But I am reposting this from the last thread. I am so furious with the media over the Clinton Foundation coverage. What is wrong with these jackals?
The idea that it is TRUMP screaming pay to play and the media buys it is nothing short of insane. Apparently, they have forgotten his two payoffs to the AGs of TX and FL IN EXCHANGE for their not pursuing lawsuits against Trump University. THAT is the definition of pay to play. So where is the coverage of that? Along with his Bank of China loans, loans and dealings with Russian oligarchs, etc etc. They do not have ONE instance of anything being done for the supposed access provided by the Clinton foundation. And it is big on every single media outlet. Absolutely disgusting.

She ALWAYS works in a negative in her comment, report or a question to someone she is interviewing. Repeat: ALWAYS. They are all the same–agenda to show PO in a negative light or question or criticize. And as we all know, they are desperate for a horse race between Hillary and Trump and will do whatever they have to do to make that happen or appear as such. I don’t hate people, but I sure come close to hating the media.
I stopped watching the so-called evening news years ago except to check-in to see how they report the lead-in story if it is about PBO, or to check in later in the broadcast to catch human interest stories like the Olympics or something weather related. So tired of the lies and the slanted right, so-called reporting. There is nothing liberal about the msm though conservatives have been putting that lie out for decades. PBO and his scandal-free effective administration (and his great wife) are the best things that our democracy has had during my lifetime. These news agencies could have had a front row seat to history in the making that will have positive effects on this country and much of the world for generations to come, but they chose instead to go for the quick dollar. They have shamed themselves and have damaged their profession so much that they are going the way of the dinosaur. Thank God for the many different ways to connect with people that the White House has employed to get around the useless msm.

Good for you, GGail, that’s exactly what we need to do–work hard and keeping moving forward. PBO and Hillary are not only seasoned politicians, they are both statesmen. They know what’s important and will not let the stupid idiots in the media nor the bullies in the Trump camp ruffle them.
I agree, Gail. I printed out a comment from a few threads back about the young man working on the 08 campaign and how he just kept his head down and kept on working. I keep it on my bathroom mirror so I remember each day. Course sometimes I end up going off on a tangent, but generally, like you say, I keep my eye on the prize. Hope you are well and the smoke in the area is easing now that the fire is contained.
I read that comment and it was so important. I also needed your comment today because I feel so violated, personally, by the GOP. I have always felt disgusted by their treatment of the President but have done what he encouraged, respect, empower, include. This time though I am feeling a lot more revolted than anything I have ever felt before. Maybe that means its coming to a head, people aren’t hiding their dysfunction as much but whatever it is I feel hurt and offended pretty much most of the time now. One positive thought just occurred to me. Hypernationalism, isolationism, bigoted populism, eliminationist political groups are seen in every country. They ebb and flow. Look at Canada. Those types lost their hold on the country and we see instant positive corrections. Perhaps this Trumpism playing out in our country right now will educate many people watching in the world that they cannot allow this know nothing populism to take complete hold of thier political systems whether it be from the left or the right. Maybe by dealing with this within our democratic system we will give courage and direction to countries that encounter the rise of this fear and power over based thinking.

Mrs. Clinton is up by around seven percentage points in polling averages. But historically, a seven-point victory for the president’s party in the national popular vote is not the way to start a wave election. Richard Nixon’s huge victory in 1972 didn’t give Republicans the House. Neither Ronald Reagan nor George H.W. Bush took the House in 1984 or 1988. Bill Clinton didn’t retake the House in 1996.
The president’s party had down-ballot success in those elections, but gains were generally modest.
A Hillary Clinton landslide, though, might be likelier to result in a big shift in the House than in the past. That’s because the relationship between presidential and down-ballot vote choice has tightened. In 2012, President Obama’s share of the vote tracked very closely with the result of contested House races, albeit with Democratic and Republican incumbents tending to do a bit better. The Associated Press has just shown us why it is important to be vigilant in how we consume the news as it is reported. They took some interesting information they gathered and spun it into something it wasn’t…scandalous. Here is their lead-in introduction:
More than half the people outside the government who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state gave money – either personally or through companies or groups – to the Clinton Foundation. It’s an extraordinary proportion indicating her possible ethics challenges if elected president.
Here is where it gets interesting. If you include the non-battleground blue states that Democrats have historically won with wins in that first four (where Clinton has big leads), she’s already at 272 electoral votes. Did you see what we did there? Clinton could lose Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Nevada and still win. That is how overwhelming the Democratic majority is in the electoral college right now. The much-ballyhooed battlegrounds are gravy and – at least in the era of Trump – Democrats are starting to play on Republican turf (Georgia and Arizona). Beyond that, states like Texas and South Carolina are trending towards being battlegrounds.
Certainly some of this is related to a distaste for Donald Trump. But it is also the beginning of a big shift in how demographics will change the electoral map. The new battlegrounds are states where we also see significant increases in the number of people of color. Trump’s insistence on a strategy of ramping up the white vote combined with Clinton’s excellent work with people of color is accelerating a shift in battlegrounds that was already underway.

US women’s gymnastics team flips over Broadway’s ‘Hamilton’
NEW YORK (AP) — How do you follow winning Olympic gold at the Rio Olympics? How about a chance to see “Hamilton” on Broadway?
The Tony Award-winning smash musical on Tuesday night welcomed the U.S. women’s gymnastics team — Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez — who gave the show a standing ovation and greeted the cast onstage afterward at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
The gymnasts, dressed in skirts and rompers, sat together in Row G to take in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop-flavored biography about the first U.S. treasury secretary, a night that had athletic gold meeting theatrical gold.
“I thought you were amazing,” Raisman told Tony Award-nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, who just happened to be making his debut appearance replacing Tony Award-winner Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr.
“Gymnastics is my favorite Olympic sport, hands-down. Since the days of Kim Zmeskal, I’ve been about the U.S. gymnastics team. So, I love these ladies. I’m so proud of them. I worship them. I think they’re amazing and I got so hyped when I heard they were in the audience tonight,” Dixon said.

Here is where it gets interesting. If you include the non-battleground blue states that Democrats have historically won with wins in that first four (where Clinton has big leads), she’s already at 272 electoral votes. Did you see what we did there? Clinton could lose Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Nevada and still win. That is how overwhelming the Democratic majority is in the electoral college right now. The much-ballyhooed battlegrounds are gravy and – at least in the era of Trump – Democrats are starting to play on Republican turf (Georgia and Arizona). Beyond that, states like Texas and South Carolina are trending towards being battlegrounds.
Certainly some of this is related to a distaste for Donald Trump. But it is also the beginning of a big shift in how demographics will change the electoral map. The new battlegrounds are states where we also see significant increases in the number of people of color. Trump’s insistence on a strategy of ramping up the white vote combined with Clinton’s excellent work with people of color is accelerating a shift in battlegrounds that was already underway.

90% of Australians live near the coast – and we have a warm climat – you learn to swim real early in life.
I love water – living near it (but not too near due to floods, climate change) is a delight. Growing up I could look out the bedroom window & see the Pacific Ocean.
😀 I love water too – as long as I am not expected to cross over (in any way) large ‘portions’ of it. Not to mention that in my climate when you live too close to lots of water you have to contend with ‘lake effect’ snow.
We don’t do snow and ice – not ever, not at all. In the world with Ms Chips in charge, I would be in trouble
You and I will talk Leader Chips into a compromise – not too hot, not too snowy/icy. 🙂
