POTUS was speaking right down the street from where my daughter works, and a few miles from where she and my new granddaughter live. Of course, as things go, my daughter and her family are in Colorado for the week. And tickets to hear POTUS sold out in a few hours, so I missed an opportunity to see the man. If he really does start coming back to Tahoe a bunch I will just have to move in with my daughter and her family. 🙂 🙂 Oh, he just said he didn’t have a place to stay, which is why he hasn’t come there before. I know a great little house within walking distance of the lake that he would be much more than welcome at. 🙂
And I am so glad he spent so much time praising Harry Reid. An amazing man. And I hope Catherine Cortes Masto gets elected to his seat as I know she will do a great job as well. Back to listenng to his speech.
Josh has a good take on what the Trump appeal is, it’s about domination politics. What happened today undermines his entire brand. He was all about weakness and appeasement today in order to create “optics”.
No, josh, he is not the beneficiary of ‘political correctness’. The punk is the sole beneficiary of the corrupt & complicit media not vetting him or not holding him responsible for what he says and what he stands for.
meta I agree, I watch Trump for a few minutes and then I turn it because Trump was reading from that paper like a six year old who had just learn to read. We understand how the media works. We have seen it up close for the last two President election. The media want a close race, they will forget Trump and his B.S. but we won’t.
Tell it Bob – TOD is such a blessing to report on what the President is saying. Shame that the US media thinks people are only interested in GOP nominees.
I just heard Randi Rhodes say that the pastor who invited Trump did not want him to speak. He only wanted Trump to sit and listen. Not sure of Randi’s source.
I have a feeling that the pastor’s congregation did not want to hear Trump speak. You are right bella. Only the media is buying this Trump bull. I wonder how does his racist supporters feel?
Exhaustion? Just like he accuses Hillary of? That means he cannot keep up with the rigors of the Presidency. His message that Hillary is not up to the job should be thrown back on him with this as an example. Go for it media!
The third-grade Berwyn, Illinois teacher that punished her students for speaking Spanish in her classroom has now resigned. She reportedly forced students speaking Spanish to sit on the floor and away from other students.
A South Carolina teacher punished a first-grader for fiddling with her shoes a week into the school year by tossing her sandals into the trash.
The girl said the sandal strap was bothering her during math class at Bryson Elementary in Simpsonville, and her teacher threw them in the trash and made her walk around barefoot for part of the day.
The district did not release the teacher’s name or whether she would face disciplinary action, saying it was a private personnel matter.
omg. Ain’t nothing private or personal about treating a child this way. This kind of power really bothers me. This poor little girl, to be taught such hurt as so young an age, imo, is just about unforgiveable.
I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL JESUS CHRST ESTABLISHES HIS KINGDOM……………THESE BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN OF COLOR WILL NO LONGER HAVE TO FACE EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE FROM RACISTS WHO NEED TO BE TRANSPORTED TO HELL FOR ETERNITY!
I really did. Didn’t go in with a lot of expectations, but I wound up loving it. People who had seen it all said the same thing – it’s too short. And, I have to agree with that. Yet…that’s what makes it good.
This wasn’t about the totality of the First Couple’s relationship. It was their first date. And, that’s all it was.
Yet, it was so much more. It was beautiful, romantic, without being sappy or mushy. These aren’t two people who fell in love like in the fairy tales. They had to get to know one another.
I think part of the love was that the movie seemed like a love letter to the South Side of Chicago. Outside of one place where they went to talk, it all took place on the South Side of Chicago. I took that to heart.
The actors did very good job, and if you can, get out and see it.
Colin Kaepernick is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, and he is in the middle of a public hailstorm right now. He decided to sit down as the national anthem played before a game, and he has been caught up in the rapture of hate ever since. When asked why he did it, Colin said:
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
Colin’s biological parents were white (mother) and Black (father) but he was adopted and raised by upper class white parents. He can’t pass for white, though. He looks ethnically ambiguous based on how he’s rocking his hair. However, he recognizes that he is a brown/Black man, like Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and countless more.
This stance that he took has brought so much vitriol his way. Even his own biological mother is fixing her fingers to type over Twitter to her son that he shouldn’t have done what he did. I want her to sit her nickel ass down because ain’t nobody asked her shit. If you are sending this man tweets, then it tells me that you probably don’t have his phone number. Which, surely your 15-minutes of fame looking ass gotta shut the ENTIRE WHOLE COMPLETE hell up. The gahtdamb nerve of some people. She might have born him but her attempting to scold him is laughable. Keep it cute.
Thank you {{{{NW}}}} …. you are always in my thoughts {{{{Chips}}}} …. so hope Steve has another restful night and healthful future {{{{Jacqueline}}} ….
Did Hillary give a policy speech today? Thought I read that somewhere. Meanwhile the media didn’t pause from the Trumpfest to note that there is a democratic candidate. Why do I let it bother me. It’s the voting that counts.
American Legion, and from the clapping, etc. it sounded like it was fairly well received. She spoke a lot about military people and their families and getting them the right benefits including mental health benefits.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tweet get unanimously dragged like that. I wonder if the MSM feels even a twinge of embarrassment in the privacy of their own homes when they think about how shamelessly they prop up Trump?

