GM TOD, and congrats on first amk.

If you think back, this is fairly typical with modern day presidents. Nixon was disgraced, so he pretty much just hid out. Ford retired and played golf. Carter works with Habitat for Humanity and goes around the world working on peace. Reagan goes riding at his ranch. GHWB retires to wherever he lives. WJC starts a foundation that saves lives. GWB learns to paint pictures. If you look at this trend, Republican presidents do nothing after their term(s) in office. Democrats continue to work to make the world a better place. One more reason we need to keep electing Democrats to the presidency.

      Have a good day everyone. {{{NW}}}. {{{Chips}}}

Good morning to you Gail. Of course I guess I should point out that Betty Ford, First Lady, started the Betty Ford clinic in Palm Springs, a clinic that is now huge and very important to that community. But the hubby pretty much played golf. I’ll have to see if any of the other Republican First Ladies did anything to help people once they were out of office. Time for some research.

    • August 25, 2016 at 10:43 am

And, see trending on Twitter that the Today Show staff was embarrassed by Al Roker’s comments about Ryan Lochte. Well cry me a river. White privilege on full display. Good for Roker and bless him. Hope he never apologizes and “walks back his comments.”

      • 20 catrst
        August 26, 2016 at 7:38 am

When you see those comments about Lochte and thank God, do a happy dance and want to hug Al Roker and at the same time notice the confusion on the faces of those that typically enable the white privilege and want to tell them off, what does that say about you. Inquiring minds would like to know.

Thanks for this vc, and for your weekly postings from DOI. I love watching them.

      • 35 vcprezofan2
        August 25, 2016 at 11:13 am

Morning, CD; Glad I am that you enjoy DOI vid clips. πŸ˜€ They are so good they make me feel envious that we of the north don’t showcase our natural beauty in a similar fashion.

        Re offspring’s desertion, I’m managing – no cooking or conversation if I don’t want to. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

In all seriousness, I’m fine. Offspring is a great companion because we are both relatively quiet/low key persons who generally just roll with the punches – together or apart. In the last unplanned two weeks, we did however bemoan the fact that we rushed through West Wing and then couldn’t find anything comparable we both liked. What with DC travel, meeting friends, and WW, we had a terrific summer together, however. Life’s good. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

How is the granddaughter – walking and talking, yet? πŸ˜‰ I bet you had a terrific time together!

        • 36 cd4biden
          August 25, 2016 at 11:50 am

I agree that it is hard to find something to watch after WW. I did enjoy Foyle’s War, which is a British crime series during WWII. Little to no language of the kind you don’t like. Check that one out. Our library has the entire series, so perhaps you can find it there.

And my granddaughter, thank you for asking, is standing and wanting to walk, though only 8 months old. Her mother walked at 8 months, and ran at 9 months. I haven’t been able to keep up with her since. I love watching how the gd is so proud of herself for things like only holding on with one hand when standing. She is a very happy baby, and on my recent visit she went into fits of laughter, full on unstoppable laughter, at me down on the floor on all fours, trying to get her toys out from under the sofa. I think this is a precursor of the effect I will have on her whenever I try to discipline her in the future. My goose is already cooked, at 8 months of age. Oh well.

          • 37 vcprezofan2
            August 25, 2016 at 11:59 am

Happy babies are a *treat* aren’t they? I generally think parents have hit *a* nail on the head when they can create an environment that relaxes a baby [and yes, I do know that sometimes colic makes that virtually impossible].

“I think this is a precursor of the effect” – Nah, it’s a precursor of the fact that she’ll laugh *with you* in happy moments. πŸ˜€

Oh thank goodness! I will hold onto that hope instead of the one I put forward. I look forward to laughing with her so much. She has one of those horse little heh heh laughs that just cracks us all up.

No bouncing from site – happy news is welcomed here. It would be the perfect antidote to DT’s garbage (perfectly relevant too) and not only because your gd is part if our future. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I’m suddenly thinking a short story each week from ONE of our many TOD grandparents would be a wonderful reminder of why we are ‘in it to win it’, as well as a reminder that DT is poison as he’s trying to destroy their country.

Hmmm, I see a parting of the ways coming, P, as I still only turn on my ‘mobile device’ when *I* want to make a call or send a text AND then I still use *real* sentences. Hospitals in the US city of Orlando say they will not charge for treatment provided to survivors of the Pulse nightclub massacre in which 49 people were killed by a gunman in June.

They say they will write off about $5.5m (Β£4.2m) in medical care expenses.

After the attack by Omar Mateen on 12 June, 53 people needed immediate medical attention.

People always act insane around elections, but this time the level of crazy is so far off the charts, we need Voyager I to track it.
#TheCultOfBernie hangers-on need some serious mental health help. It’s getting a little scary, between them, and the Trumpers with all their collective Hillary hate. I’ve honestly never seen so many people, so far in denial when the facts are staring them in the face. It’s as if everyone has turned off their brains. “LA LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR YOU.”

While I know the Trumpers are certifiable, but the BernieEmos have lost their minds, even calling this amazing blog – “fan fiction.” Seriously? Then I wonder who stages all these fake photos and news stories that are posted here? Where do they find the time or funds? Fake White House? It’s a set? Honestly, the level of denial isn’t healthy.

Screaming that anyone who donated to the Clinton Foundation MUST want something in return. WTF? Do these people demand cash when donating blood to the Red Cross? Or when dropping off stuff at Goodwill? Are they all so stupid they don’t know what the words “donation”, “charity”, and “gift” even mean?

They probably think this is Fan Fiction too, just because it goes against their firmly held belief in every word Rove has ever said about the Clintons. https://www.charitywatch.org/ratings-and-metrics/bill-hillary-chelsea-clinton-foundation/478

It’s getting hard to watch the regular local news, because they’ve gotten so fucking lazy, they just repeat crap without ever vetting it.

The collective stupid will kill us.

Democrat Hillary Clinton tops the magical 50 percent mark among American likely voters, leading Republican Donald Trump 51 – 41 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released today.

Hillary Clinton leading by ten is very bad news for the Republican nominee, but what is even worse is that 90% of those polled have already made up their minds. Only 9% of respondents said that they are open to changing their minds. This means that even if Trump got all of the people who could change their minds to support him, he would still be losing to Clinton.

Coulter Goes to War with Trump And It Is Glorious

    PublishedAUGUST 25, 2016, 12:47 AM EDT
Liberals may die tonight because there are limited supplies of those injections they give you for acute schadenfreude toxicity. Ann Coulter has been Donald Trump’s biggest New York City white nationalist supporter. She’s transformed toadying into a militant act. Just today her new book In Trump We Trust was released, a genuflecting, tour de force of leader principle obsequiousness. As many have noted, in the book itself she writes that Trump can do anything, change his position on anything – none of it matters. She and they are that devoted. Everything except shift on immigration.

So today, the very day her book comes out he shambles his way to embracing the Rubio/Bush ‘Amnesty’ agenda he spent the last year railing against and using as a cudgel to destroy the Republican establishment’s favored ones. She even had an opening book party hosted by Breitbart.
