I don’t recall seeing anything about this trip, other than here because NW is on it! Thank you, Nerdy!

Most of the coverage will be here, too – the media will be too busy following Trump. Actually, I also spent too much time this morning throwing back his new statue at Trump, every chance I got … maybe I’ll go on to my next hobby, now. 🙂

These fuckers hate the government so much that they’d rather risk their citizens dying than to ask the federal government for help.

In that top tweet, Chris Christie’s working in Florida, now?

As far as the next tweet – Ryan’s too busy planning his next Repeal Obamacare move to think about Zika funding.

So Republicans in Florida sit around and wait for the ZIKA virus to spread before demanding that their Party’s leader do their dang job and pass legislation? What a great strategy.

      Idiots all.

      • August 19, 2016 at 6:50 pm

Scott was responsible for some self-inflicted wounds…he cut funding for mosquito control.

“Scott bashes feds over Zika funding, but slashed mosquito control money”

As the Zika virus spreads in Florida, Gov. Rick Scott has toured the state, talked up his administration’s commitment to fighting the mosquito-borne ailment and frequently criticized Congress and President Obama for not spending enough to help out.

But Scott is far less eager to talk about his own record of cutting mosquito-control programs over the years, including the elimination of a state-funded pesticide-testing facility that was once known as “the mosquito lab.”

As Scott asks for money, though, experts say he bears some blame for his tea party-inspired budget cutting that began early in his first term.

Under Scott, state-aid to mosquito control programs was reduced 40 percent, from $2.16 million to $1.29 million in 2011. Scott also ignored pleas from fellow Republicans that year when he cut a special $500,000 appropriation for the Public Health Entomology Research and Education Lab in Panama City Beach, which had been founded in 1964.

This is why the good people of Florida should have voted his behind out of office when they had the opportunity to do so. The man is a vulture and could care less about human beings. He only cares about profits.

  5. August 19, 2016 at 12:58 pm

I’m sure this applies to all registered voters in every state…

…Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted’s decision to launch, as the New York Times editorial put it, “the controversial purging of scores of thousands of voters from the rolls for failing to participate in three consecutive federal elections.”

Here’s the NYT editorial about Husted’s attempt to suppress voter turnout, which notes: “In a survey of voters struck from the rolls in the state’s three largest counties, which take in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus, those in Democratic neighborhoods were removed at roughly twice the rate as those in Republican neighborhoods, according to a Reuters report.”

John Bel Edwards had told Trump he is welcome to come to Louisiana to volunteer or donate money, but he told him that he was not welcome to come for a photo op. They don’t have time for that crap.

I just saw him signing autographs on hats. Ugh…

  10. August 19, 2016 at 1:22 pm

As Gov Edwards said, photo op…

“Trump Tours Flood-Ravaged Louisiana But Thinks Climate Change Is A Hoax”

He talked to volunteers and victims, signed autographs, and left.

But Trump’s visit, coupled with his calls for sympathy for the victims of the flooding, is ironic, considering his denial of climate change, which is expected to increase the likelihood that devastating floods like the one in Louisiana will occur.

      GA SBG.

Don and others in TODville are right, Bernie and The Donald saw an opportunity to scam supporters of their hard-earned dollars.

Al Giordano’s tweet was posted here at TOD yesterday, and I read it after most of TODville had gone to bed, but this was a shock to me — 15% commission for direct mail solicitations and buying ads from media. Absolutely atrocious, and no doubt the commission went up after SCOTUS upheld Citizens United.

Here’s tweet with link to article:

      • August 19, 2016 at 3:52 pm

I read that article yesterday as well. IMO, Bernie’s campaign did not start out as a “revolution” but became one after he saw that he was able to attract crowds.

Given that he never filed his financial reports, purchasing a 600K vacation home, and now this with what was estimated to amount to ~12M in commissions, I would think that some of his more “savvy???” supporters would be angry about these things and would be very vocal in questioning it. I’m sure the personal finance reports and his taxes (which were never made public) might indicate some hypocrisy with regard to his revolution platform.

