POTUS was speaking right down the street from where my daughter works, and a few miles from where she and my new granddaughter live. Of course, as things go, my daughter and her family are in Colorado for the week. And tickets to hear POTUS sold out in a few hours, so I missed an opportunity to see the man. If he really does start coming back to Tahoe a bunch I will just have to move in with my daughter and her family. 🙂 🙂 Oh, he just said he didn’t have a place to stay, which is why he hasn’t come there before. I know a great little house within walking distance of the lake that he would be much more than welcome at. 🙂

And I am so glad he spent so much time praising Harry Reid. An amazing man. And I hope Catherine Cortes Masto gets elected to his seat as I know she will do a great job as well. Back to listenng to his speech.

Josh has a good take on what the Trump appeal is, it’s about domination politics. What happened today undermines his entire brand. He was all about weakness and appeasement today in order to create “optics”.

No, josh, he is not the beneficiary of ‘political correctness’. The punk is the sole beneficiary of the corrupt & complicit media not vetting him or not holding him responsible for what he says and what he stands for.

meta I agree, I watch Trump for a few minutes and then I turn it because Trump was reading from that paper like a six year old who had just learn to read. We understand how the media works. We have seen it up close for the last two President election. The media want a close race, they will forget Trump and his B.S. but we won’t.

The third-grade Berwyn, Illinois teacher that punished her students for speaking Spanish in her classroom has now resigned. She reportedly forced students speaking Spanish to sit on the floor and away from other students.

A South Carolina teacher punished a first-grader for fiddling with her shoes a week into the school year by tossing her sandals into the trash.

The girl said the sandal strap was bothering her during math class at Bryson Elementary in Simpsonville, and her teacher threw them in the trash and made her walk around barefoot for part of the day.

The district did not release the teacher’s name or whether she would face disciplinary action, saying it was a private personnel matter.

I went to see Southside With You.

    LOVED IT.

I really did. Didn’t go in with a lot of expectations, but I wound up loving it. People who had seen it all said the same thing – it’s too short. And, I have to agree with that. Yet…that’s what makes it good.

This wasn’t about the totality of the First Couple’s relationship. It was their first date. And, that’s all it was.

Yet, it was so much more. It was beautiful, romantic, without being sappy or mushy. These aren’t two people who fell in love like in the fairy tales. They had to get to know one another.

I think part of the love was that the movie seemed like a love letter to the South Side of Chicago. Outside of one place where they went to talk, it all took place on the South Side of Chicago. I took that to heart.

The actors did very good job, and if you can, get out and see it.

About Colin Kaepernick’s Stance and the Chafed Compatriots
    Awesomely Luvvie
    August 31, 2016

Colin Kaepernick is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, and he is in the middle of a public hailstorm right now. He decided to sit down as the national anthem played before a game, and he has been caught up in the rapture of hate ever since. When asked why he did it, Colin said:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Colin’s biological parents were white (mother) and Black (father) but he was adopted and raised by upper class white parents. He can’t pass for white, though. He looks ethnically ambiguous based on how he’s rocking his hair. However, he recognizes that he is a brown/Black man, like Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and countless more.

This stance that he took has brought so much vitriol his way. Even his own biological mother is fixing her fingers to type over Twitter to her son that he shouldn’t have done what he did. I want her to sit her nickel ass down because ain’t nobody asked her shit. If you are sending this man tweets, then it tells me that you probably don’t have his phone number. Which, surely your 15-minutes of fame looking ass gotta shut the ENTIRE WHOLE COMPLETE hell up. The gahtdamb nerve of some people. She might have born him but her attempting to scold him is laughable. Keep it cute.

In 1988, a small-time drug dealer became the first man charged under a new, harsh drug law signed by then-President Ronald Reagan. Almost 30 years later, President Barack Obama granted a sentence commutation to Richard Van Winrow, a literal posterboy for the history of America’s drug war.

When he was 22 years old, Winrow was arrested in his mother’s home in Los Angeles, California, with 151.9 grams of crack cocaine, a scale, a gun and $3,209 (£2,444) in cash. It was not his first bust – he had been arrested three times over the course of three months with tiny amounts of the same drug, and admitted he was a dealer.

Winrow was sentenced to life in prison under a brand new law. He was the first person in the US to be charged under the Anti-Drug Abuse Law of 1988, one of the cornerstones of Reagan’s “war on drugs”.

“The poor schmuck just happened to be unlucky that he is the first one,” Assistant US Attorney John Gordon told reporters at the time.

This week, that same “poor schmuck” got the news he has been hoping for for 27 years – he is going home. He was one of 111 inmates who were granted clemency by President Obama this week. A total of 673 inmates have been approved for clemency by the administration so far.

Those there just are there to have a good time and cheer Trump’s imaginary promises. Scary stuff! Hope the media does not get the election close again as I cannot take him being POTUS.
