If, from the start, many in the media had been very clear about what was driving this election, then we wouldn’t be here with just 2 months to the election.

We can’t solve a huge problem if we don’t face it head on.

Hillary didn’t upset the belligerent racist, because well, they’re belligerent and they really don’t give a fuck about being called out. Who she really upset were the racist that thought they had their racism hidden and under control. She wasn’t speaking to the belligerent racist, she was speaking to the educated racist.

Though true, I wish HRC would not have used the phrase “basket of deplorables” and, thus, give ammunition to Il Douche and his camp of wackos.

I’m glad she used it and called it out.

I don’t have time to protect the feelings of white supremacists who would rather see me burn than prosper.

It’s time for white politicians and people to stand up and call it what it is.

        Enough is enough.

        • September 10, 2016 at 1:19 pm

SAME. This moment cries out for TRUTH, not more wallpapering over despicable attitudes and behaviors that have a profound effect on the outcome of this election. I say, STAND UP, SPEAK UP, NAME IT. NOW.

She was being the adult in the room while the rest of political establishment, including many dems, have been cowards for the past 8 years. More power to her. With 24×7 attacks on her character, public and personal life, she earned the right to speak the truth. No more go back to kitchen, woman bs. If she loses because of this, that says more about the “left”, than about her.

Yes!! To give a pass to every bigoted remark that Trump utters and pretend to have the vapors if Hillary calls him out is blatant hypocrisy. Trump and his hate crew deserve being named for the despicable creatures they are at every turn. Good for Hillary.

This gets to a key point in the 2016 election: Trump can deny his racism or bigotry all he wants. (He has repeatedly told reporters that he’s “the least racist person that you’ve ever encountered.”) But at some level, his supporters and opponents get it. As much as his history of racism may show that he’s racist, perhaps who’s supporting or opposing him and why is just as revealing — and it doesn’t paint a favorable picture for Trump.

Boomers will appreciate this — Garry Trudeau is an underappreciated genius, which he’s been steadily proving for nearly 50 (!) years now.

If only MSM were capable of just a fraction of insight that Trudeau possesses:

A top appeals court has overturned a federal official’s ruling that effectively allowed three states to insist on proof of citizenship when their residents try to register to vote.

The official, U.S. Election Assistance Commission executive director Brian Newby, agreed in January to change a national mail-in voter registration form to allow Alabama, Georgia, and Kansas to implement state laws requiring proof of citizenship.

Several voting rights groups, including the Brennan Center, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the American Civil Liberties Union, asked for a temporary restraining order in February to stop Newby’s decision from going into force, arguing that the new requirements would sow confusion and make it harder for some people to register – and therefore make it more difficult for the groups to carry out their mission.

This fifth columnist punk should be fired.

PSA for Californians (and perhaps others registered to vote in other states?):

    From the article:

“Officials in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties also reported a recent rash of calls from puzzled voters, as the group has launched the latest phase of a mailing that has reached more than 4 million California households this year.

‘Whether by intent or by accident, it is clear that the organization that sent out these mailings used bad data and failed to compare that data with the existing voter file,’ said Dean Logan, the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters.

The group behind the mailing, the non-profit Voter Participation Center, has made headlines before.

In 2008, the non-profit organized automated phone calls in North Carolina to African Americans that confused some registered voters about their status. And in 2012 the organization was criticized for mailings to ineligible voters, including sending a voter registration form to a dog in Virginia named Mozart.”

Why is this “group” not under investigation and put out of business? If they’ve been mucking up like this for the last 2 elections, there’s a pattern. They had no problem running ACORN out of business for imagined but not actual voter fraud.

Morning psla. Running way, way behind. This group, VPC, does amazing work registering women, especially women of color, single. moms, etc. My group has used their lists for the last 5 national elections to write to these women encouraging them to get out and vote. When our letters have been tracked for how efficient they are we find the letters make a real difference in elections. So their work is needed to get the voices of this demographic represented in our elections.
Yes, they screw up, as we all do from time to time, especially when dealing with mailing lists, etc, with thousands of names on them. Unfortunately this story makes them sound fishy, and I am concerned about it. But I like the comment of the local Registrar who says she would rather they call to verify their registration with her. The article does more to discredit VPC than anything about their committing voter fraud. VPC needs to tighten its methodology big time.

Thanks for the note CD! I really appreciate hearing the other side. I’m just starting to get re-involved with the campaign on the voter protection/legal side like I did in PBO’s 2012 campaign and some of the errors reported about VPC in this article mirror the tactics less scrupulous groups were pulling in 2012 and even the 2014 midterms to cause confusion and ultimately depress voter turnout which is the real voter fraud, IMHO.

Not five minutes ago I went out to my mailbox and people were running up and down the street looking for couches to faint on.
