Way to go, Texas. This is not end well.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2016/08/01/texas-is-now-a-campus-carry-state.html?via=desktop&source=copyurl

Texas is now the eighth state to allow campus carry. Starting Monday, the lone star state’s campus carry law goes into effect, allowing anyone who is 21 years old to carry firearms on campus and in university buildings if they have a concealed handgun license.

Great, some student with a side iron gets a bad grade and then goes and confronts a professor.

Yes…not just a bad grade, but college discussions can often get deep and passionate. If someone doesn’t think that others should feel the way they do…well, not good. I truly worry about this.

Morning … Kate Bolan on CNN ripped into Trump idiot Scottie Nell Hughes (when asked about Trump’s Russia / Crimea comment)… it’s time someone did! Can’t stand that woman.

Poll: Millennials Go for Clinton; Trump Can’t Buy an Older Minority Vote
    FAWN JOHNSON | JULY 21, 2016
CLEVELAND — Hillary Clinton is a grandma who is subjected to ridicule for her clothing and even her figure, judging by the street vendors hawking wares here at the Republican National Convention.

But that’s not fazing younger voters, according to national poll results from Morning Consult.

The Democratic presidential nominee has a sizable lead over Donald Trump among voters younger than 45, according to 23,347 interviews of registered voters conducted through June and the first two weeks of July. Clinton leads Trump by 17 percentage points, 47 percent to 30 percent, among voters aged 18 to 29. She leads by 10 points, 46 percent to 36 percent, among voters aged 30 to 44.

    …………..

Among white voters 45 and older, Trump leads Clinton handily. White respondents over 65 pick Trump over Clinton 50 percent to 34 percent, with similar margins for white voters age 45 to 64, 48 percent to 34 percent. Gen-X white voters (age 35 to 44) still opt for Trump, but the margins are tighter at 44 percent to 39 percent. Among white voters under 35, Clinton leads Trump by 2 percentage points, 40 percent to 38 percent.

People, the chances of this happening are very slim. See this info from US Electoral College website:

“The District of Columbia and 48 states have a winner-takes-all rule for the Electoral College. In these States, whichever candidate receives a majority of the popular vote, or a plurality of the popular vote (less than 50 percent but more than any other candidate), takes all of the state’s Electoral votes.”

Only Maine and Nebraska follow a proportional rule re electoral votes. So Stein can get as many votes as she can try to get. Trump too. But if Hillary gets 1 more vote than both of them in each of these 48 states then she will get all that state’s electoral votes.

    • August 1, 2016 at 1:53 pm

is that the electoral vote…or the electoral college…are they speaking about the popular vote??

    • August 1, 2016 at 2:04 pm

The Twelfth Amendment provides for what happens if the Electoral College fails to elect a president or vice president. If no candidate receives a majority for president, then the House of Representatives will select the president, with each state delegation (instead of each representative) having only one vote. If no candidate receives a majority for vice president, then the Senate will select the vice president, with each senator having one vote. On four occasions, most recently in 2000, the Electoral College system has resulted in the election of a candidate who did not receive the most popular votes in the election.[6][7].

That is correct, pf. This would happen if one candidate did not receive 270 Electoral Votes, thus the reason for our focusing on that number in every election.

Since 48 states are winner takes all of the Electoral Votes of that state, even if Stein got 10% of the votes of all the states she would not receive 1 Electoral Vote except for possibly Nebraska or Maine which have proportional voting.

This is why it is VERY important to pay close, close attention any time you hear of anyone wanting to change the Electoral College system in any way.

It is the Electoral College that determines the winner, not the popular vote. I made a list of each state, their electoral votes, which states are always, Rep, which always Dem, which are swing states. The always Repub. states total 191 electoral votes. The always Dem. states total 237 electoral votes. The Repubs are short 79, & the Dems are short 33 electoral votes to win the election. Thus the focus on swing states: Florida 29 votes, OH 18, NC 15, VA 13, WI 10, CO 9, IA 6, NV 6, NH 4.

That said, we need to GOTV in numbers never seen before! Rest assured that the racist hateful bigots will vote in numbers…they are PROUD of this candidate! To ignore that and think we are able to slide into the WH would be a huge mistake….a democracy ending, terrifying mistake. Do not let poll numbers determine what you do or don’t do. Go vote, register others to vote and get these people to the polls on election day. Without fail.

Thanks for this comment df. In an above comment I wrote about electoral votes, and I know that people look at what I wrote and say, “See, it will be easy to win in November.” WRONG. Things are so strange these days re presidential, and all elections. Trump and BS have awakened things we have never seen before in people. We cannot sleep, We cannot even rest. We cannot trust the past habits of people. We must cover our bases, our asses and everything else and work, work, work to get out the vote, register, get people to the polls. We can sleep in 100 days people!!

In 2008 then DEM-nominee Senator Barack Obama said secretly Republicans said they were voting for him instead of McCrazy/$illy Palin because she was no different than Drumpf saying crazy stuff. He is 1000% worst than Palin but he has the full backing of the GOP. At least there are MORE publically coming out against him, changing their registration.
