Dear Nerdy, I see that you’re doing everything in your power to drown out the hate and ugliness of the Orange One and his party with these glorious images of love and beauty. We are all of us extremely grateful.

      Congrats jackie

When I see these photos I always remember the story of JFK saying “I’m the man who accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris”

I often think PBO would like to say – “I’m the man who accompanied Michelle Obama to the White House”

I totally agree Jackie. It warms my heart and soul to see pictures like this!

Today my FB announcements told me it was Donna Dem’s birthday, so I’m wishing this dear lady and Democratic warrior the very best of birthdays and a year when all of her wishes (especially on November 8) come true.

I used to like Clint Eastwood movies he acted in produced and directed. Ever since the GOP Convention in 2012 when he talked to the chair I have not looked at him the same. What seemed weird about that was Clint had just done a commercial for a car company for the Super Bowl touting “We’re back!” It was almost like giving credit to PBO as he went against public opinion and expert advise to support the auto industry. Plus his movie concerning prejudice against the Hmong community seemed to send a message for understanding differences. I would not have guessed he was a GOP voter. More than disappointing.

One thing I learned from the young man who came as an Obama organizer in 2008. When some outrage happened in the news, I would ask him if he was upset about it. He told me that he could not afford to become distracted from the goal of electing Barack Obama. He kept his head down and kept working to glorious results. I find that thinking about the crazy one dissipates my energy and distracts me from the work that needs to be done. Figure out what you can do to reach the greatest possible numbers of voters and work on it every day. The best revenge is an overwhelming victory.

I have learned so many important, lasting, and heartening things through the Obama campaign. I sometimes think a day doesn’t go by that I don’t use something I learned as a volunteer. I still keep up with the core of people I got to know in my state and remember with blessings the wonderful interns and staffers, the young people from far and wide, that crossed my path and left me with so much respect and hope. I am so grateful to have been a part of that through two elections and to use that training and experience now to keep moving forward. Respect, empower, include, no drama, have fun, win. That says it all.

    Awesome Tweets from the Legend…NW…..

GM TOD …keep in mind that although you will not hear about it from our media…there is fierce organizing going on the ground

here in PA and else where….Hillary and others are involved in a campaign called:

Vote Local….from the State House to the White House…Turn America Blue….

Hillary opened an office yesterday here in Abington (just outside of Philadelphia)…it was standing room only…the crowd spilled from the office into the street…my daughter and granddaughter were part of this enthusiastic crowd…

Lopsided Housing Rebound Leaves Millions of People Out in the Cold

The housing recovery that began in 2012 has lifted the overall market but left behind a broad swath of the middle class, threatening to create a generation of permanent renters and sowing economic anxiety and frustration for millions of Americans.

Home prices rose in 83% of the nation’s 178 major real-estate markets in the second quarter, according to figures released Wednesday by the National Association of Realtors. Overall prices are now just 2% below the peak reached in July 2006, according to S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices.

But most of the price gains, economists said, stem from a lack of fresh supply rather than a surge of buyers. The pace of new home construction remains at levels typically associated with recessions, while the homeownership rate in the second quarter was at its lowest point since the Census Bureau began tracking quarterly data in 1965 and the share of first-time home purchases remains mired near three-decade lows.

The lopsided recovery has shut out millions of aspiring homeowners who have been forced to rent because of damaged credit, swelling student loans, tough credit standards and a dearth of affordable homes, economists said.

In all, some 200,000 to 300,000 fewer U.S. households are purchasing a new home each year than would during normal market conditions, estimates Ken Rosen, chairman of the Fisher Center of Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California at Berkeley.

“I don’t think we are in a normal housing market,” said Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the National Association of Realtors. “The losers are clearly the rising rental population that isn’t able to participate in this housing equity appreciation. They are missing out on [a big] source of middle-class wealth.”

New Duke of Westminster Is Youngest Among World’s 400 Richest

Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor, who became the 7th Duke of Westminster after the sudden death of his father Tuesday, joins the Bloomberg Billionaires Index today as his inheritance makes him the youngest billionaire among the world’s 400 richest people.

