So good to have this place to come to when I am feeling down.
My oldest son just called me. He has been very busy at work as it is his busy season so I had not spoken to him for a couple weeks. He talked politics our whole phone call and had me thinking there is no way Clinton can win. He was a Bernie supporter, but intends to vote for Hillary as his fears involve Trump winning as do mine. Now I am really worried after his call. He thinks she is too unpopular and Trump is saying everything people want to hear. He knows how terrible he would be and thinks people do not care or believe it. They only want a big shakeup, a change. I think we need to really work hard to get her elected.
OG, here is an article to read. It was in a previous thread today. It is great info to be aware of so we don’t get too discouraged and so we know where to put most of our efforts for the election. And, yes, we must all work very hard to make sure Clinton-Kaine win on Nov 8th. Sweet dreams everyone. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of this campaign! Only 107 days until the election.
I think we all share your feelings, and the occasional freak-out ๐ It reminds me of when Robmey was so close in the polls– it was inconceivable to me that so many Americans would vote for that version of ‘leadership’. Thank Heaven, it turned out fine, and we have PBO still doing the good work! Every day with him as president is a blessing. In spite of the crazies, I do believe HRC will win, and the world will continue to turn in a positive direction. How wonderful to have a good conversation with your son! truth be told, it is going to be a hard fought campaign but if we all do our little part in our corner’s of the nation, we will see Sec HRC elected in a landslide;
there are somethings none of can control and that we have to put aside and pray for (if one is so inclined to pray);
but at the end of the day we have to remember that:
(a) there are more people in the Obama Coalition than in the gop;
(b) the elections are won one vote at time by a dedicated ground game => knocking on doors, sending post-cards, contributing money (if we can), calling people, talking to others who are either disillusioned or are not paying attention or not appreciating the consequences of voting the wrong way or not voting.
(c) if we commit to register or encourage at least 1 person per day, then in the next 90 days, each one of us will have multiplied their vote by 90 new or re-registering voters;
to achieve all this we must volunteer in each way we can. together we can and will get victory
You shouldn’t listen to pessimists, it’s bad for your health. If it’s any consolation the futures markets at Predictwise have Hillary at 70% likelihood of being victorious. People with money are betting on Hillary. And don’t forget, she has Barack and Michele Obama, Joe and Jill Biden on her side.

The hate and anger displayed in the #DemsInPhilly is unbelievable. These are the people who seem to lack critical thinking skills. They seem equate emails with the nominating process in which millions of people either voted or caucused for their preferred candidate. These DNC emails had no affect on the outcome of the nominating process. It appears most of them are Republicans with some Russian agents thrown in. We simply have to get out the vote. That’s our only job. During the DNC convention, let’s disempower them by not retweeting their hate, anger or their agitating for violence.

In fact, some emails from some staffers even said mean things about the boyfriend of the self-anointed protectors of all things liberal, and, get this – one conversation even talked about whether to use the Sanders campaign’s DNC data stealing operations early in the campaign against him, although that idea was eventually shot down due to express instructions from the Chair. And if that weren’t enough, one tinsy email talked about asking him about his religious beliefs (again, a fleeting thought that was never actually carried out).
