well this won’t be kosher… but personally am hoping she doesn’t pick an old(ish) white guy. Her 2008 primaries remind me that the “white vote/blue collar” vote is important to her. I like Tom Perez. I’m a life long democrat and will vote democrat, period.. but I am sick of old white males – VP Biden is the exception.

The good part is that all of the possible VP choices being bandied about for Hillary are nice, normal people, with brains. We may have favorites (Perez), but we won’t have to freakin’ PROSTITUTE OUR INTEGRITY to vote for any of them.

It’s the hardest department and the last time when she did a rotation there as a MD, she was pulling straight 48 to 72 hour shifts.

          • 102 vcprezofan2
            July 22, 2016 at 1:36 pm

Pursuing her dreams with hard work AND resolve – way to go, girl! So dad unit ought not to heighten the stress by sharing *his* wishes. Instead, your friend from the north suggests that dad makes himself available for drop off and pick up so the tired doctor has two less things to worry about. Hopefully, the shifts will be a bit more reasonable now that her status is higher.

As an aside, I never get why the medical profession which should know better give interns, etc such ‘unsafe’ shift hours!

I believe it’s the same world over. Overwork the interns. It’s nutz. As an MD, she at least had a hostel within the campus. Now, as a resident, it is a big ? I will talk to her dept head next week – hostel within the campus or no dice.

Good luck to both of you on her getting into the hostel or a place close to the hospital.

I just got a phone call from my granddaughter who is in NYC for a couple weeks then on to Munich to spend a month with her Aunt (my daughter) and her fiancé. My granddaughter called them to see if they were ok. I had been off Internet and tv so had not heard about it. I am going there in December for their wedding.

Okay, while admitting I do not know enough about the contenders, here’s my reservation re the suggestion of Elizabeth. I am totally averse to HRC choosing Warren, despite Warren’s ‘progressive’ creds! Here’s why:- IMO,

    > Warren is loud & too often abrasive
    > remembering her media attacks on PBO, *I* really do not trust her approach when she disagrees with you.
    > she seems to love attention just a little too much.
    > she may do a good job calling out DT on twitter; but engaging him in such a way is ‘infra dig’ for a VP. [IMHO]

In a similar manner I would cringe if HRC chose Booker, because I hated the way he responded re Romney & Bane in PBO’s re-election. Given the fact that I know Pres O to be a good listener, there was no reason they could not have made their point to him in-house, so to speak, and preserve party unity. I think they spoke out for attention and that bugged me. Booker too used to be a spotlight seeker, though we haven’t heard as much of him once he became senator. I’m uncomfortable with spotlight seekers. Just saying.

Spot on, vcprezofan2, Warren sometimes looks for a fight. I’m not saying that there’s something wrong with fighting, but there’s a time and a place for it, every battle can’t turn into a war. I think Booker can be lead around by the nose, he likes to placate rather than question, Booker reminds me of Harold Ford. Both of them go along to get along.

      • 147 vcprezofan2
        July 22, 2016 at 1:43 pm

‘every battle can’t [or shouldn’t] turn into a war’ – Exactly!

And IMO there’s a *way* to fight. PBO fights back all the time. LOUD confrontations are not usually my thing – n short, I do not like Warren’s way as displayed to date.

I hear you. I share your feelings, but like I stated previously or on a previous post, I will cheer, celebrate, honor whoever HRC chooses as her running mate, because it should matter to her first.

I remember how much we wanted to choose a running mate for PBO in 2008! Ultimately, he made his choice which proved to be a superb one.

We need a team that’s going to campaign to rally as many people as needed for a win in November, without stooping to the level of appealing to racists and bigots like the ex-KKK who admires Il Douche.

We need a ticket focused on addressing the needs of American people on security, job, forward progress and justice for all. We need a team who will address the for-profit prison disease that is killing us, the culture of violence heavily sustained by the easy availability of weapons of mass killing, lack of opportunities for inner city youth, and the inaccessibility of post HS education for many.

I will take whomever can work with our nominee to 1) win, and 2) make progress on the above fronts.

Yes, I know people here will support HRC’s choice, and that is as it should be. I agree with you that the choice is one HRC should be comfortable with. However, it is my hope that she also realizes that along with comfort, a partner who works WITH one, and not through the media, is ….a gift. Me, I put my reservations out into the universe at this point so they will evaporate *before* the actual choice is known.

Everybody has been telling us for the past week that it’s going to be Tim Kaine. If he really is the VP choice, then this would be the most incompetent roll-out of a VP ever. Why would Hillary allow everyone to announce her choice before she does? I’m still hoping for Perez or Castro.

      • 155 Obama Grandmama
        July 22, 2016 at 2:04 pm

I heard her say her #1 reason for a VP pick would be they would be ready on Day One to take over the Presidency. So I do not think she will choose Castro as his youth could raise questions in the ready category.

Tim Kaine is a good man. As I commented last night, he was the first sitting governor to endorse then Sen. Obama, in 2007. He speaks Spansih fluently. I think he would be an excellent VP choice. On top of that, Virginia has a Democratic Governor and if Hillary is elected, Sen. Kaine can be replaced by another Democrat. The same is not true with Elizabeth Warren and Corey Booker. They both have Republican Governors.
