So his own new campaign manager thinks he “built a lot of his businesses on the backs of the little guy” and that people “suffered” because of his actions. That pretty much undercuts everything he claims to stand for.
Imagine Hillary confronting Trump with this in a debate. No way to spin out of it.
This may have already been discussed. Did a little checking of the church Trump/Pence visited in Baton Rouge, to apparently give it a windfall in donations. Or not. Looks like that awful Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council was there to greet them and may be the current interim pastor (he’s the one who believes natural disasters are divine punishments for homosexuality – and then he lost HIS house this month in the Louisiana flood, go figure), along with the awful Franklin Graham, Billy’s boy, who just loves Trump.
Looked up the demographics of Baton Rouge, and according to the last census, 50.4 percent of the population was African American, 40.8 percent was white, etc.
Here’s the “staff” of the church that welcomed Trump/Pence, which is located “on the outskirts” of Baton Rouge … I thought it was African-American reach-out week for the good old boys at the top of the RWNJ ticket, but I must have been mistaken:
The American women, especially the African American athletes have given a master class in excellence without whining, scandal, or showboating. We are greatly in their debt as role models for kids. Hope they have an awesome time at the White House when the Obamas invite the Olympians over to celebrate.
Trump supporters have now been promised a nation where non-natives, and their children, are locked outside the borders forever. They have been promised, inside a new wall, new factories where everyone will build things, speak only English and be rich. What will happen when they learn that none of this is real?
The challenge to responsible leaders of any political party will be to separate the economic discontent from the bigotry and paranoia that are the key to the Trump phenomenon. The question to future Republican leaders is whether they will even try to do so.
Nope. Republican leaders will not try to separate economic discontent from bigotry. Running towards the discontent of racist Whites has been the Republican strategy since the Nixon era. Why would they change now?
Trump continued his multi-day effort to court the African-American vote with an appearance Saturday night on Fox News.
Trump’s message to the black community: Your lives are so miserable, I couldn’t possibly make things worse. He ignores the black middle class and describes the entire racial group as uneducated, unemployed and desperate.
Trump told Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro that blacks in America have “no health care, no education, no anything.” He described the lives of African-Americans as “a total catastrophe.”
Pressed on what he would actually do for African-Americans, Trump said that he would “get jobs,” without elaborating. Trump also promised to bring “spirit” to African-Americans by being a “cheerleader.”
His outreach needs some work. Better yet, he needs to just stop talking.
Trump is simply stereotyping African Americans as poor and shiftless. He has no respect for them unless they are sycophants like Omarosa or Ben Carson.
Keep in mind that Trump is encouraging his supporters to harass Black voters at the polls as he’s calling for poll “watchers”. The man is a racist through and through. Just look at Bannon who is running his campaign. Bannon runs Breitbart.com, which is an alt-right magnet.
Black Americans aren’t crazy and Trump will be lucky to get 1% of their votes.
So apparently the August SEC Filings are available & the $80m? that the media thought was the best ever ever fundraising for Trump – didn’t happen?? I don’t understand much of it but the bottom line says he raised
$36,682,127.29 – so something under $37m – Where’s the rest of it. One reporter who queried same got hit by the trump trolls
Trump campaign said it raised $64m online & direct mail with JFC, but only reports total of $36 mil for campaign. Was not all $ transferred?
You can tell how far behind I am in TOD! I saw BB King many years ago, and said damn, didn’t even see his fingers strum those guitar strings, that’s how fast those fingers strummed, great he was & still is. Joe Cocker was a sweet soul, I believe, he did so many quiet things, supporting. i always loved his quirky style of singing, yet capturing that inner soul aspect. Clapton grew in my eyes much more than his gift of music. He has (hope it’s still there) a rehab place in Antigua. No fuss, no muss, gorgeous environment to get your act together. Eric, tho, can play that guitar! Uhh!
Texas has highest maternal mortality rate in developed world, study finds
As the Republican-led state legislature has slashed funding to reproductive healthcare clinics, the maternal mortality rate doubled over just a two-year period
From 2000 to the end of 2010, Texas’s estimated maternal mortality rate hovered between 17.7 and 18.6 per 100,000 births. But after 2010, that rate had leaped to 33 deaths per 100,000, and in 2014 it was 35.8. Between 2010 and 2014, more than 600 women died for reasons related to their pregnancies.
In the wake of the report, reproductive health advocates are blaming the increase on Republican-led budget cuts that decimated the ranks of Texas’s reproductive healthcare clinics. In 2011, just as the spike began, the Texas state legislature cut $73.6m from the state’s family planning budget of $111.5m. The two-thirds cut forced more than 80 family planning clinics to shut down across the state.
And still they vote for the GOP. If every woman in Texas refused to vote for Trump – the state would be dark blue.
Thanks NW.
O/T…but this was just the sweetest story….listen to the two of them singing together….Alzheimer’s hasn’t stolen his music:)

Trump is a billonaire, he could have written a check for $1million dollars.
If, in fact, he is a billionaire. I have my doubts.

I’ve been thinking of her a lot. I hope she’s ok. I wish she would just check in to say she’s ok.
More from Allyson…Great advice.
Actually, I think this is a more elegant way to say ‘Good night’ to all of you ….

And for more on PBO and @FLOTUS’ dinner tonight:
WH pool report on PBO and FLOTUS leaving dinner:
“The president has finished his dinner at Chesca’s and his motorcade is on the move at 9:28 p.m.
The pool didn’t lay eyes on Obama, but there were some loud calls of “I love you” from the crowd.”
Since Gawker’s shutting down this week, wonder if this tweet feed will move to another online site?
I hope the Obamas enjoy their vacation.
Isn’t this douche a rethug shockjock?

Then there’s always BB King + Eric Clapton. Thrills! 🙂
BB is checking out his proteges! And they are jamming it all the way! 🙂
Love all this wonderful Sunday morning music. Most is new to me. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love Joe Cocker, Clapton, and BB King. BB King even played here in Missoula many years ago. There is nothing like hearing them live.
You can tell how far behind I am in TOD! Thanks for the music, Gazelle!
