Thanks, Bob. This is one more reason why the worriers need to stop thinking of Kaine as a conservative Dem. He’s not and never has been.

      • July 23, 2016 at 8:03 am

        Correct, JackieG.

Senator Kaine is a progressive leader who has actually gotten stuff done … hard stuff in the midst of very harsh opposition …

Hope you have a fine day …

Congrats, Bobfr. Thanks for the truth-telling about Tim Kaine. I think we will warm to him as we did to Joe Biden. I hope Hillary’s administration, like President Obama’s, will be full of talented young women and men of color who will be leaders in the Democratic Party’s future.

One of many lasting legacies of PBO is that of showing elected officials and regular folks that you do not let a “no” stop you. Find a way out of seeming no way ( which is really the unofficial A-A mantra of how to survive, thrive, and stay alive); to be a creative problem solver and to keep going until the goal is met. So proud of this Dem. governor.

    June 7, 2016 (45 Minutes)

Life and Career of Senator Tim Kaine Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) was profiled as part of C-SPAN’s American Profile series. He talked about growing up in Kansas City, the time he spent in Honduras, his experiences in local and state government, his move to Richmond, and the possibility of a vice presidential with 2016 presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

I was thinking that Trump, being Trump, will do everything he can to try to diminish Hillary’s victory if/when she wins. He’s jackass enough to refuse to concede and to accuse her of cheating just to deny her a clean win and drag out the process, just like Bernie Sanders did in every state he lost. Does anyone know if a concession by the opposition is necessary to declare a presidential race over? I remember how long we waited for Romney to concede in 2012 and he’s like a paragon of good manners compared to Trump.

    • July 23, 2016 at 8:59 am

GM, jackieg. That’s a good question and smart of you to bring it up given who we’re dealing with here.
I don’t think it’s actually required but rather a common courtesy to wait for it before acknowledging your victory. It’s all about the electoral college.

Good morning, TOD! Jackie, I’ve thought about this too. Saw an article a few months back about how important that concession speech is in terms of bringing the country together to acknowledge the new president. Thought at the time, Trump will never do this. Given just how divisive the whole process has become, don’t know that it actually brings the country together in any way, shape or form but I do think we will again be in uncharted territory as I cannot imagine Trump giving a concession speech.

Most likely if Trump loses he will sue in some manner or create a reason the Supreme Court needs to view it minus Obama’s picks, of course.

    • July 23, 2016 at 11:02 am

In the short term, I’m concerned that Trump will do everything to grab news coverage next week, during the DNC. I hope the media doesn’t fall for it.

Do Hillary hate Sen. Warren like Ted Cruz hate Donald J. Trump? It wasn’t Sen. Warren who went on convention stage and refuse to endorse the candidate, telling voters to vote their conscious. Boy I need to sign up for tweeter.

Trump hasn’t got past calling people names Bella. Few adults carry bullying to the extremes like he does

He cannot understand that Sen Warren would be happy to support Hillary regardless as to who is the VP choice. He will need a major intervention when he loses in November.

Fabulous response. Pretty unbelievable the low level of discourse coming from the nominee of one of the two main political parties .

I think that many republican officials will vote for Hillary, in the secrecy of the voting booth. Trump is so unfit for the job and they know it.

hey, did you catch the little “jab” towards the end of the video?

by little “jab” I mean PBO smiling as he refers to Sen Warren as Elizabeth which I suspect was meant to send a message to those on the left who made so much noise when POTUS called her Elizabeth and said it was sexist.

note that in rest of the video PBO calls her Sen Warren

When I taught fifth grade there was a home suicide by one of my students. We were told it needed to be kept as low key as possible. Counselors came in to help our class, but we were not to do anything that would spotlight or glorify her due to fear of copycat behavior. At the time I was not so sure that that was the best advise, but as I see the news especially the 24 hour cable news go on for days broadcasting shootings and mass killings I see where the notoriety and copycat effect can create more negative situations from those craving attention. I also see how it can create a climate of fear so an incompetent person can worm their way into the WH.

    Movement 2016 dot org

There’s a new non-partisan website to help GOTV across the nation. movement2016dotorg begun by Billy Wimsatt, (Gamechanger Labs/youth GOTV efforts) and others to help answer the question, “Where can I donate to make the most difference in the upcoming election?” Be sure to read the great info on their “About Us” page. The focus? To move money to local on-the-ground groups working year-round to GOTV.

Click on any state to find groups to support. Each group has a description, area of focus, link to their website, donate button, and place for your comments. Multiple ways to donate. Love how I can be in California and find a group in a battleground state to help them GOTV in their community. Check them out!

“I need to hear specific objections to TPP.”

I agree, meta. I can’t accept being against TPP because you’re against trade agreements as principle. If there is a specific aspect that one disagrees with, then I would like to know what it is and why it is a problem.

I also find it hard to believe that HRC (and now TK), who are likely in constant communication with PBO, can’t be swayed by PBO that the “issue” that is in the agreement is not really an issue, or vice-versa; that a HRC is unable to convince PBO where there might be a problem…which I would think could then be resolved. That’s not to say they have to agree with each other on everything. I just would like to understand what it is that makes this a no go.

      • July 23, 2016 at 1:00 pm

The REAL problem is that “progressives” hate trade absolutely and went insane over TPP, which media was all too happy to amplify. Once labor got on the bandwagon, Dems were painted into a corner. HRC should have had the courage to stand up for it and explain why. Now even Kamala Harris is against it and CA would stand to benefit from it tremendously. It makes me NUTS.

        • July 23, 2016 at 1:09 pm

“Once labor got on the bandwagon, Dems were painted into a corner.”

If *this* is the reason that HRC and others are not standing up for TPP, then that is even more disturbing. It makes me wonder how much of the opposition is based on facts (what is actually in the agreement) versus assumption (based on prior trade agreements).

          • July 23, 2016 at 1:19 pm

That’s my concern, exactly. I trust PBO implicitly. I know he and Froman worked their hearts out on this for the best possible outcome. I haven’t heard specific objections delineated and I haven’t heard any specific alternative from anyone. So what’s the problem, exactly? To leave the most important issue of trade in limbo like this is unconscionable, especially if you’re promising to build the economy and jobs. So it reeks of politics to me.

I’m still hoping something can happen for a vote this year but who knows what Congress is up to???

Good points, Meta! TPP is the far left’s new demon since Keystone is dead. They are almost as bad as the right at fundraising on ginning up fear and loathing and opposing President Obama. UGH!

Judge orders Trump to pay nearly $300,000 in attorney’s fees for stiffing painting contractor

Instead of Donald Trump honoring the painting contract he signed and paying this local Miami business the remaining $34,863 balance he owed them, his company just took it upon itself to say that they had been “paid enough”.

The company slapped a lien on his Doral resort and that woke the old Trumpster up. Judge awards attorney’s fees totaling nearly $300,000. Trump still hasn’t paid the local painting business the remaining balance.

This is Trump’s track record in business and Hillary’s ad about Trump stiffing small businesses proves this guy loves stiffing the little guy.
