Good morning after that exciting night! FLOTUS was even more amazing than she usually is……Wow! Love her so much. I also watched Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren. Had never seen or heard Booker before, and was impressed. Glad to see up and coming Democrats. Was underwhelmed by Warren….okay, but not overwhelming. However, after that messy beginning, they brought it to a magnificent evening. I predict good things for Rep. Joe Kennedy……the other speakers were positive, and showed heart and soul. So proud.

    Did not watch Bernie.

We had a terrific rain and thunderstorm last night. Today will be cooler. Hope the rest of you get some heat relief.

And isn’t this the supreme irony, meta? This idiot has worked up his ‘devotees’ for over a year with tales of cheating on the part of Hillary and the DNC , fed the beast of rage and resentment, spun wild tales about his chances to win the presidency and now when the chickens come home to roost in his backyard, he turns tail and runs. I remember during the 2008 convention there was a video introducing Michelle that featured a co-worker who said, “I can’t wait until the rest of the world understands and appreciates the Michelle Obama I know”. Well, now the whole world knows and we are blown away by this amazing, brilliant, charismatic woman who is tough, resilient, caring and absolutely beautiful. She can make you smile and cry and think and respond deeply to her just by standing there, but when she speaks, we are hers. That two such magnificent souls as Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson found each other is one of the history’s great moments of serendipity. She may physically leave the White House on January 20, but the her presence and influence will be permanently imprinted on that institution and in our hearts.

Pete Souza could educate this knucklehead, but I’m sure he wouldn’t waste his time on her. She grossly underestimates the intelligence of our FLOTUS and our presidential nominee.

That must be a Fox meme right now cuz my GOP walking partner told me this morning she thought Michelle and Hillary couldn’t stand each other. I had honestly never heard that from anyone ever before. These divisive cretins just can’t help themselves. They don’t have a moral compass, they have no good ideas except how to pit people against one another. That’s all they’ve got. I loved Michelle’s reminder and what her husband says every damn time something bad happens, in a crisis we don’t turn on each other. We listen to each other, we help one another. Also I loved when she mentioned that in Dallas both the police and the protesters were desperately trying to keep our kids safe. I love this woman.

They probably sat on their fannies in the between year elections so that’s how we got here with the Tea Party, etc. Maybe some decent people will find a home in the Democratic party. I did in 2008. I fancied myself an independent until I heard President Obama speak. Love at first sight. I didn’t even pay attention before that. Now almost eight years later with years of working as a volunteer under my belt I know it can change you. Being introduced to someone that amazing, that truthful, that generous of spirit. It can utterly change you for the better and it doesn’t ever go back the way it was. You are convinced and committed for life.

I will never ever understand Bernie Sanders’ rise to power. No record of achievement, no history of working with anyone effectively, no outcomes, no concrete lasting legislation. He comes from a small white state. He is perpetually angry, hostile and scolding. He snubs Blacks, Latinos and takes on the filthiest of surrogates. He denigrates the Democratic Party every chance he gets and has never truly and sincerely respected PBO. He gets up in front of the DNC and undermines TPP. He shouts his speeches and wags his finger. He’s rude and obnoxious. Not a gracious bone in his body, he cannot accept defeat.

Good Morning TOD! Good Morning Nerdy!

Today I am in a fantastic mood!

I feel like yesterday was a turning point because of two events:

Sarah Silverman calling out the Bernie or Busters with “You’re being ridiculous” was like the “At long last, have you no sense of decency, Sir?” moment of the Bernie Bros season (I’m not old enough to remember the McCarthy hearings, but I know my history 🙂 ) Those little wanna be emperors are looking mighty naked now.

First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech. After she spoke I felt like this about all of the bullshit from both the DTers and the BorBers:

It’s Hillary Clinton’s convention, and it was Mr. Sanders’s big night. But the unquestioned star of the program on Monday was Mrs. Obama, who used her prime-time speech to describe an optimistic, confident view of American social progress, and to embrace Mrs. Clinton as the natural heir to the Obama presidency.

