    • September 8, 2016 at 10:21 am

I decided to break my rule and watch and OMG. What a horrendous mistake. Trump was completely idiotic and disgusting and Lauer was INFURIATING. I cannot stomach the so-called “press.” They are lazy, biased and manipulative. A real waste of time and energy for me. Never again.

    Good Morning TOD

This evening I start my work to get HRC elected our 45th President to maintain PBO’s legacy. We had over 100 people show up to volunteer at the official opening last weekend of our local campaign office. We will be assisting to register voters and GOTV in November for Virginia, NC, PA and OH.

Nerdy thank you for the stunning pics of our President. They warm my heart and inspire me to work just as hard to get Hillary elected as I did to get PBO elected in 2008 and 2012.

    The race is on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • September 8, 2016 at 10:17 am

Wow, that’s a great turnout! Because rents are so high here, I wasn’t expecting her to open an office. In fact, in ’12, we mostly met in coffee shops and restaurants. But she did open an office on one of the main streets here, so that makes a big difference. She also has one in Oakland. I do think at some point Californians will be asked to go to Nevada, just like in ’08 and ’12.

        September 8, 2016 at 1:39 pm

        Morning meta,
She opened an office here in San Rafael, and we have lots of volunteers for phone banks, data collection and the like. We are starting this week with phone calls to Nevada. And a bunch of my friends will be spending a lot of October in Nevada canvassing, etc., on gal for the entire month, several others for 10-14 days, or every weekend. Enthusiasm to help GOTV is very high here.

They want her to express hurt feelings about the virulent sexism that she endures just as they wanted PBO to go off about the racism that he faced. The media is all about trying to find a weak spot to exploit (unless you are DT whose weaknesses are on full display and are ignored). They also want to hurt both of them because in they do not bow down and kiss their asses. Most of the media is all gotcha questions and trying to build their own careers and sense of self-importance. PBO, and now the battle-hardened and wiser Hillary, do not fall for their bull shit and they msm acts like a spurned lover.

I listened to the Keepin’ It 1600 podcast last week. Jon Favreau and Dan Pfieffer were talking about the DJT junket to Mexico and the very low bar that the media was setting for him. Jon said it reminded him that David Axelrod used to call this ‘the dancing bear’ syndrome. Basically, you don’t give the dancing bear any grief for dancing badly, you give the bear credit for dancing at all.

Mentioned upthread to HF2 that I was literally exhausted last night after tweet deluge during/after the Matt Lauer/NBC #fail.

Now I’m throwing my hands up. Naturalized citizens know more than some candidates for President who appear on our Nov ballots (and in the case of DJT will appear twice on California ballots) and (!) the so-called “paper of record” NYT.

I’m not really surprised that Gary Johnson didn’t know who Harriet Tubman was. I remember watching an episode of “Jeopardy” years ago and one of the subjects was African American History. All three contestants had problems answering the most rudimentary questions about African American history, and these were the same folks that could tell you how many times Louis VII’s brother’s daughter’s best friend got gangbanged.

While our president is continuing to heal the world, the circus here goes on. Matt Lauer was dragged for his piss-poor performance last night. He and his incompetence became the story for his mishandling of the whatever that was supposed to be last night. He should stick to cooking demonstrations and interviewing empty-headed entertainers. I hope, but have little faith really, that the debate moderators will learn from this debacle and grow a pair to deal with DT.

  34. 68 Don
    September 8, 2016 at 11:20 am

Maybe we here at TOD got it all wrong, maybe we’re supposed to be a third world country governed by a strong man with a compliant press in tow because that shit I say last night was both scary and sickening. You had MSNBC applauding Trump for not chewing his food with his mouth open. You had an audience full of supposedly undecided voters suspiciously asking Hillary Clinton gotcha questions. And you had a moderator/morning tv show host swallowing whole every answer Trump conjured up without the tiniest bit of pushback. I’m starting to feel like Donald Sutherland in “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” fuck it, just go to sleep and it will be over soon.

    • September 8, 2016 at 11:42 am

A very apt description of exactly what happened last night. It was breathtaking in its complete idiocy. It is my fervent hope that we decimate the GOP in November. They deserve a public shaming, through and through.

    Hillary Clinton News Conference

Hillary Clinton held a news conference to take questions from the press. It’s the first one in more than 250 days. It follows NBC’s forum with both presidential candidates. Before taking questions, Clinton reiterated her committment to fighting ISIS and addressing other national security concerns. The news conference happened at the Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York just before she headed off to her next campaign stop.

I love that hashtag! Another know-nothing, arrogant, self-important jack ass has shown the world what he is. As hard as it is the go through what we have been through the past 8 years, the GOP and their media enablers are being brought down b their own devices. Like PBO, I believe that most people have a sense of fairness and enough intelligence (no need to be a genius) to see what is going on and they will show their displeasure at the polls. We have seen the gold standard (PBO) and we know dross when we see it.

Remember in 2008 when $carah Palin had the debate with Joe Biden how he had to be gentle with her so “women” wouldn’t think she was being abused and picked on by the big-bad-man but she was just as qualified to be VP? My how things have changed! I hope these men who treat HRC will make GOP educated women vote for her even if it’s because they don’t like the way she was treated. How they harp on every little thing she does, cut her off, etc., but let DT lie and not call him out on it, let him filibuster and never answer the question like $P thought she could get away with…..which she did.

I watched this press conference with VP Biden, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Democrats from the House/Senate and the anger I felt was overwhelming. I know it wont happen, but every American needs to see this press conference. After a 7 week recess, the Democrats are asking Republicans in congress to do their jobs. They are asking for the bare minimum. Sadly, that is falling on deaf ears.
