After the semis Lilly King had something to say about the 2-time Russian doper favored to win and was only cleared to swim Saturday:

“Before the women’s 100-meter breaststroke final began on Monday night, the two top medal contenders, American Lilly King and Russian Yulia Efimova, waited together in the ready room. Efimova sat in a chair, while King paced back and forth. Neither woman acknowledged the other. Neither said a word. Shortly thereafter, with her gold medal secured and a new Olympic record in hand, the outspoken King had lots to say about doping and swimming and the importance of competing clean. She made no direct mention of her Russian rival. She didn’t need to….

…The rivalry between King and Efimova has been one of the biggest storylines of these young Olympics. It started on Sunday night, when Efimova, who had initially been banned from these Olympics for doping before winning a last-minute reprieve, won her heat in the breaststroke and celebrated by wagging her finger in a victorious manner. King, who was waiting to swim in the next heat, wagged her own finger back at the television on which she was watching Efimova’s celebration. The Russian, you see, has twice tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Speaking to Michele Tafoya after her own heat concluded, King justified her response: “You’re shaking your finger No. 1, and you’ve been caught for drug cheating—I’m just not a fan….continued”

She’s doing great in those, too: way up in PA, VA is a lock. Good in OH but it’s close (but the polling isn’t recent). Pulling ahead in NV. I think she’s ahead in FL, but she’ll win FL. And she’s opening up other possibilities (but I don’t have my hope up): GA, AZ. She’s actually spending money in those states and funding more organizers. That being said, Dems are great for saying the race is over. This race is FAR from over. Polls will tighten which will spell DOOM! for HRC. Just listen to the idiotic talking heads.

      • August 9, 2016 at 3:43 pm

With margins like these, it could very well mean the House flipping to democrats. However, two and a half months is an eternity in a presidential campaign. People like Jon Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer believe it will tighten a bit, and end with a margin of no more than 5, 6 %. I prefer not to get my hopes up, and be pleasantly surprised…

        We’ll see !!!…

This is a really beautiful message. Please RT!!

  17. August 9, 2016 at 11:13 am

Which is why it’s worth pointing out that right now, something has mattered. If the election were held today, according to FiveThirtyEight’s analysis of the public polls, Hillary Clinton would win in an electoral landslide, potentially carrying states such as Arizona and Georgia — places no Democratic presidential candidate has won in decades. Again, the final tally could be much closer, but we should remember that Trump’s current predicament is not the result of any one gaffe or misstep or string of bad luck — it’s the result of an actual campaign that Hillary’s running very well and Trump is running very poorly. I’m convinced that if Donald Trump and his entire staff were replaced tomorrow with a drunken Fox News viewer chosen at random, that person would probably run a better campaign. It’s a level of ineptitude that relieves me as a citizen, but offends me as a political professional.

If you’ve ever traveled to Big Sur, you know it’s one of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world. This is truly heartbreaking.

One of my closest friends has a brother who works on a ranch in that area. He’s just on the edge of the fire area and all the local ranchers have brought their horses to him for safekeeping. The air is hard to breathe but they refuse to leave with so many animals in danger.

The dates and venues selected by the commission’s nonpartisan board were announced last September, and the format of each 90-minute debate has already been set. But the Republican nominee noted that he had haggled with television networks over the terms of debates held during the GOP primary and might do so again.

Trump said he reserved the right to object to the commission’s choice of moderators, which have not yet been announced.

      • August 10, 2016 at 7:50 am

Still won’t help him. He thinks he’ll have the same leverage that he had during the Republican primaries. If/when he doesn’t get his way and pouts and says he’s not going to play, unlike the concessions in the primary, he’ll just look like the child he is.

The entertainment phase is over. People want to see a serious candidate.

TALLAHASSEE — In his fight against the Zika virus, Gov. Rick Scott’s strongest allies are county mosquito control boards, the “boots on the ground” stretching from Key West to Pasco County to Panama City.

But Scott once targeted them for possible extinction, calling the local mosquito fighters a major “tax burden” of dubious benefit to taxpayers.

The shift in philosophy shows the evolution of a leader who rode to power on a wave of tea party revulsion of government and then learned the details of governing on the fly.

Trump Agrees To Three Debates—But He Wants To See The Conditions First
    By ESME CRIBB
    Published AUGUST 9, 2016, 2:01 PM EDT
Donald Trump said Tuesday that he will “absolutely” commit to three presidential debates with Hillary Clinton, but he suggested that he’d try to renegotiate the terms first.

“I will absolutely do three debates,” Trump said in a phone interview with Time. “I want to debate very badly. But I have to see the conditions.”

He went on to imply that he may try to change the terms of the debates.

“I renegotiated the debates in the primaries, remember? They were making a fortune on them and they had us in for three and a half hours and I said that’s ridiculous,” Trump said.

During the Republican primaries, Trump planned to skip two debates, although the second debate he planned to skip was ultimately canceled.

Trump said he also reserved the right to object to the Commission on Presidential Debates’ choice of moderators, telling Time that “certain moderators would be unacceptable, absolutely.”

    • 73 Betsy
      August 9, 2016 at 3:09 pm

Of course he would object to any moderator that he deems “liberal” although all of them will likely go after Hillary and be soft on Trump. We know this and I imagine she does too.

    • 74 jacquelineoboomer
      August 9, 2016 at 5:33 pm

The only “terms” Donald Trump should be given at the debates are to answer the hard questions for the voting public, without notes, on the spot. He doesn’t get to set the rules – other than how air conditioned the room must be, and what brand of cold water should be in his glass.

Chuck Todd asked Susan Collins if she that Trump was inciting violence with that statement. She said no. She thought he meant that 2nd Amendment persons could come together in some way to sway the Senate to their way of thinking.

That was the campaign reply so they quickly got their talking points out. Obvious they do not all think the same thing.

          • August 9, 2016 at 7:39 pm

Yes, apparently that was the rapid response from the campaign. Unfortunately, it doesn’t address what Trump said…he was not talking about what they could do to keep her from being elected — and it definitely wasn’t something as tame as organizing; he was talking about AFTER she is elected.

      • August 9, 2016 at 5:40 pm

Former CIA director Gen. Michael Hayden says if anyone else had made a similar comment that Donald Trump did about the “Second Amendment people” stopping Hillary Clinton, they would be questioned by the Secret Service.