Making more of an impact without the photo op…

I just got off the phone with Governor John Bel Edwards of Louisiana.

The flooding there is more extensive than anyone expected — more than 40,000 homes have been damaged and more than 100,000 people have been affected.

My heart breaks for Louisiana, and right now, the relief effort can’t afford any distractions. The very best way this team can help is to make sure Louisianans have the resources they need.

There are two organizations the governor asked that we help. Chip in right now to the Red Cross, which is doing critical work to provide medical assistance and supplies to the victims of this natural disaster. You can also donate right now to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, a local organization that’s directing money to community non-profits that need it.

These are our friends, our family members, our community — and they’re counting on us to reach out with open arms right now. This team has done so much for me. Now I’m asking you to show that same support to the victims in Louisiana, so that we can begin to rebuild together:

Donate to the Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation

    Donate to BRAF: https://www.classy.org/events/louisiana-flood-relief-fund/e91206

    Thanks so much,

      • August 19, 2016 at 5:36 pm

*Conservative* “watchdog” organization…they make use of the Freedom of Information Act and litigation to investigate perceived misconduct by government/political/judicial officials.

I guess all the investigations that have taken place have not been satisfactory to them.

These are the people who sued the Obama Administration to get access to the White House visitor’s log.

Since HRC is no longer a government employee why is she being demanded to by a judge to answer questions when it was already investigated by the Federal Government. That would be like ACLU suing Bush/Cheney and having them answer for lies about WMD’s. What would be the point?

My question to the stupid ass media, do the people want the help or do they want the President showing up? I am so amaze at the media trying to always trying to make something out of nothing. If my home was damage I would be more concern about how I can get help, instead of worrying if President Obama was going to show up.

It is like a who’s first contest with the press. Refraining and reporting reasons for waiting does not fit their purposes. Maybe no one can believe that their disaster is being taken seriously unless the President appears immediately to see it firsthand. Too bad the press does not report facts instead of stirring up controversy and ratings. Cable news that are on 24/7 have to fill their time and get good ratings. That drives the news rather than real facts. Going back to the days of 6 and 11 pm news might fit the meme Make America Great Again.

If we Don’t have these things with a 40yrs of GOP policies, Trump will ramp it up where we would all be slaves again since Bill-O the Clown thinks they all ate and lived better than we do today

Hi everyone. Hope someone can help with a problem I have or let me know if this happens to you also. I am on Twitter on my PC and I can only go so far and it tells me to go back up to the top of the page and I lose all the tweets that were down thread. Is there a setting I can use to be able to continue on reading without having to go back to the top and download more tweets? Just asking. 🙂

      GE Roberta.

Don’t have any device for hooking up the Internet except for Windows 10 PC (no smart phone, tablet, etc.), and Twitter lets me scroll to the next 20 twenty tweets by pressing the “End” key. Twitter has a limitation on the number of tweets it will let you scroll down to — don’t know the exact number, but I think I’ve successfully scrolled through at least 20 pages of 20 tweets per page (if that makes sense).

If I want to scroll up to subsequent tweets, I either use the scroll bar (on the right side of the screen) or press the “Page Up” key.

Does that not work for you?

        no doubt there is and in time we will know it all => secrets are not kept forever;

        additionally, there are reports citing threats to gov’t officials that if PBO’s administration denied the big insurance mergers (like they have done recently) then the bosses of the insurance companies would do whatever is in their power to sabotage ObamaCare;

unfortunately for them, abandoning ObamaCare is a loosing strategy in the end because as time goes on, more and more people will be joining the ObamaCare rolls

Wow! I’m watching PBS. Mark Shields and Jennifer Rubin. Yes, they both skewered Trump, then turned around and HUGELY focused on every tidbit and blew them up to huge proportions–emails, Clinton Foundation, blah, blah, blah. Now Mark Shields critized PO for not ” putting on a suit” and speaking to the American people and people of LA because after all, “he is consoler in chief.” My God, Mark Shields is the liberal there yet he sounded like someone on Fox. 😣😞😱😥😔😣😅😱