Some people talk to Americans of color like they own the place and WE should be grateful guests. We own the place together, buddy. Sorry.
In 1988, a small-time drug dealer became the first man charged under a new, harsh drug law signed by then-President Ronald Reagan. Almost 30 years later, President Barack Obama granted a sentence commutation to Richard Van Winrow, a literal posterboy for the history of America’s drug war.
When he was 22 years old, Winrow was arrested in his mother’s home in Los Angeles, California, with 151.9 grams of crack cocaine, a scale, a gun and $3,209 (£2,444) in cash. It was not his first bust – he had been arrested three times over the course of three months with tiny amounts of the same drug, and admitted he was a dealer.
Winrow was sentenced to life in prison under a brand new law. He was the first person in the US to be charged under the Anti-Drug Abuse Law of 1988, one of the cornerstones of Reagan’s “war on drugs”.
“The poor schmuck just happened to be unlucky that he is the first one,” Assistant US Attorney John Gordon told reporters at the time.
This week, that same “poor schmuck” got the news he has been hoping for for 27 years – he is going home. He was one of 111 inmates who were granted clemency by President Obama this week. A total of 673 inmates have been approved for clemency by the administration so far.
Trump is now continuing his raucous tough stance on immigration and crime at his rally. Just like nothing happened today. Those there just are there to have a good time and cheer Trump’s imaginary promises. Scary stuff! Hope the media does not get the election close again as I cannot take him being POTUS.

Aloha Chips, Nerdy, and all the TOD regs/lurks. Here’s your afternoon weather report from Hawaii.
Hurricane Madeline has weakened as it passes to the South of the Big Island– we’re experiencing intermittent showers and wind, with warm and sunny periods in between. Temp is high 70s, sky is blue with big puffy clouds. In short, it will be beautiful when PBO arrives!
Excellent!

Thanks, Nerdy! Do you have a day job or are you in graduate school? Thanks for making time for TOD!
Yes, thank you so much, Nerdy. This is a miracle, this place.
I see I’ve made it back in time from disturbing the weeds beside my home. 😀
Thank you, NerdyW, I’d forgotten this speech was upcoming!

Trump: We did not talk about paying for the wall.
EPN: At the beginning of the conversation with Donald Trump I made it clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall .
What an idiot. Did he not know that donnie dick is an inveterate liar before he ‘invited’ him into his country?
ON MY FB WITH WORDS OF WARNING FOR STUPID!
I like that #ChickenTrump hashtag! Didn’t listen to his remarks, but he even looked afraid when the woman to his left approached him.

Trump has run for president for more than a year without once visiting a predominantly black community. But he’ll go to Mexico on a whim.
This *is* pretty cool…
I LOVE THIS
I went to see Southside With You.
LOVED IT.

They showed her speech this morning. I watched it on MSNBC. It She spoke to the VFW or american Legion. Not sure which one.
American Legion, and from the clapping, etc. it sounded like it was fairly well received. She spoke a lot about military people and their families and getting them the right benefits including mental health benefits.
Thanks COS – I was no doubt asleep while that was happening. The media seems to have forgotten it quickly.
Jesus, really.
