Always love Pete Souza’s photos. He has done an absolutely masterful job documenting this presidency. Nice recall of some of those early days. A favorite for me is the Q&A session he had with the House Repugs 1/27/2009. Still makes me smile to remember how he shut them down with such smarts and such class

Short term profits, if you ask me. If the drug is that high priced, very few will be able to afford it. So, very few to no sales. One of the things I learned a long time ago, when in the restaurant business, was it is far more profitable to have a medium priced menu and to turn the restaurant multiple times each night than to have a high priced menu and very few diners.

Dudette, I would also add a willingness to embrace self-delusion. On FB, someone said that despite the evidence of the video of Trump making fun of an handicapped reporter, she did not believe it. There are people who lie to us, she said, and that video had to be ‘doctored.’ If you refuse to see and hear anything that contradicts your preconceived notions, you have chosen to live in a fact-free world and are literally beyond reason.

      GM Dudette.

MSM and GOP have made the bed we Americans are now living in.

Watched some of the GOP debates last year (while doing other things, not riveted to every word), and could not believe that this was a Presidential debate — yet MSM and GOP treated those abominations as if it’s “just politics,” something that’s to be expected.

      From the article:
“In an article for The Daily Beast, Fields noted that the word ‘kill’ was used 53 times during the December 15 Republican primary debate. This language was not used at all during previous GOP debates.”

MSM is largely responsible for the absolute mess that GOP has inflicted on Americans.

I was watching Rev. Sharpton this morning and he was talking about Bill O’Reilly’s comment about what First Lady Michelle Obama said in her DNC speech were she said every morning she wakes up in a house built by slaves. O’Reilly comment were the slaves were fed well and dress well. Well Rev, Sharpton mention a letter from Abigail Adams were she wrote to a friend of hers and in that letter the First Lady Adams said that the slaves were not fed or clothes well as O’Reilly tried to convince us. Not that it makes one bit of a difference, because they still were slaves regardless what they ate or wore. People like O’Reilly and his Fox audience want to push the thought that slavery weren’t so bad, they had work, roof over there head, food to eat. Who cares if you were own by white people who could do what they wanted to do with you.Who cares!

Bella, I would love for O’Reilly, a privileged white multi-millionaire, to live for one day as a slave, stripped of all dignity and treated without humanity. I would like to see him in ragged clothes, freezing in the winter and forced to starve on limited rations. I would like to have people spit on him and put chains on his legs. Then he cancome back and tell us how good slaves had it.

And your comment above about refusing to see or hear anything that contradicts your preconceived notions definitely applies to people like O’Reilly. Still, I would love to see this happen and to have it televised.

Late response, but here’s the proof.

Roger Ailes, aside from being the last person on earth any sane woman would want to work for, made it acceptable for his talking heads to lie with no consequences, something both GOP and MSM have gleefully embraced as their own standard:

After enduring the Republican side eye and vandalism at our Dem booth in a majority R county, it was a revelation and a joy to be among the LGBT crowd at at Central Pa’s Gay Pride Festival. There are Dems and then there are enthusiastic Dems, and we saw lots and lots of enthusiasm for Hillary! Everyone wanted Hillary materials, were already registered and ready to vote and volunteer. Despite the fatigue and torrential downpour, it was energizing to see such enthusiasm and to feel how strengthening and liberating diversity is. If everybody who has been dismissed or marginalized by the hateful Trump/GOP rhetoric would rise up in big numbers on November 8, we will not only win, but we’ll crush the hate and bigotry so that it doesn’t dare rise again.

Yah, the polls historically widen after the conventions then tighten up again after a couple of weeks past them. Reading David Frum’s article in The Atlantic was scary. It aligned with the guy interviewed on NPR this morning with no matter what facts are given he is voting Republican. Seems to be a male macho thing which warns of other cultural males going in that direction too. Keep working harder and forget about the polls.

Donald Trump said I had nothing to say. I do. My son Humayun Khan, an Army captain, died 12 years ago in Iraq. He loved America, where we moved when he was 2 years old. These are unsettling times that require a steady hand: That’s not Donald Trump.
Houston Chronicle Editorial Board endorses Hillary Clinton

On Nov. 8, 2016, the American people will decide between two presidential contenders who represent the starkest political choice in living memory. They will choose between one candidate with vast experience and a lifelong dedication to public service and another totally lacking in qualifications to be president. They will decide whether they prefer someone deeply familiar with the issues that are important to this nation or a person whose paper-thin, bumper-sticker proposals would be dangerous to the nation and the world if somehow they were enacted.

This entire thing is stupifying. He has no idea about the world and what is going on in it. He has no idea of protocol, or the fact that things happen whether or not he “approves of them” or had a part in them. This man is so unfit and unqualified to be President of the US….or even president of the damn garden club of greater NYC. He’s a self absorbed, clueless, classless idiot. If any of you reading this have a Republican senator or Rep up for re election this year, as I do, I suggest that you call them and DEMAND to know after this statement, and the statements made to the Khan family, if they still support this idiot for President. Ask them, and make the Dem organization in your neck of the woods know. This needs to stop right now. He’s a danger. If they insist on supporting this dangerous man, then THEY are dangerous as well and have no good judgment. We need to vote for Dems all up and down the ticket. They can figure out how to redo their rotten party on their own time. Not ours.

Why ‘white trash’ Americans are flocking to Donald Trump
    Kyle Smith

…Mapping the politics of Vance’s clannish, resentful neighbors is challenging, even exasperating. Hillbillies pride themselves on distinguishing the deserving poor from the lazy moochers, but Vance points out that it’s a fuzzy line. His grandmother would lash out at the government for doing too much, then for doing too little. She’d ask why society could afford aircraft carriers but not enough drug-rehab centers. She’d complain that the rich weren’t paying their fair share. But she and J.D. would be just as angry at people who paid for T-bone steaks with food stamps and hated the idea of the government using Section 8 housing vouchers so that poor people could move in next door — poor people “like us,” Vance says. She’d say people wouldn’t have so many problems if they were forced to work for their benefit checks.

Masterful politicians, and effective agents of change, tend to succeed by singling out, and making salient, some aspect of a nation’s self-understanding, sparking a sense of recognition — and ultimately moving voters in their favor. Obama made it into an art form. Hillary Clinton is no artist, but her electoral prospects may well depend on whether she manages to steal some of his distinctive thunder.”

I was online looking up differences of types of liars yesterday and came away thinking there are generally two classifications 1-Sociopaths 2- Pathological and other names that seem synonymous with it such as Compulsive etc.
I could be missing important info as I am no expert on the topic.
The general difference I gleaned from the articles is a sociopath uses lies manipulatively to meet a goal with no remorse while a pathological liar has begun as a bad habit to get attention or avoid blame, feel important, to create drama with lies changing as needed. I was having a hard time deciding which category Donald actually fit into since it feels like he both purposely lies for results given his manipulation of voters and crooked business deals and for feeling important and creating drama in his craving tv attention and just saying anything whether it furthers his goal or not. Maybe he is both a pathological and sociopathic liar.