As duke, the 25-year-old now heads his family’s $12.3 billion estate, which includes hundreds of acres in London’s Belgravia and Mayfair neighborhoods, country homes, and Grosvenor Group, the London-based real estate firm with assets under management of 13 billion pounds ($19 billion) at the end of 2015.

“The Grosvenor Estate is subject to a 1933 Act of Parliament, the Grosvenor Estate Act, which effectively restricts inheritance to the male line,” said Marilyn McKeever, a London-based lawyer at Berwin Leighton Paisner.

The real GOP Crime Bosses are NOT opening their checkbooks for Ferret Head:

    Trump Has a SuperPAC Problem
So far, pro-Clinton outside groups have out-fundraised pro-Trump PACs by more than 10 to 1.

    by Anne Kim
    August 10, 2016 1:46 PM

In perhaps another indicator of flagging enthusiasm for Donald Trump, outside groups have raised just $9.7 million so far in support of the GOP presidential nominee. In sharp contrast, outside groups have collected more than $110 million on behalf of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Great America PAC, the largest of the pro-Trump PACs, reported raising $5,073,027 as of July 21. But its war chest is dwarfed by both the largest anti-Trump SuperPAC, Our Principles, which has amassed $19 million; and by Priorities USA Action, the largest pro-Clinton PAC, which reported funds of $100,040,923.

GM TOD, and a very happy birthday to Donna Dem. May you have many, many more dear lady.

And congrats to jackieg on first!

Hello everyone. Last night I attended my training for the local data team for campaign HRC. I found I simply cannot do phone banking, so I was thrilled to find a way to support the campaign that worked for me. They are ramping up a big operation here to support the rest of the states with tough races. And some of us will be traveling to other states as well. I have one friend who will be in Nevada for all of October. It feels really good to finally be doing something constructive for this race to offset all the negative crap flying around the media waves.

So check in at your local campaign headquarters, people, and see how you can help to make Hillary our next president. Besides, when you keep busy there is no time to focus on all the MSM garbage out there. 🙂

I make calls and do data input, but the majority of people who come to our events just make the calls and 2-3 of us input the call results. You will have a great time, be greatly encouraged and meet some wonderful people.

Good morning all. Thank you NW for the beautiful picture at the top…..the caption says it all. I have great confidence that this fall’s elections are going to be wonderful. It is the same inner feeling I had in 2008, the result of hard work. How often has PBO told everyone that this is how good things happen!

With what is going on, I am reminded of poetry. You can’t teach literature for 30 years and not be reminded of poetry with world events. The poem that came to mind is not a cheerful one, but I think explains what has happened with our politics these past years, something the MSM has never acknowledged, and are only now grudgingly talking about.

The poem is The Second Coming by W.B. Yeats, written in 1919 after World War I, during the Irish troubles, presaging World War II. How often poets see more clearly than others…..i.e. our own JBG.

    A few lines:
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

Poetically, this says what the Republican party allowed to happen, and what we see today as the result. However, this is not the end game. I believe the best are now gaining that passionate intensity to change the trajectory. The center must hold. It has ever been thus, and still is.

When the extremes are allowed to control, we know what happens. The Republicans have stoked this fire, they and they alone are responsible for the conditions now. This is not a both sides do it situation, as we know. However, I don’t think they are ever going to take responsibility so, as many have said, they MUST be drowned this fall. I have no idea what will rise from the mud, but they must be drowned.

Just finished watching the link JER posted at the bottom of the previous thread of NANCY SMASH and several other Congress persons HAMMERING the Republican obstruction in Congress and their refusal to come back to DC and do some work on the critical issues in our country, Zika, opiods, Flint water, gun violence. Plus they are hammering Trump on some of his comments. So wonderful to listen to their wise and informative discussion. BTW it starts about 7 minutes in. I hope JER can bring this link over so you all can watch it, and I hope the link is something I can send to others or post to FB, etc., so others around the country can see it. SPEAK THE TRUTH NANCY SMASH!! “Mr Speaker bring the Congress back. Honor our responsibilities to the American people. Get the job done!” (60min)
