Are you going to look around Sequim in the sunny spot? I lived in the coast a long time ago and rarely saw the sun. There isn’t a temperate rain forest on the Olympic Peninsula for no reason. 🙂 It is beautiful everywhere. Happy hunting!
Thanks, JF, the main areas we are checking are Port Townsend and Port Angeles. I’m actually quite happy with less sun than more sun. A friend of my daughter’s is driving, thankfully! He is scouting out possibility for his FIL, so may we all find what we seek! Same challenges as everywhere: low availability, and affordability. Many centers have 2+ year waitlists. Haven’t been out there for 25 years, so I guess we will see what we see!
Good Luck home-hunting MP. I have spent time in the Port Townsend/Angeles area. They have a cute downtown area and Jazz in the summer time. I will never forget my trip there one summer. It was so hot in mid July but STILL the Puget Sound water was ICE COLD! An ex-neighbor was from Sequim and she liked to tell the story about one summer her and her friends jumped into the Sound and she nearly caught pneumonia. I would love to retire one day in the area or in the Portland area. I have been watching the HGTV Tiny House shows and think I will buy a tiny house and some land then move to WA or OR.

I just checked out the BBC & their new cabinet – frightening in its RW bigotry. They say words that have no meaning or truth. This is not the country of my memory. Boris as foreign secretary (equivalent of US Secretary of State) is mind boggling.
Yes, there are other, smaller gun rights organizations, and yes, even gun owners don’t agree with all the positions the NRA takes. But their status as the legitimate political voice of gun owners has gone unquestioned. And now there are more reasons than ever for gun owners to start abandoning them.
The group has been on a long winning streak, not only stopping any gun control legislation from passing Congress, but successfully pushing for expanded gun privileges in state after state and seeing its membership expand. Each new high-profile mass shooting leads to a run on guns, as gullible gun owners buy the NRA’s Chicken Little warnings that the government is coming for your guns. Those boosted sales are great for the NRA’s patrons, the gun manufacturers. And nothing is better for the organization than having a Democratic president in office whom they can use as a villain to keep their membership afraid and enraged.
But something is changing. I’ve noted recently that Democrats are no longer afraid of the NRA in the way they were just a short time ago. The shooting in Orlando — which finally brought the issues of terrorism and the proliferation of military-style weapons together in the public mind — left the group at a loss for how to reconcile real-world tragedies with its insistence that we’d all be safer if there were more guns around. And now there’s this:

Cameron is a wealthy Tory arapaho & has been trying to dismantle the NHS (single payer health) for years. Believes in trickle down & most RW policies. Why he ever suggested and held the brexit vote was beyond stupid. At the minute he is still an MP – but will presumably resign at some time. I think PBO can find better people to work with him around the world. The UK seems to have decided to attack all its friends – so they will reap the consequences.
The last one shows how little Boris knows about the US President. It also highlights why the ex colonies would prefer ANYONE to a white expat leader. I am so pleased we got rid of the Brit fool that was our PM. Wish we could send him back where he came from.
