1st!
Don! First!
JO’B – Dear Heart, the poetic tribute you have written to The Girl From Baton Rouge, is beautifully done, deeply moving and inspired. Bless you and your gift, may it reach her quickly and work it’s magical soothing and strengthening healing on her heart, her Soul and ease her mind. Much love to you. ❤
Sorry, but love Michelle’s highlights here, and her dress! (I know very superficial of me in this dark moment), but it needs to be said. She’s the best FLOTUS of my lifetime and he’s not only now, but will always be the best POTUS of my lifetime.
Thanks Nerdy for posting. I look forward to hearing our Comforter-in-Chief’s remarks.
There is no reason for it, but I’m actually getting nervous as I wait.
I’m sitting in the chair next to you, same thoughts. Got a stream of consciousness in prayer throughout this entire day.
{{JO’B}}
Nothing against the spirit and intent of today’s and the President’s participation, of course … but as we wait I can’t help but think how poignant and meaningful it might be, if EACH AND EVERY city that suffered a police shooting of a black man or woman or child (for “capital crimes” like a burned-out traffic signal or selling a loose cigarette or walking home from a convenience store or brandishing a toy gun) had such a moving and televised NATIONAL memorial service and tribute for EACH family. Not to sound any more cynical than I already have, but too bad those would become so commonplace, not many would notice.
God bless you J’OB for expressing my pain and feelings right about now. I am sorry for the loss of life at the hands of the troubled sniper, but, I’m equally or more so troubled by the senseless deaths of the two young black men.
We can’t just mourn the cops and let the families of the two young men grieve by themselves. IT. AIN’T. RIGHT.
Hugs to you, GGail – God bless you, too!
I truly respect you Jacqueline for you don’t shy away from speaking out loud what is true and real.
Even if you feel that way, it’s doubly nice that you mention it. Means a lot.
❤
I say what I mean and I mean what I say
I gathered. 🙂 🙂
IT.AIN”T.RIGHT for sure. Thought the same thing.
Oh lord, now I’ve got a Teacher speaking bad English 😯 LOL!!!
Ha Ha. You expressed my sentiments PERFECTLY, damn the grammar!
{{{Betsy}}} LOL!
What is need for the young men…is Justice….not a memorial service…a change in the policing rules and laws that make it difficult to bring accountability ….what we need a change in the climate that sees black men as demons and less than human….
We need so much more than a memoriaservice…what we need Truth & Reconcilliation
Yes!
So tragic that President Obama has been thrust into the role of comforter in chief which he is so good at, but that Congressional NRA toadies refuse to listen and act to protect our public health and safety.
“You will not pit us against each other” — Hear that, Trump?
One Dallas. One America. One World.
Yes!
Joe Biden looks crushed. Not sure how many more of these memorials he can stand. Of course, the Irish in him expects them.
JOE WILL HAVE A HARD TIME RECOVERING AT ALL WHEN HE RETURNS TO THESE TRAGEDIES!
Agree. But he never shies away from the tough stuff!
That musical tribute – WOW!!!!
“Total Praise;” one of my favorites…
Tears would not stop for me while the choir sang “Total Praise”,jazziz2. That song is my life. I pray that the family members received a sweet measure of God’ grace. HZ
George W. Bush was born in New Haven, CT. They don’t have southern drawls in Connecticut. WTF!
Have Bush on mute. Cannot stand that face and voice.
He did well. I watched him today but never before when he held the WH hostage with wars.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS….MADE IT!
NOW FOR CHIEF BROWN!….:)
WE ASK TOO LITTLE OF OURSELVES………………….WE ALLOW POVERTY TO FESTER…………………PBO IS FIRED UP!
POTUS goes there???
HE’S RGHT ON IT…AMERICANS DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS OR THE ACTIONS OF OTHERS..IT’S CALLED ENABLING!
Our POTUS always goes *there* – to the heart of the problem.
WE NEED TO STAND UP FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS…WE NEED A NEW HEART..NOT A HEART OF STONE..YOU’VE GOT IT PBO! WE NEED OPEN HEARTS!
THE ONLY WAY TO DESTROY THIS COUNTRY..IS BROTHER AGAINST BROTHER! THAT’S WHAT EXTREMISTS WANT!
We are blessed by the presence and words of our President Obama.
WE CANNOT TAKE THE BLESSINGS OF THIS COUNTRY FOR GRANTED!
President Obama heard and understood me…”I see people who mourn for the officers we lost but also weep for the families of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.”
HOPE IS FOUND BY LIFTING OTHERS UP!
Thank you, my POTUS!
Dear Lord, please, please, please let this be a national turning point. A national straw that breaks the back of Congress? Please.
VC, prayer alone won’t do it. The American people have to VOTE for change.
Quite true, re ‘prayer alone’, GxG. That’s why I prayed that *this moment* (of coming together in Dallas with the bipartisan folks present AND the feelings shared and the awareness of lives lost and the fact that no one knows what triggers a resolution , and ….) will be the defining moment when U.S. voters will wake up, rise up, and make the US Congress do its job or be moved aside.
You get an Amen on this…”when U.S. voters will wake up, rise up, and make the US Congress do its job or be moved aside” ❤
Right ON!!!!