She praised Mrs. Clinton as a big-hearted public servant and as a political survivor, and rebuked Donald J. Trump as a bully without mentioning his name. Most important, Mrs. Obama wrapped her speech in a sunny narrative about what the country has accomplished during her husband’s presidency, celebrating the image of a black family in the White House and casting Mrs. Clinton’s election as a similar milestone.

“Don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great,” Mrs. Obama said. “This, right now, is the greatest country on earth.”

It was a strikingly positive speech in a bitter election season, and a vivid rendition of the political worldview that lifted the Obamas to the top of the party in the first place. The powerful response Mrs. Obama drew from the crowd showed just how formidable she is likely to be on the campaign trail.

On March 10, 2015, President Obama announced his TechHire initiative, a new campaign to expand local tech sectors by building tech talent pipelines in communities across the country. That announcement included three main components: (1) More than 20 communities with over 300 employer partners signed on to pilot accelerated training strategies; (2) large private-sector companies and national organizations committed to providing tools to support these TechHire communities; and (3) the President pledged $100 million in federal grant funding.

Today, the number of TechHire communities has more than doubled, to 50. If your community is interested to join the TechHire movement, please scroll down for more information on the TechHire initiative and how to get involved.

yeah, nope. I’ll never get there. Nice people (as he says of Trump’s kids) aren’t bigots. They may have the capability to be nice- to like minded folks, family, buds.. but nice/ good people are not bigots. I don’t love them. I wouldn’t harm them and if I was in a position to save their life or help them I would naturally do that for them or any human or animal. Good on Cory for being able to say this.

      • 106 carolyn
        July 26, 2016 at 11:03 am

Cory was following what Michelle said last night: “When they go low, we go high.” I’m with you. I couldn’t say that about Trump, but I feel a strong church training in what he said. At the end of our pastor’s benediction every Sunday he closes with……”And love one another, EVERY SINGLE OTHER.” And we the congregation join him on every single other. This is preached to us every Sunday, and it is hard, but necessary to be reminded. I cannot include Trump in my every single other…..but good for Cory.

But, notice the other part: “I will speak the truth about him.” People think that by “loving” you have to say only nice things, but love speaks in truth, and that’s what Cory was saying. People tend not to hear that part.

I heard up the thread that THE SUPREME LEADER had canceled appearances with his supporters this morning for fear of more raucous behavior, or maybe for his life as a sell-out to HRC. Oh, oh! The chickens are coming home to roost!

What was BS thinking when he kept on talking about a “revolution” against the “establishment”? Who is the establishment, anyway? A word made dirty by a man who has aged in the Senate?

What was he hoping for when he galvanized this know-nothing about political process, let alone the democratic nomination process, and told them that ALL SYSTEMS were rigged?

What did he want from those so-called independents who never paid a dime of attention to PBO’s causes and platform by telling them that HE (alone) COULD DEMAND RESULTS FROM CONGRESS?

After months and months of feeding exaggerated promises, easily-perfect days ahead, and magical reforms on the sound of his stump speech or voice to these young (mostly) white suburbanites (who were born with a remote control in one hand and an iPhone in the other), it is understandable that the Berniebros are furious at HRC, at the DNC, and at every Democrat that does not share their passion for exaggerated promises.

Truer words were never spoken. I also think these people, who deserve at least a part of their own wake up call for being entitled, were fed a bill of goods. Bernie has taken up residence in the establishment again as he always has. Sounds like Weaver is running for his next gig and its not the revolution. They stretched this out way too long. Told their supporters to take it to the floor of the convention. Then they dutifully spent their money to support him and to come as delegates and he had already abandoned the cause which was to pull a nomination out for himself and his followers. They were unfortunately trusting someone they should not have trusted and rejected the person they should find trustworthy. Happens all the time as we Obama supporters know all too well. Obama was ignored by these folks, or criticized and now they have all but missed this great time in our history and this extraordinary president.
