if it were normal. She gets sick and instead of her campaign speaking up they keep this knowledge close to the vest until she gets sick in public. Then the media goes into a frenzy with the RW’s theories about what’s wrong with her. I hope her campaign has learned a very valuable lesson that she is going to be damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t so they might as well stop keeping this stuff from the media because it will only add fuel to the fire.

With that said, it is a sad state of affairs that our political system is such that a person cannot be ill and their political team feels that they are unable to speak about that illness without having all kinds of conspiracy and ridiculous accusations hurled at them. Hillary was sick and the public has a right to know that it was more than just some sniffles or an allergy reaction. The campaign has admitted that they should have handled this situation better but I wonder what was the real lesson that they leaned this weekend? I know as a women that we have a tendency to just push on through but I am reminded of something my son said to me about Hillary many months ago, “is there anyone on her team that will say no to her regardless of the political consequences”?

I wish her all the best and a speedy recovery and hope that she and her team now understand how to navigate the toxic political system that exists today.

There needs to be a outcry from the public about how damned unprofessional and useless the media has become. What is the purpose of Journalism, 4th Estate, when they pee in their pants if they say anything negative about a Republican? They were not afraid of RMoney but still tried to prop him up. They are so afraid to “lose” access to these liars and thieves Republicans that they do their bidding in fear of being called the “liberal” media which they do anyway.

What we need is our own media shows. I wish Oprah had started a “News Media” show that told the truth because we just don’t have any 24hr show that will give an honest reporting of what is going on. I heard on NPR that these people did a documentary about a young African American boy who had a lot of promise but due to being poor would up in gangs and murdered someone and is now in prison. They shopped around and found someone that will pay to have it shown on PBS, The One That Got Away, is what it’s called I think. They NEVER do stories of young African American men to beat the odds and become responsible taxpaying citizens in which there are millions of them but that’s too boring.

    Obama Rises While Clinton Falls
    by Martin Longman
    September 12, 2016 11:01 AM

The latest Washington Post/ABC News survey has the president’s approval number at 58%, which is higher than it’s been at any point since mid-summer of 2009. As Philip Bump explains, this is very good news for Hillary Clinton because it’s been historically much easier for a candidate to succeed a popular president of his own party than an unpopular one. I think that’s what we’d all intuitively guess to be the case, but the numbers do back it up.

As of now, the Post/ABC News poll is an outlier, showing somewhat stronger support for Obama than other surveys in the field, but they agree that the president has been rising and that he’s at over fifty percent approval.

Of course, what the actual candidate does matters more than how people feel about the incumbent, and Clinton has been going through a rough patch in her campaign of late. This probably explains why her polls and the president’s seem to be heading in opposite directions and the presidential horserace numbers have narrowed considerably since the conclusion of the two party’s conventions in July.

It’s not unlikely that widespread dissatisfaction with the choice between Trump and Clinton is the main driver of Obama’s improving approval numbers, as people increasingly reward him for looking good by comparison. If that’s the case, Philip Bump may be overstating how much Clinton stands to benefit from Obama’s popularity.

      From the article:

The safe space for the act of being white endures today. This weekend, the media, an ostensibly great American institution, saw it challenged and—not for the first time—organized to preserve it. For speaking a truth, backed up by data, Clinton was accused of promoting bigotry. No. The true crime was endangering white consciousness. So it was when the president asserted that it was stupid to arrest a man for breaking into his own home. So it was when the president said that if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon Martin. And so it is when reformers suggest police not stop citizens on so flimsy a pretext as furtive movements. The need to be white is a sensitive matter—one which our institutions are inexorably and mindlessly bound to protect.