An extraordinary speech, both comforting and challenging, unifying without ignoring real pain and conflict. We have a truly extraordinary President, who has deep compassion and emotional intelligence, with a strong moral compass.
This!!!!
Co-sign.
Amen, Bill R.
THISSSSSSSSSS
Laura is looking concerned about George’s inability to stand still
I NOTICED THAT…GEORGE HAS SOME PROBLEMS……….
Yes, he did exhibit strange behavior, didn’t he Sue? Like when he first walked to the podium. He blew air out through his cheeks like a kid who is giving his first speech and has stage fright. What was that about?
Thought maybe I was the only one that noticed – because I really don’t like the man – and I was trying to put it out of my head. But sure looked as though he has the early stages of something or other.
HA! J’OB
🙂
I noticed his behavior also J’OB. Laura always holds his arm as if she feels he is going to explode. He was too animated during the singing of the ” Battle Hymn of the Repubic” also. FLOTUS was very uncomfortable with his giggling . And I was upset because I felt his behavior was so off-putting in front of the family members.HZ
Noticed it all, HZ!
This!!!
Yes, COS. I concur. David speaks volumes. HZ
This is coming from a former political speech writer – thanks O’Donnell
Love Lawrence’s comment.HZ
A PRESIDENT THAT WILL NEVER BE REPLACED…………………IF ALL OF THE CITZENS IN THIS COUNTRY…FOLLOWED HIS EXAMPLE..THERE WOULD BE PEACE!
To America, now you see why I voted for this man twice.
Haters, now you see why I voted for this man twice and dam proud I did.
It is always so telling and somewhat poignant to see how even adults reach out to the Obamas for hugs, They do so with confidence that they will be received with welcome and a full-on embrace not a mere perfunctory pat on the shoulder.
good point, CEB
I shall endeavor to say nothing, rather than be ungracious on this day. I’m sure all o’ y’all know exactly what I’m sayin’. God Bless President and Mrs. Obama for walking among us in these days of the tide turning. We are blessed by their presence. ❤️❤️
MightyPamela……..Amen.
MP, I don’t know what you’re trying to say. My mind is a jumble of thoughts and I just don’t quite understand what you’re hinting at.
😶😇🙄👁👁😎
OMG, this man. Tears, pride, speechless.
I was weeping like a baby. He is magnificent.
Great to see you, Donna. His words are so wrenching but always, in the end, extremely hopeful. He is the same man we’ve always known, but better each and every day.
But Better Ea Day!…
YESSSSSSS!
I wasn’t ready for him to stop talking……we so need to hear his words.
Hel-lo! Are you back? And (under the circumstances) wasn’t this a comforting *and* motivating speech to meet you!
This President of ours always comes through with such depth, such wisdom, and healing.
Really sad that he has to so often, BillR, but uplifting to know that he does and can, I think.
Yes I’m back. Everything went off without a hitch and the Bride and Groom couldn’t have been happier with my work. 🙂
^5 😀 😀
Wonderful!
This service was powerful. Glad Cornyn and Cruz had to sit there and hear President Obama’s words and the roar of approval from this suffering crowd in Dallas. Best intro ever from Police Chief Brown.
Yes, Judith, I’m glad that many who don’t hear the adulation as often as we do, was present today.
Judith, I’m also glad that one of the most divisive, race baiting and hate filled of senators–Ted Cruz– heard dark hearts like his being called out by the President.
Gail, I thought of you during this speech, and your righteous concern for the families of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. As a lawyer, and with the pending investigations, I do not believe POTUS can put himself in the middle of their grief, but I am so reassured that he recognized the mourning for these men in addition to the officers. Again, what will we do without this man?
FoxfireTX, I just want more of us to openly question the status and continue to seek justice for these two young men and not let the focus be diverted. We need justice for Sterling and Castile.
Who’s there to comfort and console their families? Who’s there to seek justice for them?
i thought that the AG has opened a case re: Sterling and Castile…
Trump you just mad Sanders didn’t support a racists, sexists, lying, all about me,. thin skin bully name Donald J. Trump.
Capitol Hill on lock down:
Words of truth, Donna. Just when you think you cannot love him more, he proves that, yes, indeed, we can.
My President, too!
Absolutely beautiful, Donna! I feel so blessed to be in a company of great souls like you and all the members of TOD family who are so proud of our extraordinary President.
Me too!
Matt Murphy, if this first family could and wanted to remain in the White House, I would be all for it.
New post.

W gotta be W
W just seemed so inappropriate and odd, really. Even VP Biden was taken aback.
Glad I got to see the behavior spoken about on this blog. It is much like the camera videos of police shootings being captured so others can see for themselves the inappropriate actions of authorities. One picture is worth a thousand words.
When you try to be nice and just go with it when you know crazy is going on (Michelle), but you nudge your Boo in a “look at this shit” move, while he looks down and tries to hold his grin in (PBO).
There are no words.
Yes there are.
Like: “Look at this fool.”
Laura looks and say to W, ” George, I know you are not up in here clowning.” HZ
Pretty strange, really.
UNLESS HE IS ENTERING THE INITIAL STAGES OF ALZHEIMERS….
…or drinking. He looked red-faced.
The President and Vice President Biden have departed Dallas.
