And the inevitable contrast the rw’er voluntarily voted for.

Oklahoma’s towns and cities are no longer allowed to ban fracking under a bill signed into law on Friday by Republican Gov. Mary Fallin.

The new law prohibits localities from choosing whether or not to have oil and gas operations within their jurisdictions, with exceptions for “reasonable” restrictions like noise and traffic issues. Other than that, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission will retain control over oil and gas drilling.

The state commission is run by three elected commissioners, all of whom are Republican. Chairman Bob Anthony is a member of the National Petroleum Council, a group that advises the U.S. Department of Energy on oil and gas industry interests. And Vice Chairman Dana Murphy is a geologist and attorney with “more than 22 years experience in the petroleum industry,” according to her bio page.

Yes, the earthquake, 5.6, woke me up at 7:03 this morning. The chandelier above my bed swayed for about a minute. The major topic of conversation, and yes Mary Fallin is not the brightest of best. We call her Mary Failin’.

So glad to see that China is smarter than the entire Republican party!

A little OT, but I like it. On my FB page this morning, I saw this tweet: “Election day is now officially, Taco Tuesday.”

    • September 3, 2016 at 10:43 am

Wow, carolyn, that’s a pretty hefty earthquake. I hope you didn’t suffer any damage other than frayed nerves.

SO looking forward to Taco Tuesday.

Apparently Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t acknowledge the greatness of Lena Dunham recently at some fancy get-together; she was in high dudgeon by his slight. Unfortunately there wasn’t a fainting couch available so Lena took to twitter to register her complaint.

      GM JER.

Was about to post amusing WH pool report, grousing about how China officials handle US press (hint: a lot like DJT):

From the pool report (I think it’s just after 11pm local time where PBO and Xi are now):

“Even as pool was preparing to give you the most riveting account of a stroll in the history of White House coverage, Chinese officials suddenly cut the number of U.S. journalists who would be allowed to witness the stroll from the original six to three and finally to one.”

Chinese officials have relented a bit, and now two photographers are allowed photos of late night stroll:
“In the end, after lengthy negotiations, they settled on letting two from white house press corps witness the leaders’ walk – a cameraman and still photographer now staging at scene of upcoming stroll.”

Good Labor Day weekend to all — hope you all have a great weekend, wrapping up this year’s summer (saw and heard geese flying overhead this morning, heading south 😦 ). Autumn has apparently arrived early this year in SoCal, lows in high 50Fs, highs in mid-high 70Fs 🙂 , unlike last year, when the weather didn’t cool off until November 😦 .

Most frustrating to me (of all the many things in the appalling election) is that MSM are doing their best to legitimize an illegitimate candidate who is nothing but a fraudster and self-promoter, while accepting this fraudster planting the seed that our amazing President is *not* a legitimate President.

Rachel Maddow has reported several times that Dan Rather said this woman can talk the legs off a table. /ouch/

      • September 3, 2016 at 4:12 pm

Rachel was pretty PO’d that Kellyanne *lied* to her about whether Roger Ailes was involved in Trumps campaign — formally or informally. She told Rachel “no” numerous times. Rachel has since found out from a number of sources that Kellyanne was not being truthful.

In a way, it was kind of amusing because Rachel was practically giddy that she was getting this interview. I think I remember others mentioning that there were answers given that Rachel should have challenged and didn’t…she was just beside herself that Kellyanne was sitting down with her. I guess she has gotten her head out of the clouds now and has taken off her rose-colored glasses.

          September 3, 2016 at 5:12 pm

I thought the constant gushing over Kellyanne Conway during that interview was a bit much. So It was rich to see Rachel be so indignant last night about Kellyanne lying to her face. Paleeze. What did she expect? Trump and his campaign are consummate liars. And yes, Rachel could have confronted her more aggressively on her responses to questions. I would love to see Kellyanne interviewed by Joy Reid. I don’t think Joy would let her get away with the long filibustering answers that were just delaying tactics. I still crack up about the talking the legs off a table comment. She definitely has the gift of gab.

Here’s the updated pool report w/ XI and PBO’s after-midnight stroll tomorrow (which is today on our side of the International Date Line):

    From the pool report:

“Xi: ‘This guesthouse, has a history of more than a 100 years in past it belonged to a family’ in the tea business.
Continues telling o about history of compound.

O: ‘The trees provide wonderful shade…are they native to the area?’

Xi: talks about the lake and how it’s public and people love it. Talks about city of hangzhou.
Xi Shows obama a pagoda and tells him about it.

They stop and sit down for tea.”

P.S. – LOVE PBO’s question, which is EXACTLY what I would have asked a guide on the same stroll, LOL.

Do not be concerned about D T visiting this Black church. The congregation will be polite because they were raised that way and they still will not vote for him. If they lay hands on him it will be to call out the devil. Relax, white people; we got this.

CEB, I wish I had your calmness, LOL, but Trump bothers me to no end. He is a liar and a fraud and a scoundrel, I hate that this church invited him, this invitation was totally not necessary.

      • September 3, 2016 at 4:17 pm

I have no doubt that it was primarily the pastor and not so much the members. This event wasn’t even open to all the members…just selected individuals from that church and other churches in the area.

And wasn’t it sickening all the praise he was heaping on the Bishop and his wife?!?!?!?

In recent weeks, reporters and the fact-checking department at The New Yorker have put their efforts into a series of reported essays about Trump and lying. No one here is suggesting that Trump is the only politician ever to unleash a whopper. In fact, Hillary Clinton has had her bald-faced moments—moments that are too kindly described as “lawyerly.” But, in the scale and in the depth of his lying, Donald Trump is in another category; this effort, which begins with Eyal Press’s essay on Trump and immigration and will continue every week through the election, is by way of keeping track of a record that appears to know no bounds, and certainly no shame.

This article is about a twitter rant that occurred earlier in the year but the content of which is still relevant.

“T. Greg Doucette is a criminal defense lawyer in North Carolina who also writes a legal blog. And he’s got some things to say:

    ‘T. Greg Doucette ✔ @greg_doucette
Need to rant briefly. You’ve been forewarned.
    12:06 PM – 23 Feb 2016 · Raleigh, NC, United States
    768 768 Retweets 1,131 1,131 likes’

In a 43-part tweetstorm on Tuesday, Doucette recounted a recent experience defending a 17-year-old black teen from claims by a police officer that the teen was doing 360s in the middle of the street. Over the course of the story, Doucette demonstrates many of the problems black people face in the U.S. court system and why changes never seem to stick.

We’ll let him take it from here.

I guess the new thing now is “Queen Sugar,” I haven’t seen it nor do I know if I’ll even watch. I’ve not seen Misty Copeland dance, nor do I know if I will. I say this not because I’m not interested in Sugar or Copeland. I say this because I already know how great we are. It is white America that finally needs to wake up to black America. Maybe it is time for white America to fully explore and study the black experience from the slave ships to the Whitehouse. It is almost embarrassing that they are still discovering us.

IMHO, this is such an important article… it offers a suggestion as to why MSM coverage of fraud by DJT gets little coverage:

The article also suggests that @NYTimes has a vendetta against the Clintons since #Whitewater — have no idea why.

Also relevant is @NormOrnstein’s tweet that I posted upthread in response to LH.

I do not believe Trump was trying to reach out to black voters, I believe Trump was reaching out to educated middle class white voters who might would vote for him, but they are concern about voting for a racists. So with what we saw this morning at the black church, Trump is trying to convince those people he is not a racists.
